been thinking about the abundance of people saying that funnybunny is a "gay straight ship" and anything else along those lines and Why people are saying that

because on a surface level I Get It and i agree. but also i think it has to do with the way the characters and the relationship is written. i think in media we're so used to m/f couples being forced, or shallow, or just kind of expected. main characters are a girl and a guy ohhhh i wonder what's gonna happen!!

meanwhile with so many queer relationships, and especially with dynamics in non-canon (or implied) ships, there's a lot of Intricate Rituals afoot. actions and words that are so emotionally charged on a deeper level but not explicitly romantic. the plausible deniability of "oh they're just good friends" meanwhile queer people and fujoshis can instantly clock "oh so they're in love." or even the infamous "divorced gay couple that weren't even together in the first place" dynamic we all love. you get what i mean. in not being explicitly romantic in canon, these dynamics between popularly shipped characters have extremely roundabout ways of showing affection and care. literally the basis of the whole 'constructing intricate rituals' art/meme.

i think the reason a lot of people see funnybunny as a queer ship, despite being m/f, is Because their dynamic is reminiscent of dynamics seen in queer ships in media. it's complicated and messy and easily teeters the line between familial and platonic and romantic, based entirely on viewer interpretation. just like tumblr's favorite yaoi&yuri. i just find that really interesting.

and also jax and pomni are both bi4bi gendersilly.

transfem jax but i don’t personally see jax as a Binary Trans Girl, but rather as a gnc dude/possibly nonbinary person that would feel a Lot more comfortable and happy breaking out of the “im a MAN” mindset and being feminine in ways he wouldnt allow himself before. jax is someone who is deeply repressed with internalized misogyny who is so so so anxious about how others perceive him that he doesn't allow himself to be anything But the masculine image he has set for himself or thinks he has to be. & while i think trans girl jax is a based headcanon/theory, i think it's just as valid to have jax reject the "feminine man = BAD" mindset and welcome traditionally feminine forms of gender expression no matter his gender identity. i personally love the idea of jax being genderfluid/bigender/some other flavor of "who gives a fuck" gender. i think whether or not jax identifies as trans in any way, he needs to realize that he's a baddie in a dress and be comfortable with that. he needs to realize that he likes "girly" stuff and makeup and not have that change anything about himself. non-binary transfem jax i love you

it kind of baffles me that none of the characters are mad at caine for kaufmo's abstraction. kaufmo abstracted because of his obsession with the exit door, something caine made and deliberately lied about. obviously caine isn't actively malicious and didn't intend for anything negative to come of it - he even made the exit because he knew the players wanted it - but it still was something that kaufmo likely saw, (just like pomni), was told didn't exist, and went insane over not being able to obtain. like idk id still be mega pissed at caine about it. even if they're used to caine's nonchalance/apathy towards people abstracting, it's still his own carelessness and gaslighting that drove kaufmo to insanity.
