It’s Was Juri Han’s B-Day Yesterday (1/1), Have Some Pointless Trivia about her.
Tumblr media
Contrary to what Capcom says, Juri is not the first Korean fighter and Taekwondo practitioner in Street Fighter. That actually goes to Shin from Street Fighter Online: Mouse Generation in 2008. Capcom probably doesn’t acknowledge this fact due to poor reception of the game.
Tumblr media
For a very brief time after her initial reveal, the Super Street Fighter IV Japanese website listed one Juri’s likes as “large breasts”. This was quickly edited out and you can no longer find it.
It should also be noted that Juri shares her fictional birthday with Fatal Fury’s Mai Shiranui. Whether or not that is another one of the Capcom’s multiple jokes in SF4 at SNK’s is unclear but….
Its also worth noting that Juri’s evil-aligned design is stark contrast the majority of SNK’s taekwondo fighters who are usually good.
Juri’s design continues Capcom’s design fetish tradition of Street Fighter characters being inspired by Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. In Juri’s case, its Part 6′s protagonist Jolyne Kujo.
Another tiny detail about this connection can be seen in Juri’s first character art for Super Street Fighter IV. Juri can be seen cutting a butterfly with her kick and butterflies are associated with Joyline.
Ironically, in the recent Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure game, All Star Battle, Jolyne Kujo was voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro, who voices Cammy in the SF4 series, and who Juri despises. Its also worth noting that Juri’s voice actress, Eri Kitamura, is also in the game but as a NPC, Yasuho Hirose.
Juri’s alternate costume, the nurse outfit, in Street Fighter X Tekken bares a similarity to The Rumble Fish’s Garnet. The Rumble Fish was developed by Dimps, the co-producers of the Street Fighter 4 series including Street Fighter X Tekken. Both characters also are character who use kicks in there moves.

Final Fight probably wasn’t the only Capcom game that took inspiration from the movie “Hard Times”. See also: Interview with Akiman http://game.capcom.com/cfn/sfv/column-112429.html

Beta Images/Concept Art For Street Fighter 4 From Dimps 1, Taken from GameWatch
Probably one of the most important details frequently overlooked about the SF4 series is the fact that it wasn’t completely developed internally by Capcom. Much of the bulk of the development was done in conjunction with Dimps, a Japanese developer made up from former employees of Capcom and SNK, headed by Takashi Nishiyama and Hiroshi Matsumoto, creators of Street Fighter 1/Fighting Street and Fatal Fury/Garou Densetsu. These images, taken from Japanese gaming site GameWatch which were released by Dimps after they won the CEDEC AWARD in 2011, are a collection of prototype images and 3D renders of the process building up the SF 4 we know today. Street Fighter 4 went through a lot of visual changes, much of which resemble the visual look of Street Fighter III series. That’s due to the lead artist on Street Fighter III series, Daigo Ikeno, being the lead on SF 4 as well. You can really see much of his SF III influence in the character portraits which are similar to SF III’s character and portrait art. Much of the beta images for the game include features that wouldn’t make it to the final build including, a meter system with multiple levels. The final image in this set is the closest to what would eventually be in actual game including things like a single, multi-sectioned meter system, a meter on the side which would become the rage meter for Ultra combos, and the semi-cel shaded art style.
More images coming soon, or you can view the rest on the original website here.
