The All-On-4 Treatment protocol allows patients to have fixed teeth in one office visit. This procedure is a great option for patients looking for an affordable replacement of missing teeth. Over 26 years ago, the Dr. Thomas Balshi and Dr. Glenn Wolfinger at Pi Dental Center created the Teeth In A Day® process that allowed patients to leave the office with fixed teeth the day of implant placement. The conversion prosthesis is a crucial aspect in the Teeth In A Day® dental implant procedure. 

A conversion prosthesis is a transitional fixed implant-supported prosthesis. It’s a temporary device that “converts” an area where teeth were missing to non-removable teeth. 

 During dental implant placement, a complete removable denture is converted into a temporary fixed prosthesis. This prosthesis is worn by the patient from the day of surgery until the delivery of the final permanent prosthesis. A conversion prosthesis technique provides non-removable teeth immediately following surgery. 

This technique allows the patient to have attractive, stable fixed teeth while dental implants osseointegrate. It provides function immediately after dental implant surgery. With a conversion prosthesis, the patient is able to smile confidently, chew comfortably, and speak clearly. 

The conversion prosthesis also provides stability in the jaw and protects the gum tissue. It acts as a splint during the healing period and is used to make the final prosthesis. It serves as a prototype for the final prosthesis.

October is National Dental Hygiene Month. To help maintain your healthy smile, the ADA recommends brushing your teeth twice a day, for two minutes, with a soft-bristled brush. The size and shape of the brush should fit the mouth allowing you to reach all areas easily. Place your toothbrush at a 45-degree angle to the gums. Gently move the brush back and forth in short (tooth-wide) strokes. Brush the outer surfaces, the inner surfaces and the chewing surfaces of the teeth. To clean the inside surfaces of the front teeth, tilt the brush vertically and make several up-and-down strokes. Brush your tongue to remove bacteria and keep your breath fresh. Matt Wolfinger joined Pi Dental Center as an intern in July and was officially hired as a marketing / social media associate and clinical assistant on October 2nd. Matt is the son of prosthodontist, Dr. Glenn Wolfinger. Matt recently graduated from DeSales University in Center Valley, PA with a degree in marketing. Matt is excited to be joining Pi Dental Center. He has known our staff for many years and is looking forward to learning about dentistry.
