Chapter 1 of Aching to be Free is out now!

The weeks surrounding the anniversary of Arthur Fox's death are always difficult for Henry, and this year is no exception. OR Henry was sitting quietly, a mug of tea steaming on his lap, looking out the window. It was raining, which Henry was no stranger to, but unlike Alex, who would spend hours grumbling about how the foggy weather ruined his mood, Henry found it quite calming. It reminded him of his childhood, but the best parts. Going out into the streets of London with his father. Walking hand in hand down the streets, and smelling the wet pavement and blooming buds in the early days of spring. As he looked up at the sky, he saw the clouds parting, revealing the sea of black velvet night above him. In the exact place the clouds had parted, as if an omen from the gods, were three stars situated in a perfect line. Orion.

Chapter one of "Aching to be Free" premiering Friday, Jan 29

Since I was about 50% of the way through On Thin Ice, I've had an idea about writing another long fic, mostly focusing on the heavy parallels between Henry and his father. The first couple of chapters will be dispersed with memories about his father's death, and then the rest will have flashbacks to other moments of his childhood

The rest of the fic will be set a few years after the events of the book after Alex and Henry moved out of Brooklyn and will start right around the anniversary of Arthur's death. I also have big (very angsty) plans for the arc of this fic that will be revealed in the coming weeks.

The fic itself will be posted in segments 2-3k words long every Friday, aiming for it to be around 50k words total. And obviously, I couldn't resist using Queen lyric for the title. this line in particular is from The Show Must Go On, which is about Freddy Mercury's need to continue performing even though he knew that he was passing of AIDS.

I hope you all check it out, even though it's a very different vibe from the last long fic I've been working on.

My idea is that it would be pretty similar to the books, plot-wise. Rivals to lovers. Different teams. Eventually becoming friends and then secretly dating. Fwb to lovers. Being outed and then coming out during a press conference. Obviously not like, copy paste levels of similarity, but a lot.
