i think ultimately what ludonarrative dissonance is like angling for but failed to clearly express, is a dissonance between expectations of a game experience and the 'reality' of it, and that games can ferment dissonant expectations during the experience itself without changing the actual interactions that make up play

increasingly turning against the term ludonarrative dissonance because it perpetuates the very false dichotomy between ''story'' and ''mechanics'' that it seeks to resolve
