As someone who also had to give up on my education and career goals due to disability, it has long bothered me how so much of the fandom says that Cinderpelt should have stayed on the warrior path no matter what. Sometimes being disabled means you really can't do the things you want to do. And it sucks, yes, but it doesn't make your life a waste and it doesn't mean you can't be happy.

Cinderpelt finding a new path is good. I'm glad she did it. I did the same thing, in a way. I may not be living the life I planned for myself when I was younger, but I'm happy enough with where I've ended up. And I wish we could spend more time celebrating that sort of thing for both disabled characters and real people instead of demanding more from them.

thank fuck for this change to making it more explicitly cinderpelt's choice to be a medcat while also pointing out it wouldn't be impossible for her to be a warrior. it always was her choice, mind you, but a proper conversation between the two is appreciated.

really hoping that the tnp graphic novel team doesn't fumble this by keeping in that stupid crush retcon.

Everybody is understandably freaking out about TawnyCrow and saying that Crowfeather needs to stop but this is literally all we've actually gotten in book so far and I can't lie, it's kind of hilarious.

Felt like doing a Clangen run where the leader and medicine cat positions are hereditary, fun bit a challenge, and first off almost all of my generated cats were kits (when I started I think I had two warriors), then on moon 3 my medicine cat gave birth and died, one of her kits died at 6 moons old, and the cat who was temporarily serving the medicine role until the remaining kit was old enough ended up dying horribly too. Fellas, I think the position is cursed.

The Erins have so much potential to turn StarClan into something unsettling, and in fact have done so multiple times recently, but they don't realize it! And it's a shame because that would be fun to lean into.

The StarClan scenes in Squirrelflight's Hope creeped me out a little. Everyone felt artificially chilled out, detached from the real world and not caring about it anymore. And then there was that weird scene in Star where Jayclaw is trying to convince his own daughter to die and leave RiverClan to its fate. It really seems like StarClan cats forget what it's like to be alive and their biggest desire is for the living to join them. It's creepy. And I wish we could explore that instead of pretending this is objectively a good and healthy vision of "heaven" not worth analyzing.

Drew a quick Nightheart and mama Sparkpelt in celebration of me finally getting around to changing my name

The specific brand of insanity I have causes me to keep track of my Warriors OCs through a huge list of documents such as a detailed timeline spreadsheet; a complete list of every cat including their life story, family relations, and training; and of course, allegiances for every plot. Also family trees because I can't keep track of more than a couple generations without a visual reference. Does any of this matter? No, sir! But boy howdy it matters to ME for some reason!

All done! I tried not to use anybody more than once but some repeats were just unavoidable. If I reread the entire series again right now, I'm sure some of these would change, but here's who I thought of.

My reasons and a blank template under the cut.

Berryheart & Sunbeam: I was so stressed reading about them lol. But I appreciated how complex their relationship was, especially on Sunbeam's side. Berryheart loved her kids, and she hurt her kids quite badly because she thought she was doing the right thing. And that was a tough thing for Sunbeam to cope with. It's not a positive relationship but it is compelling, and I enjoyed that!

The Three: This is more for Lionblaze and Jayfeather (mainly since we've had more time with the two of them) but it would be wrong to leave Hollyleaf out! Most siblings in this series have some sort of strife between them, and these three have had their moments too, but they cared deeply about each other.

Rootspring & Shadowsight: I liked their friendship in TBC. Particularly I liked how insecure they both were, but how they admired each other for the very traits they were insecure about. It was sweet. Perhaps they should kiss.

Tree & Rootspring: This is largely just because Tree is the most supportive dad ever. I like that he stuck by Rootspring and helped him get Bramblestar's message out while still keeping his secret -- even though it was really inconvenient, his son's feelings mattered to him. I like that as soon as trouble came, he was ready to pack up and get his family out of the Clans, but he listened to their wishes and stayed and supported them.

Nightheart & Frostdawn: Their friendship was very sweet in Thunder. I love how Nightheart supported Frostpaw when she was at her lowest point, and how Frostpaw learned to rely on him, which helped her start trusting others again.

Brightheart & Cloudtail: A classic old pairing. I guess I'm a sucker for stories of one character being terribly wounded and at the worst point in their life and then another character supporting them through it and them bonding. Whether that's platonic (like Nightheart & Frostdawn) or romantic like Brightheart & Cloudtail, I'm a fan.

Tawnypelt & Birchfeather: I probably don't need to explain this one since everybody's talking about it. But Tawnypelt's support of Birchfeather when his own parents refuse to acknowledge him is sweet.

Fireheart & Cinderpaw: It's been a while since I last read the first arc, but I remember enjoying these two as both mentor and apprentice and as friends. Nothing too deep here, they were just fun to read about.

Sunbeam & Lightleap: It's a shame their friendship broke down so early into ASC. I enjoy a ship between someone who's calm and sensible and someone who would commit arson on a dare. They could balance each other out, or they could stress each other out. Either way would be interesting to read about!

Please talk to me about your favorite relationships of various types as well! I always enjoy hearing what kinds of characters, tropes, etc appeal to other people.

why am I always consumed with my biggest urge to draw when I'm in bed past 11pm trying to go to sleep
