"and  he  steals  kisses?  the  audacity--"  lips  are  split  into  a  wide  grin,  even  as  they  lean  into  the  kisses,  nipping  at  his  lips.

" You're welcome for the clarity . " Nodded along as he leans in to steal a kiss on lips from kisses to face .

"OH,  well--  in  that  case--"  they're  grinning  wide  and  crowding  even  more  into  his  personal  space,  throwing  a  leg  over  the  side  of  his  lap.  "glad  to  know  i'm  not  an  uggo."  kisses  are  pressed  into  his  face  again,  soft,  but  insistent.

" Definitely . " Agreed back as he leans more comfortably back into couch with arm swung around them . " Yeah , I mean I don't date uggos . " Casually stated as if he's had any real girlfriends before . Still it's his way of reassuring them further .

frankie  snorts  out  a  laugh  in  response  to  his  words.  just  the  most  simple  of  phrases,  a  'gotcha'.  they  shake  their  head  and  look  at  him,  studying  his  face.  before  they  reply,  they  lean  up  to  kiss  softly  at  the  corner  of  his  mouth,  and  then  the  side  of  his  jaw.

"i  like  to  think  i'm  better  off  here  too,"  they  agree,  smiling  against  his  skin.  "'n  i'm  glad  you  don't  think  i'm  ugly.  it'd  be  a  little  awkward  since  we're  dating,  and  all."

Gator settles in , preparing himself to hear the worst but as they go on it's not as bad as he'd expected it to be . At least not in comparison to what his mother and Nadine had been through . Which does confuse him , but maybe he shouldn't be comparing . What Frankie had been through was pretty bad as well , betrayal , and an asshole of a boyfriend from the sounds of it .

" Gotcha . " That's all he had to say ? He should probably say more but he doesn't really know where to start or the right thing to say . " Well , looks like you're better off here . " And so is he with them here . So he's almost glad it brought them here -- but he knows better than to say that .

" Seen plenty of heigh maintenance folk and you're definitely not one of them . So that guy doesn't know shit . And you're not fat or ugly . "

got on to the subject of libraries with mr d while having dinner. he looks up his college library to show me. finds out sled dogs delivered the first books when it opened. excuse me??

for those of you who have seen challengers….

thinking huge thoughts about how dorian is the antagonist of the media story that's put together. it simultaneously paints frankie as this underdog who has started with nothing but the funds needed to prepare themself for their destiny and dorian is the foreigner high-class self-righteous nepotism baby who has taken over his sister's legacy. the media forgets that dorian is only in the racing because it's the only way he can feel close to prue again. he only races and is a risky, nasty racer because it's the only way he's able to chase the high of being close to his favorite person in the world again.

that is not, of course, to discount frankie's story that the media portrays, and dorian even comments several times on how he views them and their story, going so far as to correct reporters on frankie's name and pronouns when he is asked about them. there is a strange respect that is evident in everything dorian does, and while he is annoyed that frankie is too stubborn to care that he doesn't want help, he cares about how frankie is portrayed because he is so adamant to stick to the narrative that the media has given him.

it is so easy to make dorian into something he's not because he lets them. he hopes to weaponize how he has been villainized by the media and use it as a defense mechanism: he waits for people to comment on him, because regardless of whether or not he is liked, he pushes out results. he wins, almost every time. when he doesn't win, frankie wins. people hate him, and still he wins. he doesn't care if he wins for himself; he cares because if he doesn't, prue doesn't. he has to maintain her legacy, because if he doesn't, no one will.

frankie, in my opinion, is the only one to ever see that dorian is chasing a ghost; that he refuses to beat her times, her records, et cetera, while maintaining the level of excellence that he believes prue had. frankie represents everything prue stood for, and it scares dorian, because if there's someone out there who best upholds her legacy, what is he other than the villain in their narrative?

so  it  was  time.

it  had  been  two  years  since  frankie  had  left  california  --  two  years  since  frankie  walked  into  their  apartment  and  overheard  everything  from  leon  and  kayleigh.  how  frankie  wasn't  even  pretty,  how  she  was  lucky  she  had  a  big  bank  account,  because  otherwise  leon  wouldn't  have  ever  bothered.  how  nice  it  was  to  be  able  to  live  in  her  apartment  rent  free  without  having  to  worry  about  a  thing.  how  she  could  fund  their  lifestyles.

"uh--  my  ex  boyfriend,  i  found  out  he  was  cheating  on  me  during  our  entire  relationship.  when  he  started  dating  me  he  was  already  dating  my  best  friend  i'd  known  since  i  was  four."  a  little  shrug,  and  they  look  down  at  their  hands.  they're  still  curled  into  his  side,  but  they're  tense,  now.  "he  uh--  basically  said  he  was  only  with  me  for  my  money,  that  i  was  fat,  i  was  ugly--  and  i  realized  i  was  only  in  that  situation  because  of  my  parents'  expectations,  and  i  couldn't  stay  a  day  longer.  i  was  miserable  every  day.  starving  myself  to  fit  in  a  cheerleading  uniform,  in  a  major  i  didn't  want  to  be  in,  to  go  run  a  company  i  had  no  choice  but  to  join.  it  was  a  coward's  move,  i  should  have  stayed  and  called  him  out.  but  i  couldn't. there  wasn't  a  single  person  left  that  cared  about  me.  all  my  friends  were  leon  or  kayleigh's  friends,  not  mine.  and  leon  he–  he  convinced  me  i  was  crazy.  that  he  hadn't  been  a  shit  boyfriend,  i  was  just–  high  maintenance."

" Hm -- " He wants to nod in agreement , like he understands but he doesn't . And he recalls his mother just bailing on the family and Nadine doing the very same soon after . Both of which he still wonders about despite knowing very well what they'd been through with his father .

Which is why he can't really hold back his curiosity when it came to Frankie . " Yeah , why though ? " Blurted right out that he can't even get into the whole sledding thing that he'd initially asked about .
