you dont have to be a parent to understand the horror of walking into a room to discover that the baby crawled out of his crib and onto that pottery wheel you forgot to turn off, and while the baby is spinning around and around, the dog is sitting there all calm, like a person, gently using his paws to fashion the babys soft cartilage head into something a little more modern. it might be the classic tale of bad parenting, but lets see where the dog is going with this

season 3 is underrated idc
this is pretty off the cuff, but i feel like season 3 has a lot of rewatch value compared to the other seasons. season 1 is classic for obvious reasons, but honestly season 3 is where we get some of the best character exploration, so you can really sink your teeth into the episodes and appreciate the subtle dynamics at play.
it's like, seasons 1 and 2 were very in-your-face in terms of the character's gags and main charm points. but season 3 trusts that the audience understands the characters well enough to write skits solely based around the brother's interactions and daily lives alone.
i think the best example of this is are the little convenience store skits.
there's no big gag, there's nothing bizarre going on. if anything, the situations they're in are completely mundane. they're neets, so it's a given that they have enough time to spend just doing whatever at a convenience store. but it's because they're neets that they have such a funny (albeit sad at times) perspective on relatively ordinary things, like staying too long inside a convenience store. the humor lies solely in the characters and the dialogue, rather than the situation.
but what makes this bit so good is that the world around them also acknowledges the neets and their lifestyle. because eventually, a sign gets put up, closing the seating area off.
and then the store clerk gets annoyed that they're loitering in front of the store and kicks them out
there's continuity at play in the third season that we don't really get in previous seasons. i think it gives the episodes more rewatch-ability, but also more longevity. once you've seen a skit from season 1 or 2, you've gotten the punch line and while it's still funny to rewatch, you're not really getting anything else out of it.
whereas with the skits in season 3, i feel like the more you rewatch, the more you discover because the humor feels more dry and witty, if that makes sense. the characters are also much more fully realized. the writers have a better grasp on these characters and what makes them interesting to the audience. on the other hand, season 1 just discovered the characters and season 2 was still figuring them out.
now don't get me wrong, i think season 3 is probably the least funny season. some of the episodes/skits were just plain unfunny to me. but somehow, i feel like it's kept me laughing the longest.
#amen brother!!!!#the thing is uhm. the brothers are getting to know each other as the seasons go by as much as we are#so in season one theyre recovering from.the highbschool breakup and osomatsus gathering them up for the first time again#and in season two theyre forming their groups#and having small fights where they realize they care about each other more than those#and forming little joking duos#like the jyushimatsu choromatsu duo where jyushi straight mans for him#the karamatsus a needy little brother to osomatsu#kara and totty have same interests so they hang out and bump heads when they get into each others areas#karas a shitty older brother to choro and leaves him in the dust#ichi and jyushi best brothers forever#-_-#season three is one of my favorites because it lets them stand alone and have this really fun relationship#with their brothers and its them growing closer and closer#raises my paw#and s3 has sooooo many straight mam jyushi eps its sooooo#jyushi being a big brother to the rice balls is forever king#apologizing to iyami for them..#s3 is king#i think they do a really good job with the whole show though.. im obsessed..#gomenesai for being in your tags op
