Kade was born into a city isolated from the rest of the world, an indestructible beacon of hope for every human. Oh my god-

Ok so!

In the height of me and my friends brainrot about blindra, I happened to be watching beauty and the beast for background noise while I was working. And I’m also a sucker for making aus, so one thing led to another and we started talking about a beauty and the beast au but with blindra.

I’m gonna start with some background information on the planning that went into the au, for give a better picture,

An oc of mine with the same name as pebs oc before we changed it was originally supposed to be in the role of Gaston, but the Hanaki fic and permission from pebbles allowed me to rethink and change who plays Gaston.

Making Electra the beast kinda just happened, we all just went “let’s be honest they would”

Blindra really fit the role of belle to a T, the outcast of the village, the very peculiar bookworm who doesn’t fit into the norm of society.

And if you’re going to include one freight, you gotta include all freights.

Now the actual au,

What can I say? I’m a bit of a romantic sap when it comes to ships. (You guys should have seen when I made someone on discord rant for 5 minute about howls moving castle but with brexnov) and once I just started thinking about the au, I couldn’t stop.

Apart from the fairytale setting, it just gives me emotions. Mostly from the relationships between characters

Electra and hydra are these two idiots finding their way through feelings, with hydra being more organized, only a smidge though. Electra was a snobbish prince, and now their ego is ruined by the way they look, people are revolted, disgusted, children cry at the sight of them. They shut themselves in, only their components stick by their side.

Hydra on the other hand, was looked only with pity, remorse, children would constantly look down on him. Because the whole village does. He’s blind, and every job in the village requires sight to some degree, he can’t be trusted with jobs, so what option does he have left? His siblings all have plans, ones that don’t or can’t include him in them. And Charybdis was right to some degree, momma won’t be around for much longer.

So meeting each other is a whiplash for both of them. I won’t spoil a lot because it’s still early in the fic, but Electra is finally meeting someone who physically can’t judge them for how they look, and hydra is finally meeting someone who wouldn’t never dare to pity them.

And Charybdis, oh Charybdis. The town hero, hopelessly in love with hydra, to a suffocating degree. She wants hydra to love her back, but she’s going about it in all the wrong ways, Hydra doesn’t want someone who doesn’t treat them like a person, he doesn’t want to sit in a gilded cage for the rest of his life. Charybdis can never see past face value, she wants to protect him, but her way is putting him in a glass case and parading him around town while going “look! Isn’t everyone proud?”

It really doesn’t help that the whole village is on her side, including Hydras own family. Apart from momma, all of them want Hydra to settle down, they know that they can’t be with him forever, and well, a gilded cage is still better than being out in the wild with no backup. They love him, and love makes you do or say, less than supportive things when you want to protect someone.

Any and all questions for the au are always welcome, even if I can’t answer them as throughly if it would spoil the story I will still try my best to be as in depth as I can.

Does Blindra ever get mad when people underestimate/ baby him because he’s blind. Especially when he first came to the yard

Hi thank you for the ask.

Oh absolutely, look hydra already trained himself how to navigate back in his lab, and even though he was disoriented at first he learned his way around. He dosent need other train to carry him everywhere.

He didn’t hold a grudge when he first got to the yard per se, as he was a bit grateful to be lead around and saved from smacking into random objects every 5 seconds. But after a while it got a tiny bit annoying to him.

And don’t even get him started in the actual show. Most of the trains that have been in the yard for a while know that he dosent need a personal guard 24/7. But oh boy did the electrics not get that memo. I’ve talked about how they’d react previously so I won’t go into details again. Bui t it took a good while for them to act relatively normal around hydra.

And pearl, well she was honestly just trying her best. Control had just gotten her, she was her first yard, and first time experiencing other trains. She was a bit overbearing but hydra couldn’t really blame her, or hold it against her. Though with Rusty’s help she eventually got use to it.
