THANK YOU!
Seriously, not to harp but this is the exact sort of thing that kind of keeps coming up in JJK that keeps me from loving it. Like, I love it, but also...there's a pattern here I dislike and mamaguro is a prime example of what that is and some bigger issues I have when it comes to how JJK handles characterization, particularly when it comes to the women.
It just irks me how female characters like mamaguro are so central to the plot, to the motivations of male characters and their arcs, heavily influence how they act, etc. but damn this woman doesn't even get a name. She's just Toji’s dead wife and Megumi's dead mom. We don't know anything about her except how her death impacted their lives.
Don't get me wrong, Gege generally has this habit of introducing characters and then they get sidelined or, ya know, unceremoniously killed/gravely injured, but his male characters get so much more focus and development in comparison and they hardly are ever used as plot devices in the narrative for female character's stories/arcs. There's literally a scene where Momo is about to fight Nobara in the tournament and she's like "I'll teach you what it means to be a female jujutsu sorcerer!" and it is immediately interrupted by Panda and Mechamaru's fight and the story goes into their back stories and stuff 😐.
That sort of sums up how Gege views a lot of his female characters. They're mainly there to serve as plot devices, background, or eye candy. They will always take a back seat, maybe a passenger seat, in comparison to their male colleagues. Gege has no problem writing these interesting, nuanced, compelling, three dimensional, and quickly iconic male characters (Yuji, Sukuna, Gojo, Geto, Toji, Megumi, etc etc.) and as much as I do love Yuki, Shoko, Nobara, and Maki, they feel so overlooked and underused by the story.
Genie's Rambles
I think Megumama is the true MVP of JJK, period.
Cause just imagine JJK verse if she were still alive. Toji wouldn't have spiraled down to his self destructive lifestyle, he wouldn't have left Megumi, wouldn't have returned to being the sorcerer killer, wouldn't have taken the commission to kill Riko, Riko wouldn't have died, Gojo wouldn't have awakened early, Geto wouldn't have a midlife crisis at 16 and become a racist mass murderer, Megumi would've grown up with a complete happy family because you bet Megumama would keep Toji tame, Toji would've given up on gambling and fucking around because he'd be too smitten with her and maybe that way he'd have a better relationship with Megumi, Riko could've enjoyed her youth a bit longer before assimilating with Tengen so Tengen's state would've been more stable, Geto wouldn't be killed, Kenny wouldn't have gotten his hands on his technique, and if still by sheer shit luck shibuya still happened we could've had Daddy Toji making a bitch out of every curse user/curse, Geto wiping the floor with Mahibitch AND GOJO WOULD NEVER HAVE GOTTEN SEALED! And there's SO much more!
We don't even know Megumama's name, but SHE is a BIG catalyst of JJK and people don't talk about this enough. We could've had it all if only Gege was a bit less of a sadistic kitty... *sigh*
Rest in power, Megumama. Throughout heaven and earth, you truly did no wrong.

I was not expecting the ending of Bucchigiri! I love how the final episode tied up a lot of characters. Arajin and Matakaras development was wonderful! This made me cry. Loved that Matakaras brother isn’t dead. And jasmine is a cat!?
I would have been more shocked if Jasmine was a human honestly. I still wish we saw more of Arajin and Matakara interacting positively but I'm really really hoping we can see more of them being friends in a second season or maybe just an omake special or something.

Alien Stage is so good man 😭 I haven't been this invested in a story being told through a series of music videos since Trapped in the Closet.

You know it was a bit underwhelming but I enjoyed the bucchigiri ending. If I have to rate the show as it is, I'd give an 8/10. It was funny and dramatic in the right places, it kept my interest the whole way through, the animation, characters designs, music, loved it all. It's grounded enough I cared about what was going on and it seems like a lot of the story itself wasn't meant to be taken too seriously or literally. Bucchigiri sort of reminds me of Space Dandy or Gurren Lagann. You just kinda gotta sit back and go with the weirdness and vibe of it and all if that makes any sense? Again would have loved for more time to flesh out certain details and characters, but it looks like the ending leaves room for a potential second season, I guess that really depends on how successful this one did. If they do decide to greenlight a season 2, I'm all for it, I would love to see more of these characters and this world.
Now the SPOILERS!
HOLY SHIT MITSUKUNI ISN'T DEAD!? Man I thought they killed him off maybe I misread something in the subtitles but whatever I'm so happy! 😭
ALSO OMG ARAJIN KEPT HIS FRIENDSHIP STONE ALL THESE YEARS 😭😭😭

Listen....ds nice as it is to see confirmation Zabu is alive and the excitement and dread that's steadily being built up for Arajin and Matakara's confrontation and the reveal of what happened to make Ichiya think Senya was looking down on him and all that drama....it is too funny to me that someone (Mahoro? Outa?) is holding a kebab under Marito’s nose like he's fucking scooby doo being bribed to consciousness with a scooby snack omfg 🤣🤣🤣

Preview images of the last episode of BUCCHIGIRI?!
The long awaiting fight between Arajin and Matakara has arrived!
ZABU IS ALIVE!!!!!!!!! (Just injured.)
I wonder what role would Komao would play in the final episode given his surprised reaction.
Marito is still in coma tho. Hope he’s ok.
Jabashiri and Hagure are alright but pretty worried. But I’m more worried about Outa tbh.

I like how throughout bucchigiri?! we're steadily learning not only that Arajin isn't as selfish as we're initially led to believe but Matakara isn't as innocent. Not that he's a bad person but he has a lot more flaws and baggage then the story let's on. There's hints of it from the beginning and now we're finally seeing the whole picture and it's exciting because I honestly have no idea how this is going to end.

After watching episode 10 of bucchigir my heart is shattered into a million tiny pieces. Matakara…..he needs someone to snap him out of it. I was not expecting what happened with the other gangs and Marito🤯
I was expecting it, like Matakara has to work his way up to Arajin (Senya) and Ichiya wanting him to get over whatever is holding Matakara back from fighting him. I'm still excited to see where this goes but damn is this getting sad to watch.

Ah, young love.
Also, are we not going to talk about how Matakara was flashbacking and literally says "after Ara-chan left me" like bro went through a divorce when he was ten and proceeded to spend the next five years trying to get over it by bulking up and joining a gang wtf? 😭
Arajin: man maybe i do kinda want him...
Matakara: i NEED to kill him so that the voices stop.

I will speak a vision that I always had of bucchigiri matakara and arajin were never friends I think they were neighbors and played together but matakara created an illusion about arajin this is a vision that I always had.
A vision? Like That's so Raven vision or do you mean headcanon? Not that it's a bad idea but the story makes it pretty clear both Arajin and Matakara remember being friends, just that Matakara didn't know during that incident Arajin had run away and that was why he ghosted him afterward. It would add an extra layer of wtf if it turned out Matakara did just imagine it all...

THIS and also the parallels between him an Matakara: like they have very similar flaws but the way they go about dealing with it and how they choose to essentially tamper down on them makes their relationship so compelling to me. They're so different but they've both been fighting their own fears and insecurities this whole show. At Bucchigiri's core I think it's a coming of age story.
i know a lot of people hate Bucchigiri because of Arajin, and tbh I totally understand that. But he is utterly fascinating to me as a character in a way that's really compelling.
He's selfish, shallow, a kiss-ass, and he despises confrontation. And yet he carves pretty stones to show his affection. In that way he's careful, devoted, and motivated by other people. But he doesn't actually think about what those people genuinely want from him; he projects his own desires onto others and by attempting to fulfill them, only ever really satisfies his own ego.
He's so simple-minded, so straightforward and determined, but he makes everything so needlessly complicated. I can't tell if he only cares about what others think of him, or if he genuinely fundamentally cares about people and just doesn't know how to show it or act on it because he's an immature teenager.
He's great to watch and I enjoy his cringe fail nature.

you know i started watching bucchigiri and i'll tell you my opinion arajin isn't a total idiot but he's very empty.
I saw that a lot of people want him to have a redemption but I don't think he will. I also found out that the author is the same as banana fish and sk8 infinite and I hope it doesn't have a traumatic ending like banana fish or an ending like sk8.
I've never actually seen Sk8 and I do know of Banana Fish (too much of a bummer for my personal preferences) but I guess I wouldn't mind Bucchigiri has a bittersweet ending if it all pans out. I like to reserve major judgements until the whole show is over and I can critique it as a cohesive story. So far I really like Bucchigiri and while some parts feel a bit rushed and elements not examined too well, I am still enjoying it, I'm invested. As for Arajin, I wouldn't say he's empty so much as a confused self centered teenager who doesn't know how to act right; I kind of love that he's not the protagonist we usually see in these kind of stories (openly kind, friendly, optimistic, idealistic, the emotional center of the cast, etc.) Like if anything I'd expect Matakara to be the protagonist, though I guess he would still be considered a deuteragonist.
My biggest gripe now is I think the story could benefit from a longer season (or maybe they're planning to see how popular this season is before pitching season 2?) but for an original idea this is pretty good. I almost want it to get a manga or a light novel adaptation to flesh out things a bit more.

And if from the beginning who planned this was shindo and the genius ichiya hurt matakara's brother so they could manipulate him but I have a bad feeling about this like what if both senya and ichiya are limited for example they can't make some wishes like kill someone or bring someone back to life .
I'm not sure how that would work but if Shindo and Ichiya did somehow pulled the strings behind Mitsukuni being stabbed trying to stop that fight, that's so fucking diabolical. I just hope he lives. 🥲

One thing I really want to know is where matakara's parents are - they're not even mentioned. I thought that was a bit strange - we're on episode 8 and no mention of them.
They might be dead or working abroad? I don't know if the side material specifically mentions their relatives as parental or just general relatives who own the bath house. If they aren't present in their lives it only highlights how attached Matakara would be to the closest person he has for family.

Just thought of something funny. Shindo vs Matakara gf or bf for Matakaras attention after the latest episode🤣🤣
That's the problem: Matakara doesn't have a partner to be like "bby no let's sit down, have some tea, maybe we chill out and not listen to the weirdo with the whip and his imaginary friend"

I’m surprised Matakara doesn’t have a girlfriend.
Omg he would be the best boyfriend such a sweetie, I would love for him to be my son in law, best boi 100%! (Although, something tells me he might want arajin a boyfriend) Anyway I'm guessing there aren't going to be any explicitly canon requited romances in the actual show but hey, we can always make up our own love stories lol.

Well, I've finished episode 8 and I have a few things to say. First, it's good that Arajin told Matakara the truth.
I'm sorry but arajin is a very annoying and intolerant protagonist I gave him a chance but after he was insensitive to matakara and treats his mother badly that's so sad .I hate other protagonists like takemichi who only beat up or denji who is a little cold but they managed to be a little sympathetic and sensitive to some situations unlike arajin who only cares about a girl who doesn't give a damn about him.
Sorry about the text, I needed to get it off my chest.
I mean sure, you don't have to explain it to me, you're totally at liberty to like or dislike something.

I was thinking and will Matakara become a villain?
I mean antagonist probably but I doubt he'll become a straight up villain like suddenly turn genuinely cruel and evil.
