Madness Concotion #10
Insanity-one鈥檚 imagination exhilaratingly beautiful
and terrifyingly macabre,
blends so seamlessly into reality
that truths and falsities become irreducible.

Happiness is something dumb people invented to give meaning to their lives. It gets people chasing ideas and things they do not need; things they cannot possess or once they do, they chase something else.

Birthday
I recently had a bday and it was one of the best ever. I got to spend a vacation with my little boy in Colorado and visit family I haven鈥檛 seen in a long time. Before I left, however, I realized how many great and wonderful people think of me, how much they think appreciate me, and how much they value my friendship. I don鈥檛 think I鈥檝e ever felt so loved on my bday.

Tonight I failed miserably trying to make rava dosa. Trying to be okay with failure as long as I learned something. Sooooo, tonight I learned all about papa john's online ordering and Tuesday night specials.

Fibonacci Zoetrope Sculptures
These are 3-D printed sculptures designed to animate when spun under a strobe light. The placement of the appendages is determined by the same method nature uses in pinecones and sunflowers. The rotation speed is synchronized to the strobe so that one flash occurs every time the sculpture turns 137.5潞鈥攖he golden angle. If you count the number of spirals on any of these sculptures you will find that they are always Fibonacci numbers.
For this video, rather than using a strobe, the camera was set to a very short shutter speed (1/4000 sec) in order to freeze the spinning sculpture.
John Edmark is an inventor/designer/artist. He teaches design at Stanford University.
