In a language that contains words like devotion, passion, enthusiasm, love, fascination, obsession, etc., I can’t help but regret this tendency to cram all those meanings into "hyperfixation," a word which manages to pathologize and medicalize the act of having interests.

As someone who remembers the deep lore of Toby Fox being an accomplished pianist who then struggled with his playing and composition because of physical disability in his hands preventing him from being able to play effectively and without severe pain (right around the time when he was scripting Deltarune, in fact)...

The whole narrative of Kris being unable to play while shackled to the soul and then immediately spending the 10 minutes they have free of it (after requisite plot scheming) to play a 8 minute medley of Toby Fox songs (which I'm pretty sure is just a straight up recording of Toby himself playing) feels pretty personally moving in a way that I'm surprised I haven't seen more people talking about. Like yeah, those little moments of frustration when the soul tries to play and just plonks in the keys, that hits, I bet.

Really getting tired of cat owners with free roaming cats taking zero responsibility for their choice to let their cats free roam.

Sorry but if your cat gets attacked by an on leash dog while free roaming outside, that is on you for letting them outside.

The dog’s owner shouldn’t be having to pay your vet bills when they were doing the right thing with their dog on leash. Maybe they could have been more aware of their dog’s behaviour and surroundings but unfortunately predatory behaviour can be really quiet and really sudden.

Dogs will chase, attack and kill cats - they shouldn’t be punished by local councils because people can’t take responsibility for their damn cats!!!

If you are so determined to allow your cats outside to free roam “because they like it” you should be opening that door acknowledging that you are risking your cat’s safety and mortality every time you do. Not just dogs are a risk but other cats, traffic, people ect!

Cats will also decimate wildlife and bird populations without any sort of repercussions.

I’m just infuriated by these free roaming cat owners on local Facebook groups trying to track down dog owners to report to council with no actual evidence that it was even their dogs that attacked their cats! And it’s just a total lack of responsibility for something 100% preventable by keeping your cats inside!

Every day I am overwhelmed by the way almost everyone in the global north redefines health away from collective survival and toward promotion of individualism and eugenics.

People will talk about "hygiene" and they mean extensive skin care routines and cosmetics instead of preventing the spread of contagious diseases through requiring structural renovations for better ventilation of workplaces, schools, & public spaces and universal healthcare that includes easy, accessible, free testing & vaccinations.

People will talk about "nutrition" and they mean promoting expensive, restrictive diets dependent on imperial food systems and the promotion of anti-fat and anti-black policies, instead of doing anything to prevent the widespread nutrient deficiencies caused by our government's deliberate, ongoing starvation of Palestinian people.
