Not exactly intended to be a resource, but it makes a lot of sense to describe it this way and we wanna be able to come back and reference this. So thank you granules for explaining this in a much more expansive way than what we are used to seeing when talking about memory in systems. Personally we share across the board Knowledge, mostly, but its varied depending on the memory, the member, and various other things wether we share the other letters between eachother. If the memory isnt traumatic, we have fuzzy recollection of what happened between switches that sharpens as the new fronter settles into front. but sometimes a member takes one letter fully with them and we never see it again, even if it isnt traumatic or stressful. Could have something to do with our chronic pain though, as we dont notice the pain until we are doing something, or we have a bad pain day, even though if we were to actually pay attention itd be always there. so maybe theres a traumatic aspect to that that causes a aspect of a memory to get stuck to one particular headmate. Idk. This is interesting to think about. Thanks.

Dissociative Amnesia with BASK

I would love to hear more about systems without amnesia. I’ve been thinking, lately that emotional amnesia is really similar to any other form except maybe full.

I mean that as in memories being stored by type of information; if it’s BASK style, alters can have barriers between any letter or combination of letters.

BASK

Behavior: what the fronter did/had the urge to do

Affect: what the fronter felt/expressed emotionally

Sensation: what the fronter felt/noticed physically

Knowledge: what the fronter was aware/informed of

I would define ‘full blackouts’ as sharing none of the letters, which is unusual for the systems we know/have read about. Even systems we currently describe as having blackouts tend to start with some leakage.

I’d say the most common leaks are Affective and Sensory; bursts of unexplainable emotion or feelings you can tell aren’t yours and unexplainable pain or flashes of perceptions respectively.

I’ve heard of people, particularly front-facing people, experiencing these without co-consciousness. They aren’t accompanied by ‘the facts’ of what happened, and can leave the receiving alters confused or frightened.

A full sharing of either information might be considered another flashback unless intentional, but only a Sensory barrier is labeled amnesia as it stands.

The other leaks we currently refer to as blackouts is Behavior; either as ‘passive influence’ or as co-fronting and co-consciousness.

Some systems have to work on barriers to get Behavioral transmission, which might be as simple as acknowledging the alters as behind them. Others have it as part of the standard function, or see fluctuations without any particular reason.

‘Grayouts’ are barriers that allow Knowledge through; instead of any experience, alters get descriptions of events. It can be compared to being told about memories, like a book or news report.

Systems tend to encourage the permanent sharing of Sensation and Knowledge when decreasing amnesia, Behavior when attempting co-consciousness, and Affect only when fusing.

A fully assembled memory is taken into long term storage, where they usually go when there is no trauma. I don’t know if endogenic or healed traumagenic systems have that complete lack of barriers or if they learn to dissociate non-traumatic memories for individuality.

So I guess I’d like to hear from systems with no barriers, systems with Affective/emotional barriers, and systems that dissociate memories for non-trauma reasons. The whole system or between some members would also work.

What is it like to experience? How do you perceive the sharing, either in internal worlds or as a construct? What does it mean for system dynamics when the alters to share what they do?

You can answer without those guidelines, if you’d prefer. I’m more just curious about the existence of others unlike us than looking for specific datasets.

Aggressor Flag

A member who is agressive towards other people, in and/or out of the system, or generally attempts to start conflict. This is done in an attempt to protect the system and/or it's members from people they deem a threat

This term was already in use but needed a flag so djjss :0!!

Colors r just greyed out and dull + red is a lotta anger/aggressive vibes so but dulled red is like protection 2 us, so aggressive Protection. Aggressor.

Symptom Holder Flag

A system member who holds symptoms of the body’s neurodivergence, mental illness, etc. A symptom holder may hold certain/specific symptoms, multiple symptoms, or all symptoms.

Archivist

A system role defined by pluralpedia as ' a headmate who is especially knowledgeable about events that happen to the system, both in the headspace and in the shared reality. They may also store and organize this information by using constructs in the headspace such as folders and files'.

here are simplified descriptions of the terms

absorber:

a system member who “soaks up” either the optimism or pessimism of other system members; they can mirror that optimism or pessimism, but some absorbers may choose to "soak up" both

accuser:

a headmate that is similar to a persecutor but is focused almost solely on framing a member of the system (usually a host) as a terrible person guilty of crimes; this behavior isn't necessarily out of hatred, but may be out of internalized fear or guilt

antagoniser

a headmate whose morals don’t align with most or all other system members

beauheur

a beauheur is a headmate who stores happiness and shares it amongst other headmates; they may or may not create happiness as well

diplomat

a system member that acts as a representative of the system, whether that be through internal or external communication; they may try to make peace or come to agreements and truces with outside forces for the benefit of the system

Insecurity Holder is a system role for headmates who hold the feelings related to the systems insecurities, this could be considered a subset of a symptom holder role.

A headmate who’s role is Pendiflux is a headmate who’s role(s) fluctuates from Pending to having role(s), like host or protector, etc. They could be Pending then take on or be given a role, then later be Pending again and get the same role and or a completely different one again. This can sometimes even be so rapid it’s hard and or impossible to keep track of.

someone who fronts when the body is about to be sick, or forms from the body being sick, or experiencing illness-like symptoms. the person with this role might be a germaphobe, extremely paranoid about their health and similar.

the dark green and dark mint represents the color of what is often bacteria in media, and the light green represents nature and freedom.

the dark, almost black stripes represent the paranoia and stress this role may bring to a person, while the lighter green in the middle represents the safety this job will bring.

finally, the minty offwhite in the middle represents the peace and tranquility that the system will recieve if nursed to full health or in a good condition.

Accodare is a headmate role for when a headmate’s role changes based off of whoever the headmate is talking to or changes to whatever the collective needs most at one point in time.

Pending

A headmate who’s role is Pending means their role(s) is yet to be decided/still “loading in” per-say. It could be forever pending in or only be pending for a few days or more until a headmate finally knows what role they want and or are/were supposed to have.

Ògregulator is a system role exclusively for age regressor / age slider and little headmates whose job is to help the system be more stable by simply being a kid this role helps the system relax, destress and regulate emotions better, this role is similar to that of a soother and emotional regulator.

the name of the term is òg which the word for young in Gaelic + regulator

a headmate who isn't easily triggered and may expose the body to perhaps triggering media or events, especially within the presence of other headmates. these headmates may not easily emotionally either, or simply don't find themselves bothered.

the greys represent the dull feeling they may experience, or represent a somewhat unbreakable wall, while the pop of blues and oranges in the middle may represent how most people feel triggered negatively, experiencing fear, anger and uncomfortability.

Some system roles we've coined & use!

Romanticist

A member that frequently handles romantic relationships, feelings and/or attractions, or is simply present for them. They may be a funnel for romantic feelings/attraction or are easily influenced by the romantic feelings of their headmates. This role can happen naturally, or be assigned.

Comedian

A member that brings comic relief during stressful situations. This may be in the headspace, or while controlling the body. Some examples include making jokes to upset headmates or taking control of the body to do something fun as a coping mechanism.

Vicarian

A member that acts on the desires of their headmates, or seeks out positive, satisfying or rewarding things because their headmates are unable to. The headmates may have something stopping them or holding them back, such as trauma or anxiety, but the vicarian may not be affected by these barriers or is not affected as much. As a result, the headmates experience the acted-upon desires vicariously.
