7 Ways to Clean your Stinky Garbage Disposal
Garbage disposal is one of the most important parts of your kitchen design. Irregular cleaning of a garbage disposal can lead to the formation of stench due to the decomposition of food waste stuck in the system. If you know the tricks, cleaning garbage disposal is a cakewalk.
Tumblr media
Tips to clean garbage disposal
1. The visible part
Use a scrub brush or a dish wand to apply dishwashing soap on the visible part of your garbage disposal unit. Do not forget the rim where the sink meets the disposal unit. Trapped food particles need to be removed properly from this section. Wash it thoroughly.
2. The housing part
Let the kitchen faucet flow when you are using the disposal unit. It helps to wash out the left debris of food from the unit. Soak the housing part by stopping the sink drain, fill it half and a little dish soap. You can also use vinegar to get rid of stubborn dirt. The soapy or acidic water will remove dirt on its way out when the disposal unit is opened.
3. Salt and ice mixture
Using a mixture of salt and ice, you can scrub inside the disposal unit. You will not have to put in any equipment as the abrasive mixture will clean slime from the surfaces inside the disposal unit.
4. Citrus peels
Use the remaining citrus peels or fruit going to be bad and prepare a rough grind. You can use this ground mixture to clean inside the disposal unit and also use its smell to mask the stench. The citrus remnants will act as a deodorizing agent inside the disposal unit.
5. Routine flushing
Why wait to make it more complicated? Always use your garbage disposal on a regular basis to get rid of the unnecessary bits of food stuck inside the unit’s internal surface. You can also use hot water and slowly stream it inside to remove odor and clean the machine. Once you are done with the hot water idea, run the unit for a better output. Repeat this process regularly to keep your disposal unit in good shape.
6. Vinegar and baking soda
Another deodorizing mixture, vinegar and baking soda mixture is one of the most effective DIY recipes for garbage disposal cleaning. All you have to do is to fill the drain with baking soda and then pour a cup of vinegar slowly. You can also use oxygen bleach.
7. Deep cleaning process
You can hire a service to get the job done if all the ideas do not work and the smell persists.
This is how you can clean your garbage disposal effectively.

Why Should You Hire a Used Oil collection and recycling services for your restaurant?
The more you recycle, the less you impart stress on nature. Our environment will be able to survive from the huge pressure we have created to support our increasing population. This is where the initiatives from the oil recycling services can be of great help. The commercial kitchens in restaurants and eateries will be extremely benefitted from hiring such services.
Tumblr media
Benefits of used oil collection and recycling service
Here are the reasons for hiring a used oil collection and recycling service.
Reducing unwanted waste
Picking up and recycling them is a great way to check the deposition of unwanted single-use plastic items on the earth surface and oceans. The same is necessary for the used oil released in the sewers by the restaurants and commercial kitchens. The amount is pretty huge. These oil components reach the rivers and then end up in the marine ecosystem harming every life-form in it. On recycling used cooking oil will reduce the amount ending up in the oceans to a considerable extent.
Storage of waste oil
The storage of waste oil will also help the environment a lot. This oil will eventually be recycled to produce different products and use them again. Proper disposal will also keep the environment safe on the first hand. Moreover, hiring a professional company will also stop oil spillage and unnecessary oil disposal in the sewers. The professional setup will be capable enough of collecting waste oil properly using proper tools and storage containers.
Education is important
Hiring a service for used oil recycling will also educate the entire staff of your restaurant. The harm it causes to the environment and the imminent threat it poses on the ecosystem will be properly explained. On knowing how to dispose of waste oil, the situation can be controlled to a huge extent.  You will know the correct way of disposing of oil and will follow the standard protocols. On following the industry standards, you will also participate in keeping the environment safe from such disasters.
Safe disposal
If you do not have the expertise for safely disposing of used oil, you can always seek professional help and act as a responsible citizen. In fact, you can rest assured that calling in service for cleaning waste oil will also be cost-efficient. Your restaurant will get rid of unwanted oil in the most proficient way.
Maintaining your equipment
Your equipment will also get a proper maintenance service from the professional waste oil disposal unit you have contacted. On properly cleaning off waste oil, the equipment will also enjoy a prolonged life span.
Hiring a professional service for used oil collection and recycling will be extremely beneficial for your restaurant.

7 Tips to Prevent Sewage Backup to Avoid Water Damage
When you get to see damaged floors, furniture, walls, appliances as well as electrical then it’s an indication of sewage backups. If timely attention is not given it can turn to be a serious problem. Some of the destruction, caused by a sewage backup is not covered by homeowner’s insurance policies until and unless the specific rider is taken. We are sharing with you 7 Tips for Preventing Sewage Backup to Avoid Water Damage
Tumblr media
1.     Maintenance of the sewer lateral. Many homeowners fail to realize that it's their responsibility to ensure the maintenance of the pipeline connecting the house with the city’s sewer main. The lateral which is cracked, degraded or filled with roots of trees will attract groundwater to move in causing damage to the pipeline. Repair the sewer lateral to avoid such problems.
2.     Disposal of grease. Avoid spilling of cooking oil in the drain. After cooling of oil, it will accumulate in the drain and clog the drain making it difficult to pass water. Dispose of the accumulated grease for free-flowing of water.
3.     Invest in plastic piping. We recommend you to replace your traditional pipes with plastic pipes. The Tree roots will fail to break the plastic piping, and so it will establish a secured pipeline and avoid the occurrence of water damage.
4.     Proper Disposal of paper products. Avoid the habit of disposing Paper towels, cloth diapers and sanitary napkins in toilet. If you do that then that will take a longer duration to deteriorate and will end up clogging the line. Use a separate dustbin to collect such wastage for proper disposal.
5.     Rectify defective plumbing connections. Based on the location you reside you may find that your main pipeline is having some illegal connection, pumps or other flood systems link to your sewer. Such illegal connections may accumulate debris and clog the line and cause sewage backup leading to water damage in your property.
6.     Consider a backwater prevention valve. Get the installation of the backwater valve done in your sewer line located at the basement. This will move back the sewage in place of entering and clogging the line. If the installation is done and maintained well, then it will serve as a shield in the sewer backup prevention.
7.     Conduct annual inspection: If the sewer systems maintenance is difficult for you to do then, hire a skilled professional for sewer line inspection. The expert will identify issues and will recommend how to avoid sewage backups from happening.
Hope the above tips will help to prevent sewage backup for avoiding water damage

5 Signs You Need to Replace Your Plumbing Fixtures
Plumbing Fixtures are not something that needs constant replacing but once in a decade they show some cracks and it becomes evident that one needs more than a repair this time. Postponing these repairs can cause major and irreplaceable loss to your kitchen and bathroom area. There are a few signs that must warn you about replacing the plumbing fixtures, some of these signs are:
Tumblr media
1)  Broken or cracked porcelain
Broken or cracked porcelain cannot be repaired, it is only meant to be replaced. Repairing cracked porcelain (be it on the sink, toilet seat or the washbasin) will cause more harm than good. Cracked porcelain should be replaced immediately.
2)   Obvious water issues
If your faucet is leaking, your faucets are jamming, or there are pools of water on the floor because of leakage then it is an obvious sign that the plumbing equipment needs replacement. If your drains are getting clogged frequently even after you clean then with home solutions like vinegar and baking soda flush then it is time to call a plumber and get the drains sorted.
3) Poor water volume
Under normal circumstances, the water pressure has a good amount of force and diameter, but when the pipes corrode or get stuck with debris their diameter reduces dramatically. This leads to less and less water pressure and water quantity being released. If there is poor water volume on a continuous and prolonged basis then chances are that your water pipes are corroded. It is best to change the pipe as soon as you figure out the problem.
4) Water quality problems
If your taps, water heaters, or flush is giving out foul-smelling water then this is an indication that you need to replace your plumbing fixtures. Often when the water pipes or geyser parts get corroded or rusted, they start emitted metallic smell and eventually a foul smell gets seeped in water. When something like this happens, then its time to get your geyser or water pipes replaced.
5) Mold
Mould is another sign that shows that your bath or kitchen needs to replace water pipes. The seepage of water is the first sign that your water pipes are leaking and hence the permanent wetness has given away to the mold that appears on walls and ceilings. Poor waterproofing also results in mold. It is better to get the water seepage fixed before it causes major damage to walls and ceilings.

How Does Toilet Paper Harm Your Plumbing Lines?
The drainage pipe running underground your home is meant to allow free flow of water, and connects to the main sewerage of your town. Nothing is felt troublesome so far this flow is smooth. But what if there are many unwanted objects join together, and clog the sewerage pipe? You can imagine the horrible consequences. Toilet Paper you and your family members throw in the bathroom every day is the biggest villain, to cause clogging of water flow in the drainage pipes.
Tumblr media
The possible reasons for clogging of sewerage pipes due to Toilet Paper are –
The volume of Toilet Paper is abnormally high: Under each flush, some Toilet Paper with human waste goes down the drain. There is a limit for everything. Supposing yourself or kids in your family throw excessive volume of Toilet Paper and does not flush well, the bundle gets bulk and dried up. Over a period, no wonder this starts accumulating over and over again, resulting in clog.
The Toilet Paper does not dissolve well: Normally the Toilet Paper manufacturers send to market different kinds and thickness of Toilet Papers, such as soft, medium thick and heavily thick to enable buyers to choose. Supposing the Toilet Paper you had bought does not conform to these specifications of easily dissolving in water, it can definitely cause clog. In order to avoid this menace, you should be careful when buying the Toilet Paper, and check whether it is soft to touch, dissolves easily on water, gets absorbed by water within seconds etc.
Feminine Hygiene products and flushable wipes also add the reason for drainage clogging. Although these items are manufactured with water-absorbing tissues and cotton, when they join hands with Toilet Paper bundles, the risk becomes more. So the ideal thing is you must advise your family members of these perils, and caution them against throwing all and sundries into the Toilet drain. Instead these can be dumped inside the garbage drums in public with a cover, to safeguard your drainage pipes from clogging.
If you have been careful against throwing Toilet Paper bundles inside the flush, and still you get frequent clogging of your sewerage, be sure the problem is elsewhere. May be old and worn out iron pipes getting rusted and broken midway or tree roots obstructing the flow etc. can also cause clogging. In such cases, better you call in experts in drainage cleaning in your local area, who will find out the real reason in no time and resolve your problem of sewerage block permanently. Thus you can save lot of money and unwanted troubles.

How to Unclog Laundry Room Sink Drain?
Tumblr media
Water clogging in the Laundry Room Sink Drain is experienced in many homes. The reason is the Washing Machine Sink is connected to a U-shaped pipe underneath, to drain the water. This is a safety arrangement for the drained water not to back up or overflowing. Yet when the water clogging is farther down the drain pipes, you can get water not flowing freely and spill out everywhere.
Before calling in a local plumber or Emergency Plumber for Sewer Clog clearance, you can try to fix the problem by yourself.
Tools and things required:
Keep ready the following – boiling water; dish washing liquid; safety gloves; adjustable wrench; pliers; pipe snake or augur; Plunger; and an empty bucket. First find out the extent of blogging – if there is no water in the Sink, pour some boiled water and see how it goes down. If the draining is slow or stopped completely, you can understand the clog is severe, which extends beyond the U-shaped drain pipe.
Step by step trials:
So you have to try sending the hand-held home augur first inside, to probe if there are any obstructions of minor nature, to get pierced through. The augur should be used slowly without any hurry, and you can feel the obstructions if any. The augur will pierce smaller obstructions and the drain water will flow. Check it by pouring dish washing liquid, mixed with boiling water.
Use the Snake next:
The plumbers snake will go down with flexibility, to penetrate through curves in the pipe line. You can use the snake to probe if there is any obstruction inside the pipeline. Push the snake gently, applying even pressure so as to unclog any obstruction in the pipelines by some thick materials. If this is not successful, go to the next step.
Dismantle the U-shaped drain pipe:
This is a fitting with screws and you can unscrew them to dismantle the pipe. Now the drain water will straight away fall into the pit and you can place a bucket for collecting the water.
Use the Sink Plunger:
These Plungers are red-rubber suction tools designed in cup style. The Plunger should be used tactfully, to apply gentle pressure to form a seal between the basin and the Plunger. This action should be repeated for some time, until you see the clogged water goes down the drain. Depending upon the severity of the clog, it may take several attempts.
Most of the Laundry Room Drain Sink clogging is removed by this action of the Plunger successfully.
If all the above efforts fail, you can call the Emergency Plumbing Service to resolve the problem.

Does Your Toilet Back Up into Shower? What to Do?
Tumblr media
The moment you notice that the Sewage is backing up right from your toilet and that too into the shower then same need to be fixed on an immediate basis.  The situation is not only critical but pathetic too. This type of toilet backup clearly indicates that there is a clog developed in the prime sewer line which is pushing the plumbing drains and leads to backing up of sinks and washers.
On the other hand, there can be another possibility and that is the development of clog inside a shared drain pipe which is linked with both toilet as well as the shower drains. In such a scenario, the problem will remain restricted to the shower as well as the toilet too.
In general maximum blockages can be cleared using a plunger or any toilet auger. If this process is not helpful then it means the clog is developed much more inside the stack.  Well in this case what you need to do….
First Close your toilet drain and block it when you act towards plunging the toilet. By Blocking the toilet drain you will create more pressure on the obstruction or clog present inside the stack.
You may need to clear the existing blockage using a toilet auger in case plunging is causing no effect. Move the auger head inside the toilet bowl and then push it as much as you can till the time you encounter any resistance. Now Crank its handle to move the head right through the existing obstruction.
Look for a cleanout fitting in case you managed to fully extend its auger inside the toilet without facing resistance. You may find it below the toilet or it may be in your basement at a specific point where the waste stack is connecting with the sewer.
Just place a bucket below this fitting. Now put on rubber gloves for unscrewing the cap using adjustable pliers. If the blockage is developed right under the fitting then, in that case, the water will surely spill out. But if that is not the case then you need to place the auger in one direction first and then to the other, till the time you reach the blockage. Now move the head right through it. Once the blockage is cleared completely you can put the cap back to place.  It is advisable that you have with you bare minimum equipment for clearing of Blockage in the sewage pipe.
If you find it difficult to discover the blockage seek the assistance of professional experts to get the cleaning done.
