I just won a Soul Calibur II bracket! Played as Kilik like I do in every Soul Calibur. Got sent to loser's bracket by a Voldo that just completely fucked me up, we met again in loser's finals and I was able to beat them that time and move into grands.

Grand finals the other player started with Taki, then switched to Lizardman. This got the people watching us excited because Lizardman immediately won them over, some guy kept going 'Lizardman, exquisite' at each game start. He also said 'man with a pole, exquisite' but I concede that lizardman is more exquisite since his presence got the game declared peak.

Another highlight was when I tried to ring out Lizardman with my sliding kick attack, and technically I did succeed, but I also slid out of the stage myself so the game counted it as my loss. There were other funny ring out moments, like my panicked reactions when I got hit with a grab that I knew was going to put me right out of the ring.

I was able to win the three games required to reset the bracket, meaning I was halfway to victory and overcame the drawback of coming in from the loser's side. And I kept winning.

Then the other player decided to go Yun-Seong, and I have never been more scared of Yun-Seong. He took that game pretty firmly, I was worried he was going to turn the whole set around. But in the next game I was able to adapt and took the tournament point.

This was just a side bracket at a local with twelve entrants, but truthfully I care more about being the best in my small pond than the whole wide world. And it was a really fun set. Hoping we keep this going.

I'm not even that well versed with Soul Calibur II specifically, have only played it at events, but my dedication to Kilik across the entire series paid off.
