Restricting Fics

Hey, long time no see.

So, due to the massive fic-binding and selling issue gripping the dramoine community, I've decided to do something before the thieves spill over and put other communities in their crosshairs.

Am I pulling my YOI fics from AO3? Not at this time. What I WILL be doing over the next few days is changing the permissions so that people have to be logged-in to read. I know that it's a minor step, but it does create a minuscule burden for the fic binders/sellers.

I'm sorry to all of my readers for this inconvenience.

I hope that this binding thing blows over quickly, but for now it's putting authors at risk. And if you're in any of the really big fandoms, like dramoine, you probably want to download your fave fics. Authors have been pulling them down because of the thieves.

Look, I get it, IBS SUUUUCKS, I was diagnosed with IBS-D over 20 years ago now... when I was still in flipping high school. So you don’t need to tell me about the pain or the running to the bathroom when you eat something that sets it off. 

And I still don’t tell people I’m allergic. Because I don’t need to. You’re still allowed to use the phrase “Easy on the [whatever] because I can’t handle too much.” No further explanation needed. Waitstaff get it. “Go easy” or “hold the [whatever]” are things they deal with every day. Say you’re sensitive to it but not allergic.  

When a food order comes into a kitchen and they have to worry about an allergy, they have to be worried about even the slightest trace of something potentially killing somebody. Things slow down because you’re adding extra steps to make sure there’s no accidental cross-contamination. 

So if you’re sensitive SAY THAT! I do. It’s enough. 

The only times I have to say the words I’m allergic in a restaurant are when somebody treis to sell me on something that has lavender. Because I’m actually allergic to lavender. But it’s a fancy upsell ingredient that is easily avoided 99% of the time so they don’t need to generally worry about it. 

DO NOT DO THIS.

This makes me so angry.

If you work in a movie theater and you do this I have no respect for you.

My younger brother is Type 1 Diabetic.

When we go to a movie theater, we always get him diet soda. If he were to get regular when we asked for diet, we would not give him the insulin he would need for it. If that happens, his blood sugar level could go so high he could go into a coma, go blind, or even die.

If somebody gave him regular soda instead of diet without telling us, that person could be responsible for a nine-year-old being killed or blinded.

Just thinking about that makes me so angry. I get scared every time we take him to a movie in case the people working there saw this picture and decide to do the same thing.

So I’m expecting to get my absentee ballot by mail soon for the NM primaries, and one of the highest profile fights currently is for our house rep in my district. Our current one is giving up the seat to run for an open senate spot. 

But one of the names running for the now open house seat is just such a middle finger to republicans, and I love it. 

Valerie Plame. 

Yes, that one. 

Even better, after looking through her policy positions, and those of the other candidates, she aligns best with my views. 

Like just check all those boxes, including a big one for me: rural infrastructure. 

Same position on issues? Check!

Adding to the number of women in congress? Check!

That sweet sweet “remember me bitches?” when the republicans gets all high and mighty about how only they support our troops and various law enforcement officers? Yep!

I totally forgot to post here the other day, lol. Anyway, for those of you reading my original omegaverse series, book 5, Fool’s Kisses for the Omega is now available on Amazon. Woot Woot!

Daniel is just trying to make it through a single day without overbearing alphas trying to get into his pants, but is reminded that soon it’s going to get worse. His cousin’s wedding is upcoming, his family is baby-crazy, and he doesn’t even have an alpha.

The only thing worse than alphaholes assuming that lack of a bond-mark means Daniel’s open to their advances, is when his aunt starts introducing him to those same alphas and makes it very clear that he’s available. But there’s no way to avoid her during the wedding.

When his roommate, Trent, offers to come along and pretend to be his boyfriend he sees a way to avoid his meddling aunt’s tactics. There’s just one problem: he’s been in love with Trent for years.

But the thought of Daniel’s aunt introducing the prickly man to other alphas brings out his protective side, and when she won’t take lack of an alpha as an answer, he invites himself to the wedding as a way to protect the man he loves.

What are future historians gonna think...?

So I might have wondered this before, or maybe not? *shrug* I don’t recall. 

Anyway, I watch a lot of the strangest things on the youtubes, because it’s interesting at the time. One of the things I watch off and on are the “survival” or “primitive” videos, where one or a couple guys in Cambodia, or Vietnam, or some other Asian country go out into the jungle and either dig or build a house, and sometimes both. 

We all know the old adage is that once it’s on the internet it’s forever, but like... really? Some day some company is gonna fold, or be bought out, and they’re gonna need server space and nobody has watched these videos in 20-30 years so it’s not like it matters anymore, then zap, videos are gone. 

Then in a couple hundred years historians are gonna find all these fancy dug places with termite-plaster lined pools, but will be able to tell that they’re not as old as other similar structures, and are sometimes weirdly ornate and stuff, but not in ways that seem relevant to the culture. 

Do we really document things well enough to know that these future historians will be all. “Oh yeah, people overseas got a kick out of watching these be built on the internet, so people would go out into the jungle cause the ad revenue was worth it.” Or will they be all “WTF?!?! They had access to modern building materials at the time, and they don’t seem to have been used for long. Why did they build these things, then seemingly abandon them right away?”

What do you do/watch that one day a histprian is gonna raise their eyebrows at?

Maybe see if there is a parrot rescue you can volunteer at in your area. It’ll give you a chance to hear the different volumes and calls, get used to them, and figure out which you can fit into your life. It’ll also give you a chance to get to know the different personality types. 

Let them know what your personal health concerns are at the start so they can make sure you’re handling it well. 

Best of all, it’ll probably be rewarding to help those birbs during that transition phase of their lives.
