Shakespeare's Code is such a mess of a story... and I wanted to like it so much but it's just nonsense. Like none of it makes any sense, the characters all act without rhyme or reason, they acquire information from nowhere and then forget about it 5 seconds later, they have barely any dimension to them and perhaps worst of all... the BIGGEST SIN OF ALL... the French hood is a headband... sure.

I am kind of generaly of the belief that the quality of a story set in Tudor times can be quickly assessed by whether or not the French hood is a headband or, you know, a HOOD. If it's a headband, the story will be shit (e.g. the Spanish Princess, ok girl whatever).

Also the main character has the worst fucking trait of all, amnesia. She's also called Roxanne, Amabelle and Juliet. Sure. She's a poet but also no she isn't. OK. And also was locked up in a hospital but no one remembers that either. Mhm. And she was sent there to "cure" her witchcraft before coming back... and being discovered as a witch immediately... even though I guess the hospital staff probs wasn't really letting her run around as an undocumented witch, so to say. But I guess they failed to mention it to the authorities. Like I guess this early renaissance hospital for witches operates like a hush hush conversion camp and they don't snitch on you if you promise not to do it again idk. And then she comes back and is almost burned at the stake but isn't and no one bothered to check if the bitch was dead they just shrugged and moved on. I don't fucking know, I can't make any sense of this, like this story makes me feel like I'm going crazy.

To be honest with how ridiculous the jumps in the plotline are, you'd think it would at least be more interesting and entertaining but it's not :(

And I think it's too late to spin this ship around.

I think it's kinda crazy that all love interests in the thunderstorms saga are elves. Like it seems like such an obvious choice to have a human or dwarf love interest for Tiss, a character who has these deeply ingrained prejudices against other races.

I mean, I'm curious whether this is going to be addressed in any way before the end of the story because we're already half way through and it really hasn't been. But it would have been such an interesting source of tension because even if Tiss were to fall in love with a human or a dwarf, they would never be welcome in Esshai, she could never bring the person she loves home. Which is tragic but also just the process of falling in love with someone who isn't an elf like that would have been so interesting to see for her.

But humans and dwarves really are just background characters for this story, which is kinda funny considering this whole conflict is about them. Esshai might as well join the empire, there's only like 5 humans and 2 dwarves there anyways. You don't have to see them if you don't want to lol

It's SO funny to me that Devil's Whisper Lane can control the abominations and the infected with her mind but God's Voice Lane is literally Xena the Warrior Princess lol
