There is one single issue I have with Hedin's plan in season 5.
How did he intend on getting Bell to snap out of his funk? SURELY he couldn't have been waiting for Bell to find Ais, not when he had no guarantee Ais would even recognize him? Was his entire plan just giving Bell access to Mia and PRAYING the woman slipped something to snap him out of it?
It just seems so flimsy and fragile of a plan, at least in that point.
Hedin doesn't seem like the kind of guy to rely on pure luck for getting something done successfully.

Something I never really see come up again in the series that really deserves to be brought up again one day...
Bell has the Elves Holy Writs memorized
#don't you dare tell me he doesn't memorize them its HEDIN#man probably pop quizzed him on the minutae#every other hour

also I take great enjoyment out of Bell, in the latest episode, STILL calling Hedin 'Master'
makes me feel justified in having Stainedsoul Bell revert to calling him Master as well :)

I need more images of Hogni in a Fine Suit because I bet he'd SLAY if he really wanted to
Let Hedin give him the Full Treatment like he did with Bell
Also - I know he probably took Bell to a hairdresser but consider this instead - Hedin did Bell's hair himself

I will say, the one part of S4 I feel the anime does better than the LN is the part where Bell, sans one arm, falls into the underground river and is saved by Marie
It feels much more serious and dramatic in tone than in the LN, where iirc, it's just kind of rushed past and I remember him seeming totally fine really fast, to a point that it genuinely disappointed me.

ooh, yeah... Bell when he first finds out he's on the deep floors is VIOLENTLY jumpy
he hears a water droplet that makes him near jump out of his skin
the poor boy :(

Todays observation?
In the Juggernaut Arc Bell's Mind Down seems to be not JUST a mind down, but also some variant of panic attack as well, judging by how the LN indicates he's hyperventilating the entire time
In the anime, it's one, and then the other, but the idea that he suffered not just a mind down, but a panic attack, all at once, feels much more REAL to me considering that Bell is only 14
Adventurer or not, he's still a child, and faced that closely with dead, it makes sense that he'd start to break down pretty rapidly.
I'll probably be writing it that way any time I write Bell myself, if only because it feels more visceral and real than just 'oops mind down from all the Firebolts'

I love thinking about my StainedSoul Bell au
Freya pissed off cause he's not 'special' anymore after he breaks away from her, as though it's not explicitly her fault that Bell's a bundle of uncontrolled anxiety, agoraphobic tendencies, and horrendous trust issues, now
Meanwhile, Hestia Familia frothing at the mouth because Freya completely ruined a wonderful young man who doesn't wanna leave the HOUSE anymore much less be the one to suggest dungeon dives
he WAS the captain, now he's just 'that powerful familia member we have who we have to pretty much FORCE to leave the building because he literally won't otherwise'.

further Bell au idea?
Bell doesn't get his arm back after Juggernaut slices it off and has to just. y'know. Deal with the consequences like a NORMAL human being.
AND
Feral Bell OR Bell who is, under whatever circumstances I can come up with, raised by Xenos. How does he get into the dungeon unaccounted for? I do not know. But I enjoy the idea of a semi-feral Bell who vibes more with monsterfolk than humans

y'know
I've actually seen people say that Bell, before Liaris Freeze, wasn't actually as terrible an adventurer as people would make him out to be. That he's only been an adventurer for two weeks, and his stats other than defense are all closing in on 100, with speed at like, 150/200
saying that really, those are good stats for somebody who hasn't been in Orario very long, and that Bell's actual issue is that he can't get enough money to buy better gear, what with him being the ONLY PERSON in Hestia Familia - that what little money he DOES get is so stretched thin that he can't afford anything better than the most basic of gear, rendering him unable to do much more than fight equally basic monsters
And this idea that even if he hadn't gotten LF, he's really kind of a prodigy regardless and would have made a fantastic adventurer anyway
#I never actually considered it before tbh#his only weak point is defense#but in two weeks he's almost 100 in everything else#if he was genuinely terrible at it#then I don't think ANY of his stats would be any good#past speed from all the running he does#he's a glass cannon speed build#that doesn't have the money#to afford the 'cannon' part of his build#so of COURSE he's not gonna get anywhere like that!

also; one day I need to start writing my mainverse bell again, over on my rp blog
just gotta figure out what to DO with him...
every conversation he has with people is invariably 'oh he doesn't remember us :('
I wanna do more with Bell Who Thinks He's Freya!
#Hestia Gang quietly wiggling their way into his life though#he's still Bell after all#logically he'd still act the same way#if they hung out with him#get him to hang out at Hearthstone#all kinds of fun things :)
