What I love about The Good Place is that Eleanor was proven right. In the first two episodes, Eleanor declared that the system by which the afterlife runs - one in a million going to heaven while everyone else, even the morally okay people, face eternal torture - is not fair. At the moment it just looks like she’s complaining to justify her being in the Good Place, even if the viewer agrees with her.

But the narrative proves that Eleanor was completely right. Even if the audience agrees with Eleanor, that means nothing unless the narrative agrees as well, and it does. It shows that the elitist method by which the afterlife is run is so corrupt that no one has gotten into the good place for over five hundred years. It shows that holding people to ridiculously high moral standards, like how Tahani was deemed bad despite her good deeds just because she didn’t do anything for the right reasons, is not right, and it isn’t fair for people to be tormented for eternity just because they didn’t have the means to do some incredible thing such as ending slavery, or because they were just an average person, or because they were born in a certain place (those throwaway lines about Florida and France are funny but deeply disturbing).

The narrative begins with Chidi responding to Eleanor’s complaint with “Apparently, that’s not the way things work around here,” essentially saying “The system isn’t fair but this is just how it is.” The narrative is now saying “The system isn’t fair, so we have to change it.”

If Peeta had worked up the courage to talk to Katniss before the reaping. He would have had her wrapped around his finger. He had her so flustered when he flirted with her in THG.

Little Miss “this would have happened anyway” would’ve been falling over herself to kiss him in the meadow.

yo…. when jet breaks in the tea shop and accuses zuko and iroh of beinh firebenders….

do you think any of the patrons looked at zukos scarred face - obviously done by a firebender - and immediately think jet was an asshole? like

patrons, thinking about the backstory they concocted for zuko and iroh where their home was invaded by firebenders and they barely survived with their lifes so they could come and have a peaceful life selling tea in a city the war doesnt touch:

have katniss everdeen on the mind so. little rant.

The grossest mischaracterization I’ve seen in fanfics is the idea that Katniss hates kids and that’s why she never wanted to have any. If you think that is the case, you have WILDLY misinterpreted the entire reason why katniss foreswears having children throughout the trilogy. It’s the complete opposite; she loves kids so much that she couldn’t bear them suffering the inevitable pain that comes from living in Panem. She would rather not have children at all than have them be subjected to that. Throughout the series she consistently shows deep care and love for children (prim, rue) and that is such an integral part of her character. She is inherently maternal and she knows that’s one of her weaknesses. I’ve seen fics where katniss looks at a kid and thinks “wow what a brat kids are so smelly I never want to have any” and others where she’s pregnant and is thinking “im only really having this child for Peeta, I don’t even know if I’ll be capable of loving it as much”, just so that they can eventually have a scene where she gives birth and is like “omg I love this child so much wow I was so wrong to not want kids!”. NO!! YOU READ THE BOOKS WITH YOUR EYES CLOSED!!!

i hate driving. here are the laws! if you break them there will be consequences! except youre also expected to break the law just a little bit. people will get mad at you if you dont. you dont have right of way but the person who does is waving you forward for some reason. here's the speed limit! it's not the speed limit, the actual speed limit is that plus ~5-10. the light is green but you're in the turning lane. can you go? should you have gone just then? the person behind you is honking at you. there's a weird noise coming from your engine; if you try to do the right thing and get it checked out, will you get scammed? you are driving a 1-2 ton metal machine rocketing at speeds unknown to humankind for most of history. around a million people die in car accidents every year; that's about one person every thirty seconds. if you take that seriously and try to drive safely then people get mad at you.
