Interviews: Piper
Piper: *walks out with a bright smile, winking out at the crowd as he crosses the crowd* Good evening, Caesar! You’re looking fantastic, as always.
Caesar: Thank you Piper. How have you been enjoying the Capitol so far?
Piper: I've been liking it a lot! Great food, great views out of every window. Y'all are really living the life up here.

I loved holding Jessie like that. Hearing her giggle, seeing her smile (short lived as it was) made it so much easier to put thoughts of the arena on hold for just a bit. With the innocent ignorance only a child can have, she was tearing me apart. How could I explain what I'd done to Caine? I could go on and on but I doubted she'd understand.
"...I hurt his feelings," I said finally, staring down guiltily. "I hurt them very badly." To think he'd actually confessed his love for me. I dismissed it at first as morphling withdrawals affecting his head. But he'd been so hurt when I couldn't reciprocate his affection.
Not that it mattered anymore. He'd turned back to Morphling and made it clear he didn't want anything to do with me. "And I regret it with all my heart."

My eyebrows raise, having not expected her to be so concerned. Jessie is smart, she knows that any weakness on my part is an advantage on hers. Yet she still worries for me.
"Hey, hey, I'm just fine, sugar," I say with a little smile. On a whim I wrap my arms around her and pull her close. She's smaller than Anna, but having a little sister in my arms still feels comforting. "See?" I wiggle my nose playfully, just to show her that I'm alright. A little sigh leaves me. I suppose I'll have to tell her. "It was the boy from District 7. Caine." Saying his name sends a dull thud of pain through my chest. "And when it happened, I just sort of... snapped, I guess." I can still remember that scary surge of memories all crashing into me at once.

I approach Piper uncertainly, staring in disbelief as several husky words slip out of his mouth. This was the first time he had spoken in days, so I cant help be surprise when his cheerless expression cracks into a forced smile.
“Oh.. hi,” I say, a little stunned but pleased all the same, walking across to were he was tucked up in the window seat. I copy him in a likewise manner, jumping up to the seat and folding my legs carefully so not too get in his personal space.
“Listen, I know something’s up. I mean, you don’t have to talk if you dont want to.. but you know I’m always here if you need someone to listen, yeah?”
I smile wearily at her. She's such a sweet girl. And wise beyond her years, that much is certain. I raise a hand to ruffle my hair a bit, giving her a sideways glance as I do so. After what happened with Caine I'm afraid to let anyone else in on my feelings. But, I know deep down that Jessie is a good kid. And hey, if I'm going to die in a few days I want to know I have at least one friend int he world.
"I just let myself get caught up in the moment, I guess." I couldn't tell her I'd slept with Caine. She's too young and frankly I'm tired of seeming like some second rate sob  story. "I care about another tribute more than I should. And he got mad and uh.. well. Broke my nose," I grumbled. The Capitol really was great with medicine. They'd already fixed it. "And now I'm just not sure what to do... Hey, could you sit a little closer?" I asked. Right now I just want... closeness, I suppose.

let's talk || jessie and piper
I hadn't been myself lately. The majority of my days were spent in silent solitude at the various training stations, always working alone. Always thinking. Not even my mentors had managed to get more than a one or two word response from me.
I sat staring out of one of our suite windows, my knees drawn up to my chest. It was the first time I'd sat there rather than in my own room in quite a while. I heard a door open behind me and supposed Jessie had come in. My sweet little partner. She didn't deserve the silent treatment. Thoughts of her drew me out of my funk, even if only for a short while. "...Hey there, sugar cube," I said, my voice a bit hoarse from disuse.

This letter will not be a post of my fondness for Piper's fc because these characters are not enough to express that. Instead I will talk of my fondness for your characters. They are always so well written and such a pleasure to read that I will forgive you should you kill my character. I cannot wait to read more or Piper in the coming days and I hope the odds are in his favor.
Can I just cry and hug you please? This means so much to me. This was probably sent hella long ago but oh my goodness. Thank you for the kind words, thank you so much.

Piper flinched when she reached for him, still a little jumpy after hit he took the day before. It was silly to think that one punch had him so jumpy, but there was something about that memory that was just unsettling. It made him feel... distant.
Glancing down, the sight of Jasmine hugging him chased the dark thoughts away. "It's no trouble, sugar," he chuckled, giving her a pat before easing away. He took up a few knives of his own to practice, figuring she would be good to try a few times on her own. "Now then, I want you to tell me why a pretty girl like you would choose not to smile. It's criminal."
It's just a game || Jasmine + Piper
She can’t help but laugh lightly when he thought she couldn’t smile. “I can, I just decide not to.” She gives him a brighter smile.
His hands move over to hers, placing the knife in her hands, telling her the key points of knives and tells me the positioning before taking a step back, waiting for me to start. She inhales lightly before doing exactly what his says, eyes focused on the centre she throws, hitting the centre, not exactly but in the area. She smiles, turning around to him before suddenly giving him a hug. “Thank you.”

A shallow relief filled Piper as he went to take one of her hands. "There's that smile," he teased with a little grin. "I was starting to wonder if you'd forgotten how to smile at all, missy."
He placed the knife into her hand and positioned her fingers along it, explaining to her how the weighting of the knife worked and how she should hold it in response. "Just like that, yeah. Alright now just reach back, over your shoulder-- make sure to keep you wrist straight, don't flick it.." Once she was ready to throw, he took a few steps back. "That's it. Now give it a toss."

She can’t help but smile lightly. She already feels so much better. Tugging the sleeves nervously as she watches him start to focus. She looks at him as he looks at her for permission. She nods lightly, taking a step forward and let his hands take her.

A small smile made its way onto his lips. He was glad to see her ease up. If he remembered right, she'd been sorta down at the party. He hadn't been able to cheer her up. "Well, I'm no expert, but let's see here..."
He recalled the things he'd learned the day before, holding the knife handle and taking careful aim before rearing back and throwing it. It hit the target slightly right of the bulls eye. "Here, may I? I'll show you how to hold it," He reached for her hand, waiting for permission.
It's just a game || Jasmine + Piper
She sighs in defeat. She’s going to let this off, only once. “Alright then.” She takes a few steps back until she was standing next to him, passing him a knife. “You got it?”

Piper was frustrated when he arrived to the training center, something that even a few hours worth of working didn't seem to amend. After being alone for a while, he decided to try interacting with someone again. Spotting a familiar head of blonde hair by the knives station, he headed over and tried to say hello.
His first words weren't very warmly received, so he just turned his attention back to the throwing knives. He was examining one when he heard a snarl and looked up at the girl. "Sorry, I was just trying to help," he said, hands raised in a sign of truce. "It's a tough skill to learn. I can show you what I know, if you'd like. I was here yesterday."
It's just a game || Jasmine + Piper
She knew she wasn’t liked by many people but it really hurt her when she was sitting alone at the knives section. She lets out a sad sigh, also getting frustrated as she throws another knife at the target, missing again/ “Ah!” She groans, throwing the last one onto the target with no purpose in her actions.  “Need help?” A voice asks her gently, she whips herself around, her blue eyes harden at the sight of another tribute. She gives up on being gentle, she’s strong. She doesn’t need sympathy. She blanks her emotions as well as her voice, turning back around to grab a new bunch of knives. “No, I’m fine.” Her voice simple and clear, twirling he knife in her fingers, now trying to focus but the tribute walks towards her, standing beside her making her lose her concentration. She growls lightly in frustration. “Yes?” She manages to say to him, still trying to concentrate.

"Well, sorry to disappoint," Piper said with a weary smile. Most of the day had been spent teaching himself various skills, he supposed struggling through one more wouldn't be too difficult. "Doesn't mean we can't try."
Piper looked around the station for a few moments before, lo and behold, he found a single page with a guide for how to throw the axes. "These things have been more helpful than the trainers," he said, pushing the page so that they could both see it. He looked over it for a few moments, mimicking the illustration for how to hold the ax. As he did so, he glanced over at his companion now and again, waiting until he had finished reading before venturing to speak. "I know we've met, but what's your name again? There are so many, it's hard to keep track of all of them."

lucky toss | morrissey and piper
A saddle shaped bandage graced the bridge of Piper's nose as he approached the ax station. There was a stiffness in his movements, an element that had not been part of his character in the slightest the night before, or even in the morning. He looked over the wide selection, trying to decide where to begin. There was an array of tomahawks designed for throwing, and a wall of larger axes intended for close ranged combat.
He took up a medium-sized tomahawk, lifting and lowering it to get a feel for its weight. After a moment, he took a larger one into his other hand for comparison. A metallic clink alerted him to the presence of another tribute and he turned to see a familiar face examining the weapons as well. Piper knew he'd talked to the boy before, but it hadn't been for long. He muttered a soft greeting before turning his attention back to the axes in his hands. "I don't suppose you have any experience with these by any chance, hm?"

A small sigh left Piper's lips. Zeta was a stubborn little thing. He tilted his chin up and let her go at his neck for a few moment while he tried to plot out his next move. Maybe trying to get to her in one sitting wasn't going to work-- but there were three perfectly good days of training left on the horizon.
"I'm not the the dumb one for thinking it's real," he said calmly, the reverberation in his throat tickling her lips. "You're the dumb one for letting me see it and then trying to convince me otherwise."
With a firm hold on her hips, Piper gave a small push to free his groin from its eminent doom against her knee. "I don't need any more kisses. Like you said, sweetheart, I have a lover boy for that."
With a final, playful smirk, Piper turned and headed back in to the training center. He'd done it. He'd resisted. There wasn't a kiss shared between them, and he'd restrained himself to a decent degree. Caine would be proud of me.
say it isn't so | zeta and piper
Zeta knew exactly what Piper was doing, but somehow she couldn’t stop her body wanting to respond in a way alien to her. As his fingertips wriggled up her shirt Zeta remained silent, the only noise escaping was her steady breathing. He was trying to get in, to slither in and bust out her ‘sweet’ side but she refused to let him succeed.
Pulling away from him and shaking her head she turned her back on him as she spoke.
“Stop trying to appeal to my ‘good’ side. You must be really dumb if you think it was real. I don’t care about you. But, unfortunately for me: you’re hot”
With a renewed sense of ferocity, Zeta turned back to Piper and quickly regained control. Leaning up she kissed against his neck softly, varying pressures, sometimes it felt like air and sometimes there was a little nip that went with it too. One of her hands had found itself entangled in his hair and the other fiddling with the bottom of his shirt, fingertips dancing along his skin.
Not a little angel anymore, am I…?

There it was. It might have only been present for a moment, but Piper got a glimpse of the unsure little little being that he knew was hidden beneath Zeta's intimidating facade. That one little look was all he needed to confirm that it did, in fact, exist. That was the being he'd channeled that night, and the one he'd have to reach again if he wanted to leave victorious.
"Well, you know as well as anyone else around here that I have nothing against having a beautiful girl in my arms," he chuckled. His dark fingertips slid further and further up her shirt, teasingly grazing her sides, before resting on her waist once more.
"But I do mind it when she's acting like a tin soldier, hiding behind a painted face and a hard exterior." Piper pulled his head back from hers ever so slightly, giving her the charming sincere smile he could offer. "When I know there's a Princess on the inside, just waiting to be pampered."
say it isn't so | zeta and piper
Zeta let out a hint of a laugh at his reply. Of course, it seemed almost typical of Piper to say something like that. His attitude only got so far but her mind wondered whether he would actually go through with anything, if he would dare. It would certainly test just how much he loved Caine and just by the fact he was staying here suggested it wasn’t that much.
A little confusion spread through Zeta as he spoke again. His whole tone had changed into something more gentle, and Zeta just stared back. This is what he’d done the other night that made her let down her defenses so fast. And she’d be damned if she let it happen again.
“I’m not being guarded,” Zeta lied. “Like you said, you’re just seeing my true colours.” Her hand that was still on his neck started to play with his hair gently and she moved even closer, their bodies together tightly. “And to me, it doesn’t look like you mind so much”

Piper bit his lip subtly as she kneed his groin. It seemed she was playing hard ball with him. It would be a cold day in hell before Piper allowed himself to be pushed around - especially by a girl who he'd had wrapped around his finger the night before.
Wow. He didn't usually think of himself as the manipulative type. Maybe he and Zeta had more in common that he realized.
"I suppose I do. But I was always taught to clean my own messes. I'd think the perpetrator should be the one kissing." He tightened his hold on her hips in an intensified rendition of a caress.
"You don't have to be so guarded, Zeta," he whispered softly, "It's just me."
say it isn't so | zeta and piper
Zeta closed her eyes as she felt Piper’s cool fingers run over her waist; the pads of his fingers varying in pressure on her skin. She could feel the desperation practically transferring from Piper to her in his simple touch.
Piper withdrew suddenly and looked at the wall which made Zeta curious. Lifting her hand she slid it from his chest to his neck, her thumb caressing his jawline softly. “Hey,” she mumbled softly, hating the attention being off of her.
Once Piper returned his attention Zeta could tell something was up. He wasn’t getting as nervous, his eyes had become steady and the timbre of his voice, smoother. ‘He decided he wants to play?’ Zeta asked herself. ‘Well let’s play!’.
Zeta decided on her next move immediately after. Her knee was still in between his so slowly she moved it upwards, touching his crotch very lightly, ready to push further if necessary.
All the while, she remained in eye contact with him. Zeta refused to kiss his lips just yet, if at all. She found the lips to be too romantic, too caring for what they were doing. These lustful tendencies seemed to draw them both back together and she was determined to find out why.
“Is that so?” Zeta inquired. Pressing a little harder on his crotch than before. “Sorry if I hurt you. But you know, you always have lover boy to kiss it better hm?”
