Unpopular Sonic Opinion:

Elise not crying for 10 years? Not a real issue. Sure, you could explain how she went years without crying if you wanted, but it's not absolutely necessary. My personal interpretation is that the blue emerald gave Elise the emotional strength she needed to not cry, going off what Blaze said about how the Chaos Emeralds turn thoughts into power. Basically, by remembering her father's words ("don't cry"), she was given "power" in the form of emotional repression.

This plot-point gets so much pushback because people are unwilling to suspend their disbelief... even though they do with other things in the series.

For instance, nobody talks about how unrealistic it is that Maria was able to muster up the strength to give a speech to Shadow in her final moments despite being shot. Realistically, a person of her age and size (and with an illness) would be screaming in agony if they were shot, not giving a speech. However, we suspend our disbelief because Maria's speech was important to the plot (and also because Maria screaming in pain would be inappropriate).

Of course, this isn't even mentioning the plethora of other unrealistic elements in Sonic's world like the loops, the architecture floating in the midair, everything with the Chaos Emeralds, etc. There might be some realism here and there, but as a whole, Sonic's world and its inhabitants aren't completely similar to ours. This includes the humans.

Soleanna has giant eagles that carry them through the skies. There are pillars in Kingdom Valley that summon magical wind for people to ride on. How about the waterfall vortex in the mach-speed section? And this isn't like other strange areas where we're not sure how they got there. Kingdom Valley was built by and for humans; the Soleanna Royal Family. Elise and her family are obviously not "regular" humans and have some form of magic, which is why they were entrusted with the Flame of Hope.

It doesn't matter that in our world, an 8 year old girl wouldn't have been able to not cry for a decade. "Don't cry" was what Elise's father always taught her, and those were his last words. In the game's world, Elise did her best to honor her father's wishes (which makes her pretty similar to Shadow, now that I think about it...) and was able to repress her sorrow for a decade. And that's that.

I also can't help but feel part of reason her backstory gets complaints for being unrealistic is (whether intentional or not) misogyny. As said before, people don't have an issue with many unrealistic things in this series, but the concept of a girl not crying for 10 years is something they're SO staunchly against and absolutely cannot suspend their disbelief for?? I dunno, it just seems odd to me..

It’s interesting when one isolates Godot from all before him or selectively ignore all before and after him, in effort to wish or claim toxic masculinity (smokescreen of saying sexist or misogynist or whatever gull down term tactic). People love running away and saying execution falls flat. It’s a common form of manipulation that reels legions of fishes in. Just say that & add some generic crusty long yap to attract lames easily.

May also feature the great Over exaggeration and weaponization because they aren’t less as they want them to be or as they they’ve been bread up to believe due to wanting copy pastes of common crap.
