Hey remember that one detail of LQG that since he's so blunt he sometimes says the most batshit thing like the iconic "the Bai Zhan Peak Lord is here why are you throwing yourself at another's feet?" to SQQ. Now, I know in canon he only does that to SQQ but like. How funny you guys think it would be if he's actually like that with the others too? Just imagine in a meeting where he accompanies YQY, a guest is being fucking rude and LQG just. says something that makes him sound like YQY's slighted partner (YQY meanwhile is less panicked than SQQ but also shidi. Shidi what the fuck don't say that they would disrespect you.) Then he also does this with MQF and even WQW lmao. He would do it with QQQ if only she didn't steal his sister to her peak

I saved this one for after work just so I could gush

Liu Qingge. My man. My king. My brute of a war god. The icon you are.

He is a perfect example of second male lead syndrome and it's a great addition to all the meta commentary svsss already has. He's painted to be this helpful, devoted character, if a little brutish by Shen Qingqiu. All in all a simple person. Shen Qingqiu sees him as hired muscle to save him from having to fight.

I feel like a large section of the fandom falls for this as well. They see Liu Qingge as kind of stupid and single minded, especially when it comes to Shen Qingqiu. People often see him through Shen Qingqiu's perspective who only sees him through PIDW's perspective which painted him to be the brutish, canon fodder war god. (A reason I'm often not a fan of the fandom's interpretation of liushen but I digress)

I'm not immune to this, btw. A lot of my early characterization of Liu Qingge was very flawed until I started actually studying his character. A lot of my takes are still very flawed even while I'm trying to understand him

I adore Liu Qingge as a character because once you look past the unreliable narrator and look at what he's done he seems so different. He's devoted, yes, but not to a foolish amount. He's not stupid despite what both Shen Qingqius think. He can be thoughtful and intelligent, he's just bad at expressing himself.

Liu Qingge has such an earnest way of sticking to his principles and I love him for that. He's stubborn in his ways but its because he cares so much about doing the right thing

Man if Shen Qingqiu can't appreciate that this man chased him for five years to save his body and then chased him all the way across the demon realm to save him again I will

laughing at the thought of the Liu siblings being ultra sheltered, and Liu Qingge being thrown to the wolves by joining Bai Zhan, and Liu Mingyan joining Xian Shu and it's like giving a 13 year old completely uninhibited and unmonitored access to the Internet.

But, unlike Liu Qingge who was aghast at 'the-the crudeness!' Liu Mingyan takes one look at NSFW yaoi and goes 'neat' and never looks back

As much as I enjoy the system reveal SVSSS fics where YQY is sad but understanding about SY!SQQ and doesn't blame him for killing SJ!SQQ, I think the fics that explore more...extreme reactions are far more in character.

Like if YQY ever learned what happened to SJ, I think it would be completely in character to promptly attempt to murder SY. And if he didn't do that (because he understands it's not SY's fault, he's grown fond of SY, etc) he would instead be actively suicidal.

The worst part is that YQY wouldn't react this way because SJ died. He would react like this because SJ died, and YQY didn't notice. To learn that he not only failed his Xiao Jiu again, that he lost any possible chance of reconciliation (or more accurately, any chance for SJ to have his revenge*) and didn't notice?

In YQY's mind he not only failed SJ, but betrayed him, completely and utterly. And he will have realized all of this in an instant, decades too late for it to matter.

YQY would avenge him SJ, either by killing his "murderer", or by killing the person who failed him again. If YQY cannot blame SY then the only person left to blame is himself, and now he cannot even offer himself to SJ's anger, because it's too late, because YQY is always too late.

There is no universe where YQY learns what happened to SJ and takes it well, only difference in how extreme is reaction is.

(*This is YQY's view. He failed to save SJ and so he deserves every cruelty SJ gives him and won't even try to defend or justify his failure. Nevermind what SJ actually wants from him)

Corrupt generation before Qing choosing absolute trashfires for their head disciples/heirs with the plan being that they always get killed off or reprimanded with removal of rank and oops once again not all twelve peak lords are ready to ascend guess they have to stay another few decades. whoops.

Only the Qing generation are proving to be an immoveable trashfire that keeps escaping their cunning plans.
