Still relevant <3

20/365: “I know that love is ultimately the only answer to mankind’s problems. And I’m going to talk about everywhere I go.” -MLK, Jr., ‘Where Do We Go From Here?’ (1963) Sorry for the repost! Realized I forgot a word.

Still true.

63/365:“If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.” -Mother Teresa Real talk— 7 billion people in the world. We’re all neighbors, equals, cohorts, and a global family.

131/365: "The courage of life is often a less dramatic spectacle than the courage of a final moment; but it is no less a magnificent mixture of triumph and tragedy." – John F. Kennedy // Those who died during 9/11 or while helping rescue people or clean up after are courageous, and the family and friends they left behind are courageous, too. #365messagesoflove #neverforget #calligraphy #pointedpen #engrosserscript #inspiration

The top picture is from October 2013, not long after my first pointed pen calligraphy class. The bottom is from today, just a few days after my most recent class. It's really rewarding to see improvement so drastically. I often get frustrated with myself for not practicing enough, or making the same mistakes (ovaaaals!) all the time, etc. What I seldom stop to look at is this-- how far I've come. Practice, dedication, time, and patience. We're all a work in progress!

129/365: "And if they say 'No,' you say 'Why not?'" -Barbara Calzolari A beautiful Barbara-ism on learning to play and bend rules. I think this has been my unofficial life motto since I was a kid, and now I'm claiming it official.

Even if you only have faith the size of a mustard seed, please pray for little Noah. He's part of my sister's boyfriend's family, and his cancer recently spread aggressively. Send him strength 💕 #noretreat #prayerrequest

128/365: "All men should strive / to learn before they die / what they are running to, and from, and why." -from 'The Shore and the Sea' by James Thurber A little reminder to look inward! Too much chaos and noise is distracting. The news has become fabricated high school-era drama, and I don't bother with drama.

126/365: Fire and the Flood by Vance Joy Y'all, this is terrible. But I'm posting it anyway. The ink kept blobbing, I messed up spacing at the end, forgot a word, thought I'd do some gold accent thing and then just decided to add more blob spots, hated it and kept going because I was angry. I do this a lot, and that's why I'm about 100 days behind! So here's to letting go and trying to be less of a control freak!

124/365: "Keep close to Nature's heart … and break clear away, once in a while, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean." -John MuirI'll write the full quote eventually! I want to escape to the woods. I need a break.
