Pokémon Art of the Week: Mythical Pokémon!
Honestly, I just felt like drawing some of my favourite mythical Pokémon. I wanted to show off some of my own headcanons for them, such as Shaymin with a long hedgehog snout and Mew as a sphinx cat.

Pokémon OCs who apply for the odd job around town when their trainer has fallen on hard times. A Flareon and Alcremie who lend their skills at the local bakery. A Mudkip and a Bayleef who offer to tend to the town's gardens and the decorative flower pots on main street. A Machamp who uses all four arms to stocks shelves at the supermarket, and doesn't take any nonsense from the rude customers she comes across.

Your Pokémon OC gets stolen from their trainer! Who's the criminal who did it: are they from one of the villainous teams, or are they a solo crook? How does their trainer go about getting them back, and what does their Pokémon do to escape or fight back in the meantime?

Pokémon Art of the Week: Sneasel Variants!
Most of my favourite Pokémon as of late tend to be not fully evolved ones, like Dusclops, Togetic, Bayleef, and yes, Sneasel. And I knew that Sneasel had a very wonky colour palette in the original Gold and Silver games, before it was revised in Crystal into what we know today. And honestly I just felt like drawing them all together.
I headcanon that these brown and teal Sneasel are a rare genetic mutation, somewhat like albinism, exclusive to Johto. They surfaced briefly a few decades ago before quickly vanishing due to their strange colouration preventing them from blending in with their surroundings, but efforts have been made by trainers and Pokémon breeders to preserve them. Seemingly none exist in the wild anymore, and mere hundreds have been recorded in captivity.

Speaking of Pokémon being demonized based off their type... I am t i r e d of swarms of Beedrill always being angry and threatening in the anime. Same deal with characters being afraid of Bug-types as a personality trait. That is OUT. Trainer OCs who are super enthusiastic about Bug types, feed sugar water to that Beedrill hive in their backyard, gently pick up and hold Caterpie and Wurmple whenever they find them outside, and cry of happiness when little Yanma land on them during the summer..... they are VALID and they are IN

I'm tired of Dark-type Pokémon typically being reserved for villain and criminal trainers, like the grunts for nearly all of the villainous teams, delinquents, thugs, and gang members. I feel like Piers was really a step in the right direction for Dark-type specialists, with that sorely needed punk-with-a-heart-of-gold aesthetic. I especially love how the fandom has pretty much collectively decided that he's a disaster artist, who stays up until 6am on the regular writing songs. It's a big mood for me, first of all, and it also kinda softens that edge he has as an imposing, serious gym leader.
That being said, I really do wanna see a Dark or Ghost specialist who acknowledges the stigma around their types being considered "evil" and makes an effort to portray them in a more positive light. Disproving rumours that bring harm to these Pokémon, like how Absol was heralded as a disaster Pokémon by previous generations and hunted to endangerment over a misunderstanding.
I have a Pokémon AU for some OCs from my original story, see. Two of them are twin gym leaders, kinda like Bea and Allister, but they run the same gym and fill in for one another on occasion, usually depending on which one is a better match for their challenger (or when one of them sleeps in, which happens more than they'd like to admit). They specialize in Ghost and Dark types, and they run a shelter for all sorts of Dark and Ghost Pokémon that were abused or disowned due to superstitious trainers. They also run a show kind of like Jackass in their off-time, where they disprove rumours about these Pokémon being evil or stealing souls or whatever; for example, Aeris once laid her hand flat on a Cursola's ghastly membrane to prove that it wouldn't actually turn people into stone. She couldn't move her arm for an hour after, but it did wear off! And that's what counts.

Make a new rival for your OC! Would their rivalry be a friendly competition, or would there be a lot of aggression between them? Are they childhood friends, or did they meet during their adventure? Is it possibly a friendship turned sour? Maybe they just crossed paths once and had a battle, but one of them couldn't take a loss.
If your OC already has a rival, why not give them another one? What would the relationship between rivals be like? Do they hate each other, each one seeing the other as competition towards beating OC? Or is it more of a "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" dynamic?

What's your interpretation of glitch Pokémon? Do you see them as shapeshifters, mysterious and unsettling creatures who try to take the forms of other Pokémon, but still look wrong in creepy and subtle ways? Are they lost spirits who try to lure naive young trainers away, to bring them into their broken world? Are they eldritch deities that can only bleed into reality one piece at a time?
Write about an interaction between your OCs and a glitch Pokémon, or maybe make a new OC based off one.

Pokémon Art of the Week: Sinnohian Umbreon!
So I follow a user on Twitter named Dr. Lava (https://twitter.com/DrLavaYT?s=09), who posts all about lost Pokémon and beta stuff that got removed from the final games... and just last December he made a post showing off a huge sprite sheet for beta Diamond and Pearl, full of beta gender variants that didn't show up in the final! A lot of them seemed kinda lame or unnecessary, but the really cool ones that stuck out to me were beta Eevee and its evolutions; in this sprite sheet, the females all had smaller or even rounder, bobbed ears.
Umbreon in particular looked absolutely precious, so of course I had to draw them. Because of this, I now headcanon that Sinnoh has regional variants of the Eeveelutions, with girls who have bobbed ears. Umbreon also have lighter, bluer coats there because I really like the unique colouration on these beta sprites.
