While I'm effortposting about asexuality it's really frustrating to me when you guys talk about the societal normalization of marriage and stuff like it's somehow just a conspiracy to make your mom disappointed in you specifically when in reality marriage historically in most cultures that hold the concept of marriage the way the western world does has existed primarily to form family allegiances and pawn off women in the family as a domestic servant in exchange for a dowry or allyship between the two family units or financial allegiances or whatever. Like it genuinely did not ever matter in history if you actually liked your husband/wife let alone loved them or were attracted to them. The idea of marriage as a union between two people just because they love each other going mainstream is very very new in the grand scheme of things and I think it's genuinely early enough in the reevaluation of marriage as an institution that the idea of the eternally single individual (for ANY reason) not being any lesser than the married individual is not going to be particularly difficult to incorporate into the new perception if you all would just start to be smarter about it

I am "aroace" much as I might regret it simply for missing out on the strategic financial and social benefits of partnering up with someone. But like, that IS the main issue with "aphobia" imo. That is the most concrete, real-world consequence of having that identity and it can be a huge one. Most aroace advocation on this website is tragically out of touch with the real world both in the sense that if you had a lesbian friend irl you'd probably know she does also deal with this shit all the time, but also like, most of your real life problems that stem from an uh what's the word you use "allocentric"? your main problems that stem from being in an "allocentric" society are primarily financial and tax and social mobility related and could be solved more so by economic reform than insisting you're more oppressed than lesbians on the internet because you experience [thing lesbians very much also experience].
