Greed did feel a little bad about being so blunt given the kid's reaction, but he also wasn't about to sugarcoat or lie about it either. Besides, he didn't know this kid so he wasn't sure why he felt a little bad at all. Except... being around Ling and Ed had changed him. Probably for the better if he were honest with himself. That time with his friends had given him clarity about himself that he had never had before. It had also taught him empathy. He had always liked humans and chimera but before Ling and Ed he had never truly appreciated them as something other than possessions.

He had learned how to have friends and that people were more than something to possess and enjoy. Maybe that's why he felt bad for this kid. But he also didn't trust the boy either. If he were upset about the other homunculi dying then that meant he had known them and could have known what they were up and not have a problem with it. Greed didn't like the idea of that at all. He didn't like the possibility of some of his Father's allies being around. Though he wasn't sure how much trouble a kid could be.

His eyes widened a bit at the boy's confession. Another Homunculus? How had Father even been able to make him? "What's your name?" As far as he knew Father only took the sins from his own body to make them. Had there been another way to create a homunculus? He always believed there was no such thing as no such thing so anything regarding Father was possible. "And how come you weren't with the others when it all went down?" It was strange to him that this boy had been kept away from the rest of his siblings. He had left Father early on enough that it didn't surprise him he had never met the kid before considering he had never met Wrath until their fight in the tunnels. "If you come here to start trouble, don't. I won't hurt you unless you try to hurt me or others."

Wrath's tight fist uncurled from Greed's vest and dropped slowly to his side. "But... But they..." The words died on his lips as his throat tightened. Father and Envy had never told him about that part of the plan. With his sometimes unpredictable and childish reactions, Wrath was only given as much information as he was needed to do as he was told. He'd known that they were gathering power for Father and that the homunculus who shared his name had the military under his command, but killing everyone? Wasn't it just supposed to be the people labeled as sacrifices?

So why did this other homunculus know more about what had happened than he did? He clearly wasn't working for Father, and he didn't even seem fazed by the death of the other homunculi. Wrath had claimed he wasn't afraid seeing him for the first time, but he was dead wrong. He was afraid. Afraid of whatever had gotten so many powerful beings killed, afraid of being left on his own, afraid of how his man who knew so much and cared so little could be connected to whatever had happened. But if they were the only homunculi left, in some way, knowing that Greed existed was almost a lifeline, even if Wrath didn't have any reason to trust him.

He stared up at Greed almost unseeingly as the questions were fired at him. Breaths shallow and shaky, he responded automatically, just as he would if any of the homunculi he knew were demanding answers. "I... I did what they told me..." he forced out in a near whisper. "They took me off of the island to help Father, a-and I just..." Swallowing hard though the chaotic whirl of thoughts and emotions, he raised a hand to point at Greed's ouroboros. "I'm a homunculus, too."

"For a long time. Not really. There were some humans I had a long time ago that Father killed because he didn't want me to have anything of my own, and that was hard, but I've moved on from it. I do miss my old crew from the Devil's Nest. They deserved better than to be cut down by Bradley." The quiet part that he didn't say is that he would always feel guilty for not being able to save them or at least trying harder.

Greed wasn't sure what to make of this kid. How did he know about the homunculi? That in itself set off his mistrust, especially given the kid's reaction to hearing they were dead. Greed wasn't sorry about it. His siblings and Father were all assholes as far as he was concerned or too dumb to be useful. All they wanted to do was kill people, and that was something Greed could never get behind. He actually liked people despite their flaws. "Yep, all dead," he said matter-of-factually.

"Look, kid, they died when they tried to take over the country and kill everyone in it. People might be weak and fragile, but they never give up, and they fought back and won." Greed shrugged. "What's it to you, anyway? Who are you and how do you know about us?"

Wrath froze at his words, staring at Greed wide-eyed and stricken speechless. His mouth moved wordlessly for a few seconds before he croaked out, "Dead? A-all of them are dead?" Though none of them had ever been anything close to parental figures, they'd at least taken him in, kept him safe, and given him direction despite being created differently. And if all of them were gone except for him and Greed - who he knew very little about other than bits and pieces he'd head from the others - that left him completely alone again. Just like back on the island. An icy spear of dread lanced through his stomach.

Though his breaths came harsh and unsteady, he grit his teeth and stared Greed down, somewhere between a sharp glare and a desperate plea, grabbing a fistful of Greed's vest. "They can't all be dead! What happened to them?" he demanded, distracted from Greed's question by the sheer overwhelming nature of his revelation. It couldn't be true. What was he supposed to do if it was?

Greed didn't like the sound of that. How did this kid know Envy? Did that mean he knew about him as well? Probably considering he called Envy by name and not something else. "Envy's dead," he said bluntly. "Along with the rest of them. I'm the only one left."

He wasn't going to go into any kind of detail about it. He wasn't sure how much this kid knew, and Greed wasn't about to give up any more information than necessary. "What the hell do you want with Envy, anyway?" In his opinion Envy never had been good for much of anything except stirring up shit.

"You just seemed scared is all." But Greed hardly knew this boy well enough to know for sure. "What the hell are you doing out here, all alone?"

Greed did look somewhat intimidating, but Wrath wasn't about to admit it. Though he was well aware that he could heal from anything that happened to him and defend himself as well as any homunculus, he had no idea where he was or what Greed was capable of.

"I'm...looking for someone," he replied quickly, eyes flicking toward the ouroboros on Greed's hand as if to confirm what he was. "Envy. They're a homunculus like us, so you know them, right?"
