this is gonna make some ppl mad but-
when ppl say that social media doesn’t influence LGBTQ+ ideas onto children, they are wrong.
social media influences other ideas onto young people; what to wear or buy, what Starbucks drink to order, and what hair and makeup products to buy. all of these somewhat contribute to a persons identity.
so why can’t it influence how young people think about their sexual/romantic identities?
i know that seeing videos during covid surrounding LGBTQ+ identities definitely made me question things that were not true about myself, but i kept seeing it to the point that all the posts were even kind of influential on me.
there are definitely people who saw posts that made them realize who they really are which is good.
but, some people have seen hair products on social media that helped their hair, and some people have used the same product that did not work for their hair.
LGBTQ+ posts on social media are not bad, but to say they are not at all influential on youth is simply not true.
