Our very 1st SnapBacks
For a while we’ve been wanting to make some snapbacks for our brand. It took some time but finally decided to go for it.
The process was new to us, but we enjoyed every step of it. We sketched out several designs and chose the top 3 to be part of the new collection. We searched around for manufacturers that could do full customization including raised embroidery, patch with merrowed edges, back flag, stitching, etc., from 15 we narrowed it down to 3.
When the design, colors, and fit were finalized we sent the order out to get  produced. A month later we got our hats, salieron #chingonas! Andaliego (gray with white mesh), Marinero (navy blue), and Vigilante (black on black) were now part of Pipiripau’s new hat series.

Gallo Navajas

Gabino Barrera: A Short Film by Us
vimeo
We recently introduced a new design named ‘Gabino Barrera’ the second in a series of folklore legends from the Mexican Revolution.
The inspiration for this character’s story came after studying and researching a Mexican ballad with the same name “Gabino Barrera”, which has been interpreted by various artists, including Chavela Vargas; which is the artist we knew would give it the musical tone we were looking for.
We wanted the final video to have a stylized look. The design itself inspired us to go with a Sin City-esque color palette (black, white, red) along with high contrast and the incorporation of illustrated objects.

2014 World Cup Tee Pelotero
Tumblr media
Once every four years the soccer ball rolls, the crowds cheer, and the colors of many nations shine. A battleground where many teams trade their heart, sweat and tears for that first place trophy we call “The World Cup”. The 2014 World Cup finally arrived and we welcomed it with a T-Shirt designed in that Pipiripau flavor.
We named it “Pelotero” meaning ball player in our sense. The whole idea behind the design which draped in Mexico’s tri-color scheme, was to show our cultural pride and whichever flag you wave, whatever colors you wear, wear them proud with honor and style.
Our sincere most respect goes to every single country who participated and left everything they had on the field, and above all… may the best F*%king team win.

2014 Spring Collection
2014 has been a great year for us here at Pipiripau, we’ve introduced our new mark “El Gallo” with new tags, an animated video showing the evolution of our mark, stickers and our most recent work, a few new t-shirts embracing the new traits of “El Gallo”.
Our 2014 spring Collection consists of two different designs. “El Gallo Classic Gray” with our basic mark on a tri-blend tee and “El Gallo Tinto” takes form of our mark with tiny illustrations portraying tattoos and how each drop of ink tells a life story

From CA to NY with Love
Our trip to the NYC was quite an experience. Being from California we are not used to the sky scrapers, the subways, the flow of yellow cabs on every corner and the 50 million miles we covered throughout the city walking from one end to the other.
Being there for the first time it gave us a different kind of vibe, one that cannot be described only experienced. For the amount of time being there we got a brief but good understanding of the fast NYC life. Coming back to our home California we can say it gave us the rhythm needed to experiment and explore with Pipiripau.
While we were there we decided to make an opportunity and bring something back home. We created this experimental video shot on the urban street of NYC and parts of DC (don’t worry no walls were harmed).

Pipiripau Reborn
The idea that a brands identity begins with a solid philosophy and a simple sketch, everything else follows.
In 2011 Pipiripau began with a logo as a “P” encircled by two rings (as we see in the sketch) through the transformation of time and progression we arrive at our new logo in 2014, with “El Gallo".
El Gallo, which has multiple representations for the meaning of Pipiripau.

Tumblr media
After long nights and early mornings the new Pipiripau site is finally up and loaded. Really like the way it turned out, times like this that make every little second spent on it worth our hustle. Gotta thank “La Clica” de Pipiripau for all the hard work and dedication they’ve put into this project. Make sure to check out the revamped site at: www.pipiripau.com and let us know what you think.

Dia de los Muertos Tee
Tumblr media
This collection was inspired by El Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) festivities. A cultural holiday celebrated throughout Mexico and around the world. An event where we remember those who are no longer with us in flesh and blood, but very much alive in our thoughts and hearts. A celebration full of memories and tears of joy.
