And for the last day of my favorite event of the year, I reserved a fanart that I’ve been saving for a while. It’s not so much about the couple itself, but about discovering people who respect and like Nesta so much and honor through writing a character as incredible as her, and needing to thank, in some way, these authors of the fandom, among so many others, who dedicate their time, knowledge, talent (all of this for free), and constantly allow me to rediscover and fall in love with Nesta in different worlds, at different moments, from new perspectives, countless times. You are the best.

SAPPHIC!NESSIAN (IN ALL CAPS). This fanfic is so unintentionally made for me that I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve read and reread it, and I should even feel ashamed (or not), but I don’t. This bisexual who prefers sapphic relationships felt her little world blessed the day Morgan decided to publish My Fire Was Fate With You.

Possibly the number 1 recommendation from anyone who has read it, A Favor really is everything everyone says it is. How the author (re)imagines the characters and their relationships is fantastic and brilliant.

Semper Eadem by @whyisaravenlike-awritingdesk

I’m fascinated by listening to and reading people talking about subjects they like and are experts in, and Semper Eadem, besides leaving me kicking my feet from beginning to end, exposes delicious aspects of the Elizabethan period, which left this South American eager to read not only each chapter, but also the historical notes.

Of Death and Resurrection by @kale-theteaqueen

See, almost everyone talks about and recommends (deservedly) To Pay a Debt, but I first came across Kale’s writing through Of Death and Resurrection, and I can’t think of this fanfic without getting emotional. It was something I didn’t know I NEEDED until I read it. Not exaggeratedly, how many times have I heard “Nesta”, “Cassian” or “Rhysand”, among others, and immediately thought of this fanfic instead of canon.

Although I only chose four, I love everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, that these authors have written, and continue to write, because you can see in every sentence the respect they have for Nesta.

For that, my sincerest thank you!

That was time slowing again. Bryce could see every spark of silver flame coiling about the blade, see it reflected in Nesta’s eyes.

The sword descended into Vesperus’s head one last time. Inch by inch, shattering bone and spraying gore—

Time snapped back into movement, but Vesperus did not.

Vesperus, the only Asteri left on this world, lay dead.

For this day, @melphss and I are excited to share this stunning art of Nesta as a badass warrior. One of our favorite parts of HOFAS was seeing the characters thourght Bryce eyes, and it was amazing to see how far Nesta has grown since the beggining of the series. I think its fair to assume nowadays Nesta is not someone who would be easily at someone’s mercy.

If last year I commissioned Nesta celebrating her birthday with her chosen sisters, for today I asked the lovely Jéssica to create an art of Nesta being surprised by her sisters and nephew, because I hope their family ties will be strengthened and that they can have a more... light-hearted relationship. They have already proven many times, in extreme and stressful moments, how much they love each other. They also deserve to be able to do this at the simplicity of their daily lives.

If there's one thing I'm passionate about, it's the (correct) Zodiacs of the characters of ACOTAR, so in honor of Birthday Girl Day for @nestaarcheronweek, I thought I'd do a little mini breakdown on our favorite Lady Death

Nesta

Taurus Sun ~ Pisces Moon

The symbol of Taurus is the bull for a reason. Like the other earth signs in the zodiac, Tauruses are grounded, if not stubborn. We see this trait from Nesta early on, with her steadfast determination to make Papa Archeron step up and be an actual father when the Archerons are in the cabin. And through the rest of the series, I'm sure everyone can agree that stubborn is an adjective other characters and fans alike would use to describe Nesta.

But this is what also leads Tauruses to being fiercely loyal, especially to those they care about, and if there's one thing Nesta is, it's deeply and fiercely loyal about those in her "circle." We see that when she braves the snow and the woods to get through the Wall and get Feyre back in ACOTAR, when she's all teeth and claws in Elain's defense post-Cauldron in ACOWAR, and we certainly see that loyalty in ACOSF with Emerie and Gwyn, and even Cassian.

But on the flip side of that coin, Tauruses do not like change, and that stubborn determination can lead to them being very resistant to said change, even when it's necessary. Even when it's to help them. Can you say ACOFAS and the beginning of ACOSF, anyone? And I'm sure that anyone who knows a Taurus has been on the receiving end of the way they often shutdown and give the silent treatment when they're overwhelmed, much like the way Nesta pushed everyone away after the events of ACOWAR.

Tauruses are known for that resting bitch face first impressions, but when they're comfortable and they open up, there's a softness there. They practically become a different person. And we certainly see this with Nesta. We see it in the way the Inner Circle views Nesta, in the cold aloofness she presents to them when they first meet. We see it in the way she is with Emerie and Gwyn once they've all grown comfortable and opened up with one another. We see it in how she is with Cassian within the safety of the walls up at the House.

Speaking of the House, Tauruses are also one of the homebodies of the Zodiac. They crave their comforts and love their little sweet treats and indulgences. I think we all know that Nesta is most comfortable at home, that she feels most at peace with a soft blanket and a good book up at the House, that she loves a good chocolate sweet treat.

But when it comes to her Moon sign, Nesta is all water. Pisces is the last sign of the Zodiac, and it's said that they carry all that comes before them. If there's one thing ACOSF and being in Nesta's head taught us, it's that Nesta carries so much. Just as Feyre said, she "feels everything— sees too much; sees and feels it all."

Pisces are also the dreamer of the Zodiac, with active imaginations and a soft sensualness. And while, Nesta may hide that side of her, and while I'm sure Mama Archeron and Grandma Archeron were quick to beat that out of her, we still see it come through. At her core, Nesta is a romantic and she dreams of that life and the stories of her favorite books for herself.

This scene depicts my OC, Mira, watching her mother get ready for a date night with Cassian.

I think an important part of Nesta's journey as a mother is choosing to raise her daughter in a kinder way than her own mother did. And that allows moments like this - where Mira sees her mother as beautiful, and Nesta knows for certain that her daughter is happy and loved.

@vivictory-draws did an amazing job and I'm so happy with how this turned out!

Ember really looked like she might cry now, especially as she turned back to Nesta and said, “This time with you was a gift, Nesta. It truly was.”

With that, she pulled Nesta to her in a tight embrace, and Bryce could have sworn something like pain and longing crossed Nesta’s expression. Like she hadn’t experienced a mom-hug for a long, long time.

For today, @melphss and I commissioned, with our dear friend Lib, an illustration very close to our hearts, of Ember, the wonderful person that she is, ensuring that Nesta knew the gift that simply being with her was and giving her in return a mother’s affection in a hug, something that Nesta clearly missed.

For today, @melphss and I commissioned an art of the Valkyries considering that one of the most positive aspects of Acosf is the construction of Nesta’s relationship with Emerie and Gwyneth, her chosen family. Many can obviously argue about what was or wasn’t necessary for Nesta’s improvement in relation to her own traumas and depression, but the unplanned factor of the Illyrian and the priestess’ friendship was certainly the most positive for Nesta. Her wishing that the three of them always find their way back to each other makes us think about how their friendship is one of the true norths for each of them. And may it continue that way.

“We need to help her,” Bryce panted to Azriel.

“I promise you, she’s fine,” Azriel countered, urging them further into the tunnel. Out of the impact zone, Bryce realized.

The Wyrm must have sensed the sword’s approach, because it bucked against the bones and claws pinning it to the rock.

It managed to nudge the undead creature back, but only for a heartbeat.

Nesta raised her free hand again, and the undead creature slammed the Wyrm back into the ground. The Wyrm thrashed, desperate now.

With a dancer’s grace, Nesta scaled the undead beast’s tail, running along the knobs of its spine like rocks in a stream. Getting to higher ground, to a better angle.

The Wyrm shrieked, but Nesta had reached the undead beast’s white skull. And then she was jumping, sword arcing above her, then down, down—

Straight into the head of the Wyrm.

A shudder of silver fire rushed down the Wyrm. That cold, dry wind shivered through the caves again, death in its wake.

The Wyrm slumped to the ground.

The silence was worse than the sound.

“I love you, Feyre.”

[Nesta] had never said the words aloud. To anyone.

“I love you, too,” Feyre whispered to her sister, and smiled.

Family relationships often leave us in doubt about the validity of the feelings that others have for us, whether they exist genuinely or simply because of the obligation and strength of blood ties.

Specifically in Nesta and Feyre’s case, their relationship was troubled for many reasons, from the absence of parents to poverty, and the doubt about the reciprocity of love always hovered over them. That is why Nesta’s first “I love you” being for Feyre and her receiving one in return, in a reciprocal way, is possibly one of the most moving moments in Acosf.

But, as much as a declaration in an extreme situation was welcome in the case of both, imagining them later sharing their tastes and everything that makes them who they are, thus strengthening an existing bond, enchants us.
