Yung replaces previously announced Shannyn Sossamon, who left the project after the first table read; the article announcing Yung’s casting also suggests that Adan Canto has joined, although no details on his role have been supplied yet. The leading role was adjusted to reflect the differences in Yung and Sossamon’s ethnicities.

UNTITLED ELLIOT STABLER SPIN-OFF (ordered direct to series, 13 eps)

a spin-off of “Law & Order: SVU” and the extended franchise

Revolves around the NYPD organized crime unit, led by Elliot Stabler.

Cast (thus far)

Christopher Meloni will reprise his role as Elliot Stabler, which was the male lead role in the first twelve seasons of Law & Order: SVU. Alongside his partner/best friend Olivia Benson, Stabler was a dedicated and brash detective who investigated sex crimes. Stabler was married with five children. The role earned Meloni a lead actor in a drama series Emmy nomination in 2006.

“SVU” is now finishing its 21st season and has become the longest-running US live action series on television. When Meloni left, the now tied-in Chicago franchise hadn’t even made its debut. This is the first show to come out of the massive new five-year, nine-figure, multi-platform deal Wolf signed with Universal Television last month, which includes multiple series commitments.

CBS & NBC have cancelled their live Upfronts events in New York in May, due to the Coronavirus. Currently, the plan seems to be to stream video presentations. WarnerMedia, behind the new HBO MAX platform, has also cancelled. The CW, which is a joint venture between CBSViacom and WarnerMedia, will likely follow the example, and ABC and FOX are said to be considering the matter.
