[A video opens with Alexander on a riverbank, Sage a couple of meters away. He's lying flat on his back, right arm submerged up to the shoulder. Both are perfectly still, not even seeming to breathe. If it wasn't for the water moving, this could pass for a photo. Two voices begin speaking in hushed Hoenni, the first somewhat hesitant, and the second calmer, in a resigned way.

"And this works? You don't actually need all of the equipment? You just… stick your hand in and pull it out?!"

"Technically. Even the barest modicum of equipment would make it safer, but people do do it this way. It just comes with a much higher fatality rate."

"Then why are we–"

"Most of the danger comes from panicking under pressure, or being physically incapable. Would you use either of those terms for him? And more importantly, how exactly would you stop him?"

"Fair. But sti–"

Alexander suddenly throws himself to the left, ripping his arm out of the water and swinging it over his body. Along with it comes a solid 32kg Whiscash, jaws slackening when it gets slammed to the ground. Sage takes advantage of its momentary confusion to knock it out with a Leaf Blade.

"Holy shit!"

"That was… more impressive than I expected."]

4: ohhhh, i for sure wanna visit kanto one of these days!! mostly so i can bug xander, heehee. i think he's the only one'a my friends on here i haven't visited, so like, i gotta right??? besides, i'm sure there's a hell of a lot about kanto i don't know about yet, and i wanna see if mr. surge remembers me at all, heehee!

10: i found out about him a long time back, but mr. steven stone!! he's got one of the coolest metagross in the world, and while i think i've made my peace with bein' unable to raise one myself, i admire the fuck outta 'em from a distance!

11: hmm, i like mr. byron from canalave in sinnoh! every time i hear about him, he's always so passionate about his work! but i should pick a paldea gym leader too...i guess i've always had a lotta respect for mr. grusha. my younger self recognized him as the strongest trainer in this region, and i don't think it's a lie, even if lulu, miss sprigs, and i worked hard together to defeat him. but he's pretty cool!

31: ...listen, as long as y'all don't take this as a challenge...even if i am a lil nervous, i'd still love to raise a beldum. those lil guys are precious as fuck, and i just like 'em, okay? but if i gotta pick somethin' new, i deffo wanna raise a magnemite someday. i've read up so much about 'em and i've made some friends down in chargestone cavern, and i just love the lil guys!!!

I log into Rotomblr for the day, and my first thought is, "Why are there random strangers bashing one of my Pokémon?" The second is, "Oh, at least some people are defending her."

You cannot prove how long it took me to realize this was about another person entirely.

If you search "Sinnohan (Pokémon* with fur/feathers)" you’ll always find the fluffiest version.

*Native to the region, of course.

Thank you, Ren. Now I just hope there isn't as much of a gap between my Master's and PhD as there was from the Bachelor's.

I can absolutely believe that. Anyone could study something, and learn to regurgitate what information is available, but to become an authority on it? That takes passion, which I am well aware that you possess in spades. Hopefully things have been going well at the academy though; are classes offered in Paldean, or have you been learning a new language?

My condolences. I can sympathize to some degree; hopefully you need never interact with her again.

Good luck, Ren. My father was a gym trainer under him for a time in the late 80s, after failing to get that badge, and I don't think he's slacked off in his training since.

alright, it's my last day here before i gotta get on a flight to kitakami again!!! i've said it a thousand times over, but thank you again to @volnixian for letting me stay here <3 and showing me all sorts of places!! and cool stuff!!! i'm gonna make a scrap book with all the pictures i've taken, mark my words heehee

Part of my disagreement with modern typing nomenclature is that many, if not most, Pokemon, express traits from other typings other than what are commonly-accepted as their 'type'. Every Pokemon really has some level of traits or 'aptitude' for each type, rather than being flattened down to one or two types.

To use my very own Beans as an example, did you know that Zorua express a trait commonly associated as an Electric-type trait?

They have a special receptor in their brain allowing them to perceive, to some extent, the planet's magnetic field. If you've ever seen a wild Zorua attempting to hunt small burrowing creatures, you may have noticed they tend to line themselves up at specific angles. They're actually lining themselves up with the planet's magnetic field, aligning themselves to magnetic north/south, in order to pounce. Studies have been done and proven that their pounce accuracy to kill is, as long as they pounce at a twenty-degree angle north-east from magnetic north, around 73%. Meanwhile, if they pounce in any other direction, their accuracy drops to under 20%.

Magnetism is always considered an Electric-type's domain, but despite the fact that Zorua, and many other vulpine Pokemon, use this method of hunting, they are not considered Electric-types due to not expressing any use of electric moves.

Also, if you see a vulpine Pokemon such as Zorua angrily attacking a Pokemon like Magnezone- Strong conflicting magnetic fields can cause vertigo and even nausea in Pokemon with those magnetoreceptive abilities. Here in Unova, Chargestone Cave is also a location which has a strong enough magnetic field of its own to induce distress in Pokemon with those abilities.
