You’re right, and I think we could even say that self-loathing even has its own special kind of stink. But only a specific type of self-loathing. So they exist, then? I need to read more comics, I think.
Oh! Well… no. I can’t… say that I find grandmas people that are in my list of those who I want to… erm, “bone”. But I guess to be fair, my girlfriend is the only one on that list right now. Do um… do you like them?
I need to know more… is his stink due to a lack of hygiene? Some self loathing, maybe? Or a condition. Or is he just sort of like Oscar the Grouch, and he enjoys that sort of thing? Okay, but what about girl sidekicks.. to girl super heroes. Are their any of those?
Oh dear. Sounds like a giant mess! I actually… have to confess that I don’t know what a GILF is. It’s hard to stump me, but I think you’ve done it.

I love this idea- it’s totally unique. We’re Fully Booked, over in OldTown? Except, we had a fire, so right now we’re Fully Burnt. Ha! That’s my way of being funny. Did it land?
I’ve never published anything before, but I think working together, we could really work this out? Would you want to get together so I could look at some of your prints?
I think you’re right, especially because we’re just a small bookstore. I think prints would be much more accessible for our customers, and much more desired, too. Have you ever thought of creating a book of prints? Does that sort of thing exist?

[pm] Oh my gosh, that’s incredibly generous- are you sure? I want to make it perfectly clear that we would be unable to pay you back, especially for the types of books you’re talking about.
Which- tell me more about these books… what makes them rare? Their age? Their originality? Color me enthusiastically intrigued.
We can’t afford to buy them off of you right now, but any donation would be greatly appreciated. I’m thinking of created some sort of memorium for all the generous souls who supported us during this time when we’re back up and running. It seems that I’ve met a fellow literature lover?

Exactly. And can you imagine the community outreach? I can picture event after event, essentially bringing the town together for the better. … Maybe I should go back to school for library science.
Well that’s good, at least. It must ease your woes about the whole thing. If there were anything in the world you wished people thought you were, what would it be?
Sin and immorality is such a tricky subject, isn’t it? Because the idea in itself is so subjective, I think most people toss and turn at night because of those unanswered questions? Am I a bad person? Did I do the right thing? Stuff like that. If I were a sociologist, I’d study it more. I’m glad they had you to talk it over with, even if under false pretenses.
Okay, now THATS interesting. If I didn’t have to worry about all those big morality questions, I’d suggest you’d start an anonymous gossip blog, just for the fun of it. Can you imagine what a ruckus that would cause?
I think it would have been a very noble position.
I don't know, I think helping people in genera is morally sound enough. Even as a lie through admission, you would have helped those people find peace, right? That sounds noble to me!
I think maybe that's the best way to go about it. After all, they're expecting these secrets to be confidential, right? It's probably best that you hold yourself to that standard. They must have told you some juicy stuff, then.
[...] Is it really so bad if you tell the secret without revealing who told it to you?

[pm] Now you’re getting it, Arden. I’ll always be grateful for books. It makes me feel ungrateful that I don’t think of other things to be grateful for. Maybe it’s better to be mindful in that way. I guess if I had to be grateful for something else it’d be friends. How about you?
All we can do is our best, I think. The rest will come later. Hey- I’d like that. Especially this time of year. Do you have anything in mind? Nicole might veto any slippery winter activities, thanks to my fragile bone structure.
[pm] That’s what I’m hoping!! Maybe pop-ups will bring the books to who truly wants them: old people who struggle with their mobility. You and your moms are gifts, and I love you.
I hope you’ve been okay, Arden. All things considered.

We will for sure reach out to you at the first available convenience!! Well, believe it or not, the only reliable inventory we have left that isn’t donations from other customers is 6 full boxes of books about competitive duck herding! […] Okay- real talk- is this working? I’m trying my best customer service tactics to get rid of these things. With complete transparency, did I make the idea of buying them sound appealing?
On heavy grief due to a messy break up? For sure I am. The rocky road never betrayed me though, that much is true. Ooh! I see- so more of a amicable break up, then? Maybe it takes a while to figure that out, you know? I don’t think you’re supposed to know if you’re better off right away.
Incredible! To show our appreciation, Fully Booked would like to offer you an exclusive members only soft opening experience when we’re ready to open up in OldTown again. Now, we have no idea when that may be, and so to hold you over, we’d also like to offer you a 75% discount on any and all of our books on Duck Herding! You’re not gonna wanna miss this offer.
Oh, yes. Of course. Heard.
…
It’s just that, some people don’t realized they’re dealing with grief until it’s absolutely overtaken them and they’ve eaten a whole tub of rocky road in one sitting. Could be very dangerous. Maybe it’s best to get a leg up on this, just in case!

Oh my gosh, you’re right! I bet we could really beef it up too, like- single-handedly illustrated countless posters, signs, ads, and more that eventually contributed a world of help to a struggling small business. Wow. We should tell him to use us as a reference. Ooh… you mean like Picasso? Good call babe. Maybe it’s been on purpose this whole time! I should have trusted his creative vision. They have now, specially cause I said you asked ;). Oh hah hah. I’m only slightly obsessed with you.
You’re right- I am always right. We should put that on a plaque when we open the new store. And a beefed up comic section- of course. Should we start to try reading some, just for good measure?
Fabian wants to go to art school, yes. I bet he would enjoy drawing the posters- maybe it would even help him work on his symmetry. Can someone with no symmetry go to art school? I suppose time will tell. I think us both buying a book would just be moot, sadly, though it’s a sweet idea. Maybe we can guilt my family into buying one. I bet my dad will if you ask- he’s obsessed with you. In a totally not creepy way.
I doubt they’re joking. It’s just the faith I’ve always had in this town pulling through, I think. We might even be able to sell comics soon, if things go well with a townie I’m speaking with! I mean, that’ll attract the fandom nerds, and who spends more money than them?!
I should say it more, I think. I love you I love you.

Are you interested in selling your work at a struggling local business? We're a bookstore by nature, of course, and would need to take a cut of your commision, but after a freak accident, we're almost desperate for revenue. Would you mind me taking a look at your work?

Are there... any of those you don't want to throw away and would consider donating? The bookstore I own is almost completely out of stock after a freak accident fire and we would accept any and all donations so we can start selling again, cryptid or otherwise.

I'm sure she would help if the situation were desperate enough. I mean, that's part of her heroic job, right? Her... smart watch? I bet. I don't know nearly enough about batgirl. Oh? Is he known for his odor?
Oh wow, I've never heard anyone try to use spaghetti for such a thing... that's almost genius. Did you...use cooked spaghetti? Did it have sauce in it? I'm fascinated. Oh!! That's good. People are so generous these days, it's very sweet. Yes! Two for the price of one, AND you get to eat carbs. I actually can't imagine anything better.
Can the phone your friend gave you exhibit the capabilities of a watch?

As I'm sure you've heard by now, Fully Booked will be closed until further notice because we're no longer... fully... booked. Due to unforseen and totally unpredictable circumstances, we're unfortunately in need of some major renovations, as well as almost a whole new inventory.
But don't fret, Wicked's Rest! Your literary woes will feel at ease at our various pop-ups throughout town, starting next week. With the inventory we have left, we're still able to serve the community we love. Looking for all the knowledge you can find on Duck Herding? Boy, do we have 150 copies of the book just for you. Head to our website to see where we'll be on which day! How exciting!
If you're looking to donate any gently used books to add to our inventory, please message me directly!

[pm] We have a donation lockbox outside of the former location in OldTown! I can totally relate to not wanting to part with books- if the situation were reversed, I’m not sure I’d be able to spare any, either. It’s nice to meet a fellow book lover, by the way. I’m Leah!
[er…] It was a freak accident, actually. A fire, in the middle of the night. Our apartment is on top of the store, and it was a blessing my girlfriend and I woke up and were able to get the animals out and control the fire enough until the experts arrived. Our apartment sustained no damage, thank fate!

Drat! Maybe I’ll make a Fully Ducked sign for one of the pop ups to really bring the idea home. They do like puns… but do they like duck herding? I have a feeling we’re still going to be stuck with those books at the end of this.
I’m getting a lot of offers for donations- maybe we won’t need to be closed for as long as we thought?
You have. Multiple times. Have I told you today how grateful I am for you? I love you.

Any books! We have basically zero inventory at the moment, so anything is really appreciated. Even those born of unfortunate circumstances.
You know, someone donated a book on how to handle the grief of a break up the other week- would you be interested in buying it?

Comics totally work! Anything, really. Are you sure you’re willing to part with them? Some people are really passionate about their collections. I really appreciate you either way, and so does the town! Maybe one day I’ll write my own book about a community coming together under the worst circumstances imaginable (no more books).

I appreciate your optimism! The pop-ups were originally sort of out of desperation- a need to make money with no building to do it in, but I like your view of it much better. Who could be pessimistic about the spread of literature?? Yea, we’re planning on avoiding Worm Row for the time being, unfortunately.
Bummed to say that all of our books on goo went with the fire, unfortunately. But hey- could I take your name down and reach out to you if we get any relevant donations?
