The Pokémon Company International recently announced Sun & Moon Forbidden Light, a brand-new expansion for the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG), launching across the U.S. and UK on May 4, 2018.
Forbidden Light is the name given to the sixth main expansion of cards from the Sun & Moon Series of the Pokémon Trading Card Game (the Sun & Moon Era in Japan). The set continues to feature Generation VII and Pokémon-GX in the card game, with a focus on the Kalos region and Ultra Necrozma.
In Japan, it was released as Forbidden Light, the sixth expansion in the Pokémon Card Game Sun & Moon Era. It is based on Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, featuring Ultra Necrozma. The English expansion will be released on May 4, 2018 while the Japanese expansion was released on March 2, 2018.
Forbidden Light will contain over 130 cards, including 8 new Pokémon-GX, 5 new Prism Star cards and several Pokémon native to the Alola and Kalos regions. The Japanese equivalent Forbidden Light contains 110 cards. The English expansion will bring together the release of the Japanese Forbidden Light expansion and the Ultra Force subset.
Building on the story of Sun & Moon Ultra Prism, this latest expansion showcases the mysterious power of Necrozma, who has absorbed a Legendary Pokémon and taken on a luminous new form as Ultra Necrozma-GX. Drawn to this new light, other Pokémon, including Lucario-GX, Greninja-GX, Zygarde-GX, Yveltal-GX, Volcanion Prism Star and Arceus Prism Star, must decide whether to welcome it or resist it.
The Pokémon Company has also unveiled new artwork in the form of Dusk Form Lycanroc and Alolan Exeggutor:
