So while progress on Terastallized is (significantly) slowed right now thanks mostly to a mix of burnout (thanks, brain) and an atrophied will to do much of anything (thanks, america) I thought I might provide a delightful autocorrect oddity straight from the bullshit dimension:

Haha wow! Me when I post that my hiatus is over and then I go silent for like, multiple weeks? Uh, yeah, sorry about that one. I've been pretty busy recently and the whole... the fuckening surrounding the political situation in the United States has not been exactly what I would call great. My mental state hasn't been either -- it hasn't been terrible, but it's been a bit hard to get myself to sit down and write, lately.

So I just want to make this post to let anyone following my work know that, no, I'm not, and am never, abandoning Terastallized and the story of Helia. That girl pulled me out of a three-year-long writer's block, and she's extremely near and dear to my heart. I am still working on chapter seven, and while I cannot promise that I'll have something to show you soon, I really, really hope I do.

Thanks for sticking with me this long. I have a great deal of fanfic to catch up on as well, and I will, but for the moment I do want to prioritize getting a little bit of writing done every day. Going to ask my partners to remind me. Hopefully more Terastallized content will follow -- this next chapter should be pretty exciting.

Anyhow, I'll be going for the moment, but not for multiple weeks this time! I do try to keep the Tumblr active but sometimes I just sorta don't know what to say. We may be in luck, though, more writing means more google autocorrect nonsense, so you may see some of that haha

Little preview of chapter seven, just to prove that it is real and I am working on it! Also, a small bit of news in that I've decided to write my drafts in Ao3 first and copy them over to google drive when I'm done with a session, just so I don't have to hassle with HTML stuff - last chapter I had to spend an extra two hours fixing it because it pasted from docs *really* weirdly. Definitely not gonna make THAT mistake again, ha!

An Introduction!

Hello! It's been a few months here on Tumblr, now, and I figured I'd be sociable and make an intro to my blog here. I'm Auri (she/her/they/them), an autistic girl thing, writer, and person who is still rather new to Tumblr; very pleased to meet you! I usually go by Auri, Polarbearauri, Auroraredpanda, or some variation thereof.

I've been a writer of original fiction for most of my life, but for the last couple years I've been dealing with a pretty difficult writer's block. And now, it seems, I have Pokémon Scarlet and Violet to thank for busting me out of art jail - I'm not even really sure why. Something about them reached out and grabbed me by the heart and would not let go, not that I really tried all that hard to escape.

It's these silly, gay, wonderful little games that have led me to writing fanfiction, and the result of that is the topic of my yapping today. If you'll oblige me, I'd love to tell you a little about it. It's called Terastallized, and it's a retelling and reimagining of Scarlet and Violet (mostly Violet) which will likely end up being quite long. Its main character is Helia Brillante, an artist, trans girl, and a rewritten version of Juliana, forced to come out to her family (and her not exactly affirming father) before she was ready. Here's some art I commissioned of her by @ pkmn_realidea over on Tw*tter!

Terastallized focuses on Helia's character development, expanded bonds between the members of the main cast - plus a few others - and something strange lurking in Helia's dreams, as well as an altered plotline in general. Additionally, and while ultimately I want it to focus on its narrative and themes, Terastallized is also fundamentally a queer story, with plenty of queer headcanons and a very queer main protagonist. Right at the heart of that is Helia's growing feelings and eventual romance with Nemona, the girl who walked into her life and changed it forever, as much as her dreams ever will - so, while this isn't primarily a ship fic, the ship is certainly important.

I'm very excited to share this fic with the world, and the positive response that Ao3 - and Tumblr, too, of late - has sent its way has been very encouraging. I've also been reading a fair bit of fics outside my own writing, and it seems having a Tumblr is semi-common practice - I've kind of always wanted to be on Tumblr but never known how (and therein lies the anxiety, haha wooo). But here I am, figuring things out, posting about my work!

I am rambling a little, so I'll stop now - if you made it this far, thank you! I am, uh, a rather verbose and long-winded person; something to be aware of if you're planning on sticking around. A Silly Little Hint (about Chapter 7)

So I revisited my outline doc because I haven't checked in with it for a while and I've had some new ideas and woo! I re-did the outline for what is now chapter seven; trimmed it down a little, too, and tweaked the order of events.

So! The title reveal in question, and also, though I've spoilered most of the information, here, have a few silly little hints about seven's contents :)

Dunno when it'll be done, but with an outline in hand I'll probably start writing it soon. (Though I might revisit some future chapters and do a little outlining for them as well. Probably not right now though haha)

Hello again!

So, uh, hey there, long time no see. I, too, did not expect that, when I said I would be taking a 'hiatus' around the beginning of November that this 'hiatus' would extend into a month of almost radio silence. So... uhh... sorry about that, I guess?

So Terastallized! Right, that thing that I'm writing. It's going; I've not abandoned it - nor would I ever, unless something wild came up, and while this last month may have been pretty crazy, it wasn't quite that crazy. I'm also thinking I may return to writing it in the near future, as I played like, approximately one (1) hour of Scarlet last night and immediately went 'I'm thinking I'm back', and indeed, I do care to argue that I am so back.

So there might be an update, in the near future! I know the first in-game day has taken a WHILE, and I'm sorry to say there's probably about two chapters left of it. After that, though, things will begin to move a bit more quickly, and the second half of The Flowers of Fall will actually progress the narrative. I realize it's been the better part of 100,000 words and we've not moved beyond the first day, and, uh, yeah I'm sorry about that I'm not a very concise writer? It's kind of my thing. Also, there's just so much to get through with setting up characters and plot threads.

Moving on, I do have one new piece of content to share with you all, though this one wasn't made by me! I would like very much to present to you all some artwork I commissioned of the girl, the myth, the weird psychic music cryptid, Helia herself! It's by @ pkmn_realidea on Twitter who is really cool and makes super awesome stuff.

She's so cool and I love her. I hope you do too!

Hopefully, there'll be some new story to go with her in the near future. I'll see you then (or when google docs inevitably drives me up an Arceus-damned wall (again), whichever comes first).

ugh... so y'all i'm gonna be real, it's been a fucking week. And I'm not feeling too great, just in general. I'm not sure when I'll resume writing Terastallized, I want to get back to it soon but it's... it's a lot right now. so I guess it's on hiatus again for a little bit. sorry :(

I'll try to keep y'all posted, for anyone who's interested in the story. sorry again.

Currently wondering what the fuck past me was thinking with the original chapter 5. It was originally going to include the whole section in Mesagoza right? Y'know the one that's currently seven and a half thousand words in with another chapter to go??? What was I ON? Like combined with chapter 5 that'd be 25k words and counting, probably more than 30k by the end... HUH?

Just. No idea what I was thinking. Holy shit lmao turns out important scenes tend to be long especially when they're being written by a girl who enjoys half-purple prose. Indigo prose, if you will.
