i graduated university...

I miss obsessively listening to an artist Last time i did that was with David Bowie 4 years ago I remember the week before his death i tooka daytrip to julian with my family and first love We sat in the back seat and listened to the rise and fall I was comfortable and happy I cried looking at the stars out the passenger window That memory and moment felt like a small coming of age moment and i was a baby

Now i sit in my car crying to soul love missing having such kind memories of love and intimacy Everythings so fickle and selfish and just vapid

im sitting at my kitchen table thats covered in half finished crafts and my planner and a day old coffee cup sit beside me

its 8 am and ive been awake for 4 hours already

the knowledge that “graduation” is upon me kind of frightens me

school is a safe space where i get to indulge

the job market is not really open...

i dont even want to work in my field right now

i got offered a job at a bakery i visit almost daily in la jolla

i will be a pastry baker

it sounds like a good job to have post graduation

a verychill job

support my financial needs and be able to support my move to the east coast next may

but these are all hypotheticals so idk

Starting in 2019, Xinmei Liu has been a tremendous addition to the Paradise Systems team. As we were working to complete the Naked Body anthology, Xinmei’s design and editorial experience were invaluable. Since then, she has also worked on translating, editing, and designing a series of comics by Chinese cartoonists that respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. You can read the first of these comics here, here, and here.

In addition to working with us, Xinmei is an accomplished illustrator and printer. She is a graduate of Pratt Institute and is currently completing a MFA Illustration as Visual Essay program at the School of Visual Arts in New York. You can find more of her work here.
