Dear Tumblr Diary…

My kid comes in the living room and says the back bedroom smells like wildfire smoke. The window in my aunt’s room is open. I close it. I make sure all the windows are shut then go outside to check my son’s room (who’s asleep) and I smell the smoke again outside, so I go back in and turn on the a/c unit to clear out the smell from the house.

My aunt, who has dementia (for those who don’t know), then goes to complain to my mom, who also has dementia, that the smell isn’t coming from outside and says, “It’s coming from the a/c unit.”

I then attempted to explain the situation from start to finish, and she began waving her arms yelling, “YOU KNOW EVERYTHING! IT’S NOT SMOKE! IT DIDN’T START TO SMELL LIKE SMOKE UNTIL YOU TURNED IT ON! AAAAAH!” Literally, screamed “AAAAH,” at the top of her lungs while she stormed off into the bathroom. Then she had to come back out to yell at me, again, shouting, “I WASN’T EVEN TALKING TO YOU! I WAS TALKING TO YOUR MOTHER! MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS!”

Ugggggh. Help. Help, help, help, help, help. I’m trying soooo so hard to not lose my shit. She wants to open all the windows and turn off the air conditioner. That would put me in danger, because I can’t breathe that in. My severe hay fever makes my throat close up with wildfire smoke. I took allergy meds, because I know that the second I’m not looking, she’s going to go open her bedroom window again. 🙄

This was the conversation I walked into in the kitchen. Keep in mind, this is two elderly people with dementia and my autistic, schizophrenic cousin…

Elder 1: The weather’s not too bad today.

Cousin: I *like* the snow! (sounds offended — keep in mind, it’s 85 F outside)

Elder 2: Have you ever read a book with recipes?

Elder 1: Oh, and cats!? I hate that.

Cousin: I like spaghetti.

Elder 2: This has potatoes. Never mind.

Elder 1: It comes from Britain, doesn’t it?

Cousin: Salads? I think they come from Greece?

Elder 1: I think there’s enough.

Elder 2: Salad?

Elder 1: I forgot the box, though.

Cousin: True.

Elder 2: We could go to the library.

Elder 1: Was it supposed to have oregano?

Cousin: I’d use avocado.

Elder 2: Not for spaghetti!

Cousin: The book store might have oregano. Do they sell herbs?

Elder 2: It’s Sunday, so no.

… 😳😳😳 Good Lord. I feel like the more I’m around them, the less I can function.

Rewatching The Walking Dead, cuz it’s better to daydream about zombies and random colonies of crazy killers being the only threat in this country. Not an entire government full of cult worshipping, ICE Nazi lunatics that are too afraid to wipe their own asses without Chump’s approval, so they just wipe all other people from existence, instead.

Okay, so anyway… had my birthday. It was interesting. I got a t-shirt that I bought for myself, which I love! It has wolves on it with the aurora borealis in the background. Then my car died. I got a loaner, bought a used car, and the day I brought it home, it died. So now I have the loaner again while the new/used car’s in the shop. That was pretty much the extent of my birthday. Hopefully, they’ll get it all fixed up and it’ll work fine afterwards. I have a warranty that’s covering the fix, thank the Gods and Goddesses! Umm… so yeah! I’m 39 again! 😂🙌🥳 And I’ll probably stay 39 until I’m in my 60’s. Cuz I’m just cuckoo like that. 🤓
