Here are some before and afters and final images from my portraits shoot with my mum Wendy as the model. I edited them in photoshop by adjusting the contrast, highlights and whites to give more depth to the images. I then adjusted the vibrance and saturation to make the blue brighter since blue is the theme for my folio.
Gamut is the complete range of colour in a colour scan.
- What is colour space?
A range of colours on a spectrum that can be represented by a visual model.
- What two colour spaces do most DSLR cameras offer?
Most cameras offer sRGB and Adobe RGB.
- What colour space can most computer monitors display?
Most computer monitor displays offer sRGB colour space.
- If you switch from sRGB to Adobe RGB on your camera what colours will you see an improvement in?
The colours that will improve most will be the green and red tones while the blue and magenta tones won't change much.
- When you change the colour space in photoshop what does it do?
The colours will either become brighter and more vibrant or duller depending on what colour space is used. Changing from sRGB to Adobe RGB means the colours will get brighter, whereas changing from Adobe RGB to sRGB means the colours will become duller.
- Name a larger colour space than Adobe RGB
ProPhoto
- What can happen to a digital image if you map colours to a really large colour space?
The hue and saturation of the colours will increase, although some of the tonal range and shadows and highlights will be lost.
These are some of my first photos I shot for my still life as they were closer to my inspiration images. I realised I didn’t like them much so changed what I was doing, but I decided to edit some anyway in case I changed my mind later on.
These are some before and afters from Mondays studio class. This was for the the start of folio 3. My folio is blue and purple themed, so I used blueberries for a still life scene and then some blue flowers for some macro work. Final Images to follow.
My first attempt at trying to make a showreel. I used my nature macro images on iMovie and some basic music to try and get used to making one on software I’ve used before.
A showreel is a video that showcases photographers work. It may have music featured that would set the mood of the pictures. Some photographers may add text to tell you more about their images. Showreels are more accessible than folders as they can give a glimpse of the photographers work rather than having to sit and look through all their folders. This allows people to have a quick look through photographers work and decide if they like it or not.
Many different types of software can be used to create showreels, although some you need to pay for. Software such as iMovie, Instagram and TikTok can be used to make showreels and are free. Whereas, software such as Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro X can also be used but need to be paid for.

^^I chose this showreel as it had interesting transitions between photos. Also the subject matter is changed every couple of images to keep the viewers attention so they don’t get bored of the same subject. The photos were very interesting and unique as well which made the whole thing more interesting.^^
some before and after images from my 4 star images that I thought weren’t good enough to be printed but with some editing turned out quite good. I used bridge for the main adjustments and then photoshop for the spot healing tool.
For todays class (14/3/22) we printed off images from our previous folios to see if any of them were any use for folio 3.
We chose what we thought was our best 6 from these images.
For folio 3 I will create some more portrait shots, macro images and some more product photography as I have learned more skills since first completing these projects
These are my contact sheets from our task to reshoot one of our folio 1 location projects. I chose to reshoot my pantone colour project as it rained the days I planned to shoot so couldn’t do much outside.
I also decided on this project as my colour the last time was quite hard to find things to photograph, so I decided to go back and find the colour wheel and get a new colour that would hopefully be easier to find things of that colour.
