Actually life is beautiful because the sound I make while trying to breathe around hot food sounds like my dog trying to eat an apple. When I yawn my cat tries to put his face in my mouth like a little dentist man and when he yawns I put my finger in his obligate-carnivore trapzone and we both know he will not hurt me. When I do not fold my clothes, they do not hold it against me.
I am demonstrably sad, and lonely, and full of fear. But there are other people who will hold my hand, who will point out the hawk overhead, who will give you That Look in a public place. The other day at a coffee shop a child said "look! It's snowing!" so all of us strangers went to go look out the windows. It wasn't the first snow and it won't be the last but wasn't it lovely, like that?
How wonderful to live in a world where birds and frogs both say beep! How wonderful to have an ocean of beautiful sharks with their dinosaur teeth! How wonderful the moon and her changing face, how wonderful the bees and their dancing to communicate, how wonderful shrimp and their forbidden layers of vision! How wonderful, you, and what you will give the world! The way we love things enough to spend entire blogs devoted to them? How people will let me explain my Pokemon team to them? How we will both jump at the scare in the movie, how we laugh so loudly, how it feels to give someone your baking? How wonderful to be alive. I am sorry for forgetting.
This is the process of getting better. With wonderful people and wonderful strangers and wonderful friends: I am getting better, slowly. Thank you, whoever you are. In some way, you've been wonderful, and left a wonderful place in the world to ripple out to me. In some small way - isn't it beautiful - I promise, you've been helping.

Spell Loopholes
Wording a spell correctly is extremely important! We’ve all heard the stories of someone who cast a spell and technically had it come true, but in a way that wasn’t what they actually wanted at all! Here’s a list of common “loopholes” spells will take to get the job done, and how to make sure you get what you want!
🕯Taking its time- “I want money,” you tell the Universe, hoping to get some help with rent. Well, rent comes and there’s no extra cash in sight! Then, two weeks later, a surprise wad of cash all but lands in your lap. The spell came true, but not in time for when it mattered. This is easily fixed by adding “…by the end of the month,” or specifying what the money is for, which in this case was this month’s rent.
🕯No help needed- “I want money,” you say again. Magic will often take the path of least resistance, so if you’ve already got a paycheck on the way, the spell might not do much besides make sure it doesn’t get lost. There. Money. It can be good to specify that you want your spell to work in addition to everything you’re already doing!
🕯 Bare minimum- This time from your money spell, it arrives on time from an unexpected source! But it’s a quarter you found on the ground. Maybe three quarters. Not much help! If your intent would require the money to be close to a certain amount or any other specific like that, let it be known! The universe isn’t there to make assumptions.
🕯 For the worst- Let’s say you have two friends that have been flirting, so you cast a nice little spell to let any mutual interest between them blossom into a relationship and save them some trouble. It happens, but it turns out they do NOT work well with each other. They are interested in each other, but argue constantly and bring out the worst in each other. The relationship is hurting them both. You had the absolute best of intentions, but there was no way of knowing that would happen! This is why a lot of witches include the phrase, “for the highest good” in their spells, as a failsafe for any unexpected pitfalls like this that may be lurking. The universe will see them but doesn’t know to care unless you specify.
🕯Another layer- Once I made a dream bear to bring me more dreams. Well, I had lots more dreams, but couldn’t remember any of them! I didn’t think that was something I needed to specify. Make sure you hit every point you need to be satisfied with a result.
As a general rule, if my spell includes a prayer or petition of any sort, I take a few minutes and comb through it for stuff like this beforehand. What am I specifying? What am I leaving up to interpretation? Could any of that manifest in a way I would be unhappy with? Take a little time before you start casting to smooth out all those wrinkles! Best of wishes!

How to prep for Samhain ✬✬✬
So you realized Samhain’s coming soon and just like every year you’re rushing everything last second. Right? Welcome to the messy witch club. In this post I’m gonna share with you some ideas to help you maximize these days and get ready for Samhain in time;) Enjoy!
1) Buy your ritual pumpkin. Any type, size and shape would do. Whether at the farmers’ market or at the supermarket, it’s important to choose a healthy-looking orange buddy to keep you company for as long as possible, even when it dries. If unsure, don’t buy multiple pumpkins: just focus on choosing the one. Name it straight away. Call it by its name from the very start of your friendship.
2) Buy pumpkin for cooking purposes. Whole, chopped, sliced, puréed, powdered (does it even exist?), whatever. The secret here is to do your research and preselect a specific recipe that you’d like to follow, so you’re not wasting money buying random ingredients or extra pumpkin.
3) Have a ritual candle ready. Basic but important. Make sure you have at least one (preferably scented) medium-sized candle to create the right atmosphere in your sacred space. Planning ahead your Samhain ritual intentions helps you matching the color/scent of the candle to promote best results afterwards.
4) Sip spicy drinks/red wine. Stick to rustic, simple, peculiar aromas. Give space to new drinks. Anise tea anyone? Even a strongly spiced hot chocolate could be an alternative! The “red wine club” should in fact go for Pinot Noir. Carmenere, Castillo and Zinfandel are premium treats.
5) Ditch the jeans for dresses, skirts, tights, socks and leggings. Pretty self explanatory, but I encourage you to have fun wearing fancy stuff that hugs our beloved legs or shows them now that the season isn’t freezing yet. Plus, pants aren’t always so comfy. Take care of your girls from time to time…
6) Start familiarizing with your tarot deck or pendulum. Use your tools everyday, learn how they work and how they can be interpreted. This step is key to really take heed of Samhain’s magic: the chance to communicate with that part of our family and forefathers on the other side. This time of the year is favorable for divination and readings.
7) Check moon phases everyday. Just do it. Read about each phase, what it means and what action it does promote. That’d make you aware of the potential outcome of certain types of spells that you may want to cast later on Oct 31st. Also, being aligned with moon cycles during these two weeks will allow you to slowly progress in everyday life, especially from Samhain’s night onwards, as you’ll be able to view the upcoming year from a wiser perspective. 8) Stretch. “Oh wait what? Halloween workout? No way.”… No. Hear me out, breathe. This piece of advice is for making you feel in shape and physically ready for autumnal activities/everyday life. In fall, our muscles transition from the warmth of summer to the coldness of winter. Leaving them rigid and unstretched can cause the so called “seasonal pains”. We witches want to avoid that, ok? Commit to a 5-10 min stretching routine. If you like yoga, give it a try! If you’re a yogi/yogini, you’re one upping us all at this point… Good job!;D
9) Plan a house party or a night walk. Invite people over for a movie marathon, a tea party or pj party. This sabbat is perfect for indoor events/venues. However, the night walk and the trick or treat are definitely a must! Have a drink out, go crazy with makeup and outfits and have loads of random fun. Junk food allowed.
10) Invest in lip balm, hand cream and moisturizer. This is totally up to you and your own likings, though I’d suggest to go for more buttery formulas that can prevent any type of dryness or cold fissures. So m a j o r l y annoying…
11) Always, ALWAYS carry a flashlight with you this month. Safety first. +50 cookie points if you have it installed on your phone.
I really wish you all a good Samhain and hope this post was inspiring :D
xx

a jack-o-lantern ritual (and a magick pumpkin seed recipe)
samhain is approaching; we celebrate the end of the harvest and the beginning of the cold, dark days of the year. it serves as a spiritual new year for many pagans, and a time to honor and commune with the spirit world. jack-o-lanterns are home protectors against spiritual evil and mischief; here is a little ritual you can do as you carve your pumpkin to add a little extra magick to the tradition, and a recipe for blessed pumpkin seeds to bring you happiness and protection.
for the jack-o-lantern, you will need:
☾ a pumpkin (wish-granting, protection, prosperity)
☾ a tool for carving and scooping out the seeds
☾ black pepper (protection from evil)
☾ dried catnip (attracting good spirits, luck)
☾ a little tealight candle (white or black)
- before you begin carving, hold the carving knife in your hands and hone your personal magick into it. think thoughts of blessings, protection, and rebirth. when you feel it is adequately charged, carve open a lid and scoop the seeds out for later use.
- carve a face of your liking into the pumpkin.
- sprinkle black pepper into the pumpkin and whisper, “may you protect me from spirits evil and angry.”
- sprinkle catnip into the pumpkin and whisper, “may you bring me spirits sweet and kind.”
- place the candle in the pumpkin and set it outside your home as a charm of protection and good energy.
for the magick pumpkin seeds, you will need:
☾ cleaned pumpkin seeds (prosperity, love)
☾ olive oil (honoring ancestors, peace)
☾ a sprinkle of salt (cleansing, purification)
☾ a pinch of garlic powder (protection from evil, healing)
☾ a bowl, aluminum foil and a baking sheet
- lay a strip of aluminum foil over the baking sheet. preheat oven to 300° F.
- in a bowl, toss the seeds with olive oil, salt, and garlic powder to your taste.
- bake the seeds for 45 minutes, or until golden brown, stirring occasionally.

☾ beer or wine
leave a small chalice of wine/beer at your altar or by your door.
☾ breads or baked sweets
when eating at the table, leave an offering of bread on a plate and leave a seat open for spirits.
☾ apples or pears
cut an apple in half; eat half and leave the other half outside your home to share a blessing with the departed.
☾ flowers, or a pretty leaf arrangement
arrange some fall leaves outside (or in a cemetery) into a mosaic or nice design to pay respects to the earth spirits. make some dandelion wishes to spread their seeds; dandelions are known to call spirits.
☾ honey or pollen
buy some local honeycomb at a farmer’s market and place a small piece by the grave of a loved one or ancestor.
☾ incense or candles
light some incense at your altar or on your front porch and meditate on the smoke curling and rising to share a moment with the departed.

i started celebrating autumn and its spirits by making little leaf mosaics in neighborhoods that i take walks in! it keeps me mindful and appreciative of what autumn brings us, and serves as a little spirit offering around samhain. and maybe it’ll offer a little autumn wonder to passers-by.

Hi. I'm curious about haunted dolls, and while my mom forbid me from buying one, which I somehow understand, I'm still curious & want to learn about them. Do you have any experiences with them & could you tell me about it please? Also, have a great day. :)
Hi, I have quite a bit of experience with haunted dolls! Here are some things to keep in mind when working with haunted dolls
The spirits that attach themselves to dolls are typically the spirits of the deceased but can sometimes be demonic. Those are the only two types of beings I have ever come in contact with through dolls.
Each spirits connection to their doll differs as is the way they react to where you put their doll, how you handle it, and how attached to it they are. Some spirits reside within their dolls and use the doll as a literal vessel, others use them more as anchors and do not reside physically inside of the doll.
It is very common to find the spirits of deceased children attached to dolls
Something that is very important to keep in mind with deceased human spirits is that working with them is very different than working with other spirits/living entities. They may be stuck in a pattern they can not escape, they may be lost, they may be trying to move on and need help, and some are content to stay as they are. It is not your job to force anything to move on and do not let yourself get any sort of savior complex.
Some spirits may not feel comfortable talking about how they died but others may talk about it casually. Usually those that are uncomfortable talking about their death are younger spirits or had a traumatic death.
traumatic death dose not mean the spirit will automatically turn out malicious
Manifestations vary just like with living entities/spirits. Some will manifest very obviously by moving their doll, letting you hear them speak, small noises, footsteps, shadows, etc. Others may not manifest a lot and are content to sit and watch.
Some of you haunted dolls may not like each other or may want to be alone
I work with six haunted dolls and all of them are different. I got all of these dolls online but none of them were specifically listed as ‘haunted dolls’. I bought all of these dolls with the suspicious they were haunted because of the feeling I got from their listings. I recommend doing something like this or finding dolls at thrift stores, goodwill, yard sales, and estate sales.
This is Piper, she was one of my first haunted dolls. Piper releases a very strong energy, especially when she is unhappy. Piper does tend to fall a lot. Usually I will go to bed and wake up with her on the floor or slouched over but this has started happening less since I separated her from the other dolls. Piper dose not like to be near the other dolls, she can be in the same room but does not want her doll to touch or sit near the others. When I first got piper my cat would meow at her doll in the middle of the night and there were a couple times when I saw a small black figure hanging around that did not match the energy of anything else I worked with but very much fits the energy Piper gives off
Cynthia & Elena were the second and third dolls I got, Originally I only got Cynthia (the pink one) but her energy was very sad and lonely. While communicating with her I realized it was because she missed the other doll she had been with. So I found the seller who was selling the other doll and bought Elena as well. Cynthia & Elena are also a bit inactive but since they were reunited have exuded a happy, peaceful feeling. They are content to simply be near each other and do not cause much trouble. Though Elena will from time to time give off the same sad energy Cynthia did when she arrived alone I have not yet found the cause of it. They sometimes manifest through a lightheaded feeling.
James & Julie are a married couple who died in their late 60′s but usually manifest as a younger couple. They ,much like Cynthia & Elena, are mostly just content to stay with each other and continue their existence as is. James’ doll seems to attract bugs for no obvious reasons. If there are flies, ants, spiders, etc they will eventually make their way to his doll. It is to my understanding that James just likes bugs (much to Julie’s dismay). Julie is very attached to her doll and will get very distressed if anything happens to it. She enjoys having her doll’s skirts fluffed and making sure everything with her doll is as clean and pretty as possible.
This doll has never given me a name or a gender to address it by and I get the feeling the spirit inhabiting it is not human. There is a very dark, heavy feeling that comes from this doll that is very intense even in comparison to piper. This doll have very beautiful royal blue eyes but for some reason they almost always look solid black no matter where you look at it from. I still have a lot of work to do with this doll.
Haunted Dolls are all different and some may be more active and mischievous than others. Goodluck!
