at some point in the late seasons dean and cas should have started wearing wedding rings. it’s never mentioned or acknowledged in any way whatsoever. the only answer they give when asked about it at cons is some variation of “it’s just jewelry, you guys are reading into it too much”. one single time during the divorce arc we get a shot of dean staring at his left hand and twisting the ring around on his finger.

gay celibacy. you are in a gay relationship, but the network (God) still won't acknowledge it. you can't have any one night stands. that would be weird. you are too old for that, and you are in a monogamous homosexual relationship and raise his son in your home with him. your father (God) comes back for one last family dinner. supposedly, it was your deepest wish. he approaches you after dinner to express his disappointment that you don't haven't settled down with a normal life and normal family. you tell him I have a family. your father (God) leaves. your greatest wish was fulfilled. your gay life partner comes back. you tell your brother. And I'm good with who I am. And maybe I'm just too damn old to want to change that. and a year later, you die a gay celibate.

i know it was kind of an accident but the way supernatural said god is a petulant little man who seeks nothing but violence and suffering and control. god is a washed up hack of a writer who has a drinking problem. god is an absent father and the creepy guy who comes into your job sometimes and if you’ve ever wondered how god could allow suffering it’s because he thinks it makes you more interesting.
