ALL PRAISE LECHONK!! (Thoughts on new PKMN Sc + Vi trailer)
Happy June, Friends!
Not only are we jumping into Summer and kicking off Pride Month, we've got a another trailer for the Gen 9 Pokémon games. So, as per usual, here are my summarized thoughts on what was shown.
Starting off, I feel I should probably get the negatives out of the way first. So... ...the new professors. When I first saw them in trailer, I thought they looked fine. It is a pretty cool idea to have two different main professors for each version, and their styles do fit the new theme they appear to be going with (more on that later). However, I got the feeling from them that Gamefreak was leaning towards a slightly more realistic design for the humans in these games (something akin to the humans in Pokémon GO). That would have been fine by me, no skin off my bones, but then I took a look at the new updates on the official Pokemon website. There I saw the 2D character art for these two. From 2D to 3D, Prof. Sada looked just fine. But, Prof. Turo...
...oh, Turo...   ...What did they do to you!? He looks SO GOOD in his 2D art! Major Science Dad Vibes! But when you compare the 3D model, it just looks wrong! Maybe its just me but, I honestly feel robbed here. Perhaps the models will updated and look a little better by release, I pray.
That aside, these two are actually rather stylish and look fine (like dangerous for my poor Bisexual heart kind of "fine")
---
Moving on, let's talk about the major themes of these games and the new Mascot Legendaries they built off of them.
From the trailer, I now believe that the major theme of Gen 9 is a conflict of history/tradition versus modernization/technology. Scarlet appears to mainly focus on the history/tradition side, with Prof. Sada and the main Legendary, Koraidon, having a rather wild, ancient look to them. Meanwhile, Violet seems to focus on modernization/technology, with Prof. Toru and Miraidon clearly having a futuristic, technological aesthetic. In fact, I believe the Korai and Mirai in the Legendaries' names tanslate to "ancient times" and "the future" respectivley (don't quote me on that, in case I'm wrong. I'm no Japanese expert).
This idea is really interesting to me on a personal level. You guys probably don't remember, but in a previous Pokémon news journal, I mentioned how I once thought up my own fake Pokémon Games concept involving time travel. Well, the mascot Pokémon of those fake games were representative of the Past and the Future. The Future Pokémon was even a jet-flying, technological dragon! What are the odds? For that alone, I am much more interested in these games and hope to see more what their story is.
The Legendaries themselves look pretty, freaking cool, if I do say so. No particular favorite out of the two yet, but Koraidon is kinda catching my eye :3
-----
Alright, quick thoughts on the other new stuff:
- Nemona - Not much to say here. She's looks fine as far as friend/rival characters go. Fairly cute. Personally love that she has freckles. But, I'll have to wait for info on her to have more of an opinion.
- Pawmi - First reaction, "That is just an Awoofy from Kirby and the Forgotten Land," convince me otherwise. In all serious, while I didn't think much of them from the trailer, looking them up on the website did let me see that they're actually pretty cute. ^^ A good fit for the requisite Electric mouse Pokemon for the region, I just personally hope they get an evolved form.
- Smoliv - That face!! XD I thought he looked a bit odd for a Pokémon design at first, but he's quickly grown on me. Especially learning now that he's a freaking OLIVE!! And a bitter one at that. But, I'm it's actually pretty easy being nice to a bitter boy like him. And soon, I'll have an olive friend!~  (Praise be, whoever gets my obscure references)
- The One and Only, LECHONK!!! - LOOK AT HIM!! LOOK AT HIM!!! HE'S SO CUTE! A PERFECT LITTLE PIGGY!! HE'S A SHY, TIMID CHILD BUILT LIKE A MUSCLED TANK!! I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!! <3 ^w^ <3
-----
That should be all for now. The rest of the trailer was just gameplay of the open world aspect for Gen 9. It looked cool but, I won't be much help in diving into the specifics of gameplay.
Goodbye for now, Friends! Remember, Stay safe and have a Wonderful, Prideful Summer!! ^w^

...I don’t think I’m ready for Gen 9
I knew deep down that a Gen 9 announcement was on the horizon, but I didn't realize just how much I wasn't ready for Gen 9. I still need to fully explore all of Gen 8! When did Pokémon generations pass by so quickly? Is it just me? *sigh* Looks like 2022 is going to be a year of me finishing all the games I have of the previous Generation of Pokémon before (presumably) November hits. As for what we saw of Scarlet and Violet themselves, they do look pretty good, for what I can tell. It's cool that the open world environment of Legends is possibly being fully incorporated into the main games. The starters look cute (first impressions: Grass = super cute furbait kitty, Fire = Dig Dug/apple boy, Water = Pompadour Donald Duck). I tried to see if I could dissect any more little details from the trailer. The best I got was that the new region might be based on the peninsula containing Spain and Portugal. And that there was repeated subtle imagery of oranges and grapes in the later live action bit (possible allusions to our two new mascots?) For now, I'll save any deeper thoughts for when more info is released. Till then, Friends, stay safe and Happy Pokémon Day!!

New Pokemon News-Drop Today (My Thoughts
Pokemon is back at it again with more info on the upcoming Gen 5 remakes, as well as, Arceus: Legends. These were my thoughts on what we were shown: - Unite, Cafe ReMix, Masters, and GO: There's not much I have to say about these updates on Pokemon's running titles, mostly because (besides Pokemon GO) I don't play any of these. Unite holds no interest for me, with the option to dress up your pokemon as the only reason I'm slightly tempted to look at it. I played the original Cafe Mix for a week: thought it was cute but, disliked the puzzle gameplay. And, I just never looked into Masters. Maybe if I find some friends who really, really love these titles and want me to play with them, I'll consider playing these. But for now, let's get into why I woke up early just to see these announcements live... ----- - Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl: YES! YES!! YYEEESSSS!!!! I am SO HAPPY!! Maybe the choice of visual design threw people off at first but, these look so good. The style remains perfectly cute and charming. Plus, they are indeed changing things up and adding new elements to the remakes. My biggest concern when I saw the first announcement for these games was that (especially with another company in charge of development) they would stick too close to the design of the originals. It may only a few little touches that we know of so far, but I'm excited to see if there's more to come. My thoughts on each individual element: - Your Pokemon Follow You: You heard here, folks. The Pokemon Company is once again giving us partner Pokemon that follow you around in the overworld. You'd think such a detail wouldn't be that important but, it really does add to the experience of a Pokemon game. Done well, it helps you see your own Pokemmon as living partners rather than pawns in combat - Ball Capsules and Stickers are Back: WooHoo! It honestly isn't a surprise to see them here, but I'm still happy to see these back again. I don't remember fiddling with the ball capsules too much as a kid playing the Gen 5 games, yet I was still sad to see them go in later games. I thought it was such a cool idea to be able to personally edit the entrance effects of your Pokemon. - Updated Contests: Contests were not a big interest to me when I was playing the originals as a kid. However, I was hoping that they would update them in these remakes. So far, I like what I see. The dance and battle showcase portions of the original games seem to have been merged into a new rhythm mini-game, which is fine by me. I do hope to see the dress up accessories come back into play, especially if these can be worn by your Pokemon outside of the contests. I don't know, I think it'd be fun ^^ - Trainer Styles: Not the full avatar customization of the later generations, but still a nice addition. Good on you, Pokemon - Expanded Underground: Now, this is interesting. I was excited to be able to travel the Sinnoh Underground again, and now they've made it even better. The Pokemon Hide-aways look like a fun addition. And, (from what I've seen so far) these could be another solution to the whole Fire-type issue that Sinnoh was so infamous for. In summation, I was already set to get Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and these announcements only have me more stoked to see what they have in store. (Side note: My currant status on withholding myself from buying that new Switch Lite when I have a functioning Pokemon-themed Lite and am saving up for the full OLED model is... ...failing miserably. IT LOOKS SO COOL, YOU GUYS!!! T-T ) ----- - Legends Arceus: The perfect little cherry on top to this buffet of news. SWEET MERCY! This game is looking so GOOD! I want it so badly! Everything we saw in the initial announcement is so much more polished and breathtaking here. I can't wait for it to come out. And to put this out there, I love the addition of Action Order battle mechanics. I don't play many action rpg's but, I am excited to try this one out. The idea of using different styles really does seem to add a whole new layer of strategy to Pokemon's base battle mechanics, especially if I can set up combos without taking a hit in-between moves. Maybe if it does well, they'll try incorporating that into the main series games ^^. New Hisui Pokemon: - Wyrdeer: *Flashbacks to Princess Mononoke* Stantler may be a favorite of mine, but I do adore him getting more love and attention like. Wyrdeer just looks like a boss! - Basculegion: Again, not a favorite Pokemon of mine, actually something of a personal ire for me, now given a really boss looking evolution. But, that backstory ... O-O - Hisuian Braviary: Not much to say, he just looks cool - Hisuian Growlithe: *GAAASSSPPP!!* PUPPY!! LOOK AT THE PUPPER!! GIVE ME THE FIRE-ROCK PUPPER!! I'LL TAKE TWENTY!!! New Human Characters: - Prof Laventon: Don't know what to think of you just yet so, we'll just wait and see how things go down with you. - Captain Cyllene: (first reation: "Wait... that's a woman? Well, don't I have egg on my face right now ;P) That said, I am intrigued by this character. Her design reminds me heavily of Tilda Swinton (just saying). Though, with her being this game's parallel/possible ancestor for Cyrus, it seems a bit too obvious to make her the big bad of our adventure. Perhaps they'll do something more interesting with her story but, we'll have to wait and see - Commander Kamado: Oh, my... W-well, it seems we have our Prof. Rowan parrallel/possible ancestor. And he looks very tough, and s-strong, and commanding... ...and handsome, and... O///O ...w-w-will, you excuse me for a sec. ----- TL;DR - I may not care for the running events of the current present, but I am more than excited to see the treasures and legends of generations past

That New Pokemon Direct, Though (My Thoughts)
Pokemon is now 25 years old!! With this momentous occasion, we have received a new Direct video about Pokemon's up-and-coming developments!! It came and went in a snap but, still gave us a look at a brilliant and shining future, while providing a taste of a legendary history. My Thoughts: ----- New Pokemon Snap: I don't believe I have ever talked the Pokemon Snap revamp on this site so, here we go. I've never played the original Pokemon Snap game so, I have no personal nostalgia for this spin-off. However, I am kind of excited for it. I think it could be a full little side adventure. No battles, no enemy teams, no big save-the-world journey; just looking for Pokemon doing fun Pokemon things and taking pictures of em. Sweet!! I may or may not actually buy it on release (I'm trying to be tighter with my budgeting). Still, I hope it turns out to be fun for a lot of people. Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl: OoooooooooooooOOoooOO!! THIS IS IT!! We've finally got some Gen 4 love in here!! No joke, Generation 4 is my all time favorite era of Pokemon. Diamond was the first main game I ever played and was what really drove me into becoming a full on Pokemon fan. This maybe fueled by blind Nostalgia but, SWEET ARCEUS, I AM HYPED AS HELL!! That said though, I do feel I need to address some criticism/concerns I have as well: - I will count myself among those who expected GameFreak to give us the same game story of the originals delivered with the graphics/art style of the current generation, like with previous remakes. Color us surprised when we're shown gameplay footage and see the return of chibi-fied overworld characters and grid-based environments. Now this really isn't an issue for me. I don't need the end-all-be-all of video game visuals as long as the game can still function properly. Honestly, I kinda missed the little blocky little overworld people. They were cute. Still, it's bit weird that the main games of the two most recent generations have consistent full scale models and more organic environment layouts but, these remakes appear to be recreating the old games' style as closely and as strictly as possible. Why this is, maybe explained more by my next point. - Despite being co-directed by Masuda himself, the remakes are not being developed by GameFreak's staff but, by a partner company, ILCA. This has me concerned. Not that I think that they'll do poorly or change the games in any bad ways. They're already working off of a solid template. However, that is my concern. That since they're not the usual staff, they're going to be too cautious with changing anything from the original games. Whether out of reverence to Masuda and GameFreak or, out of fear of the nostalgia blinded fans, they'll stick strictly to adapting Diamond and Pearl exactly as they already were. I know that is kind of the point of remakes and remasters (giving old and new fans another chance to play the original) but, since I've already played the originals, I wouldn't mind some alterations. I like it when a remake can look at its older self, keep and enhance what was great about it, change or take out what doesn't hold up well anymore, add some new things for little spice, and ultimately give its consumers a fresh new take on a older property. Things like the Delta Episode (a new epilogue adventure building off the old main story) were my favorite parts of playing through Alpha Sapphire. So, I am hoping for something like that to appear in these games. However, this is just the announcement. I can't truly say that GameFreak/ILCA sticking so close to originals (if that is indeed what they're doing) is a pro or a con for these remakes until I play them. And yes, I will be playing these remakes because my love for Gen 4 is that strong!! One of my main boys isn't a Luxio for now reason!! Heck, I've even thought about streaming my playthrough of it!! Nah, never mind. No one would watch that. Still, I am a bit disappointed that I won't be able to explore a full-scale, open area Sinnoh region... ...unless... Legends Arceus: OH MY... okay, just listen. Within the back corners of my mind, this is the Pokemon game I always wanted. A Pokemon adventure taking place in a far earlier time in the world's history; SIGN ME UP!! Years ago when I tried coming with ideas for a fake Pokemon game, my biggest idea was an adventure that was half set in the past (time travel shenanigans. I blame Pokemon 4ever and its steampunk Pokeballs). So far, I love what I am seeing of the game. The old world versions of the Gen 4 protagonists look great and, I'm stoked to see an untamed version of Sinnoh. What's the story? How does Arceus come into play? Could the story possibly be about the older conflict between Dialga and Palkia? This actually gives me hope that Legends will continue on as a series with the other regions!! Possibly even one for Johto that depicts the story of the Legendary Beast Trio... ...please? No major criticisms or concerns so far, except maybe two. First is that, from what we were shown in the trailer, the game still needs polishing. The overworld Pokemon animations look a little janky to me. Second, and by far the most important thing, is HOW DARE YOU MAKE THE STARTERS THREE FAVORITES OF MINE!! HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO CHOOSE!!!???? ----- TLDR; I thoroughly enjoyed the new developments shown in this Direct but, I'd still like to keep up an attitude of cautious optimism for these new releases. They may not end up being perfect but, I'd like to keep hoping they'll still be enjoyable to play. Thank you for stopping by, Friends. Hope you're all staying safe and well. Have a wonderful day. ^w^ (*sigh* that was a long one. Thank Arceus, I no longer have to deal with all those nagging REMAKE GEN 4 comments ever again... ...they've already started screaming about Gen 5 now, haven't they?)

Happy Birthday you fabulous, high-society Lion daddy!! Each section is based on an in-game interaction I've had with him: 1- He a sent a recolored version of his signature jacket. We're Matching ^^ 2- He and Skye had a fallout and she had me deliver a pink sailor shirt to apologize. Just look at him!! He's so cute!! 3- He was intensely checking out a Nail art set at Nook's Cranny. I bought it for him and earned major friendship points. He is a stylish wild cat~

January Pokemon Direct Thoughts
Hey, Everyone. It's been a while since I last talked about new Pokemon Direct info, but, after watching the new Direct today, I have some thoughts I'd like to get out. So, if you're interested, thanks for sticking around. -----
- DLC Expansion Passes:  I actually really like this idea. Mostly because I was recently thinking that this should have been a thing since Gen 6. Since X and Y, I've kind of felt that the Pokemon games have been a little lacking in post game content. At some point, you just end up doing all the game really has to offer. I also felt that new special Pokemon giveaways (Diancie, Hoopa, Volcanion, Magearna, Marshadow, and Zeraora) lack a lot of the flair that's supposed to make them memorable. From what I remember of Gen 4/5, these special giveaways always coincided with special in-game events: You get a special item, trigger a story event, unlock a new location, and then you battle and catch the new Pokemon. These newer giveaways just gave you the Pokemon out right which, while fine, is too simple and just lacks a bit of the old, fun theatrics. Not helping is that all of these "secret" Pokemon are quickly found out long before hand thanks to hackers.
When I was thinking about this, my thought was that having these special Pokemon being revealed and catchable as part of DLC updates would fix these issues. You can add new content post game, really show off the new Pokemon, and even keep them secret till the official release. And lo and behold, that's just what they're doing. Admittedly, the biggest problem with this model may be pricing (I don't want Pokemon to bleed its fans dry). The thirty dollar price kinda chilled me at first sight but, in the end, I don't think it's that bad of an investment for those who are truly interested for year long updates. (It's certainly better than needing to have to buy a new full price game just for new content).
So far, both "The Isle of Armor" and "The Crown Tundra" look incredibly interesting to me and, I can't wait to play them!
- Expanded National Dex:  I never spoke my own opinion on the big National Dex issue that was (is) a real hot topic surrounding Sword and Shield. Honestly, I didn't feel it was too big an issue for me and my enjoyment of the games. Personally, I go into these new games with a personal rule of only using new Pokemon to get a feel for them instead of relying on old favorites. I will admit that GameFreak could have saved themselves a lot of trouble by just waiting another year or so to develop the games with a full Dex instead of insisting on a big release every single year. Fans can be "impatient" but, I could wait.
That said, I did predict that this might have been wait they were going to do a along; just release updates that would expand the Dex. It turned out to just be a matter of waiting. Also, I do appreciate that these updates are still free separate from the Expansion passes. Good show on that at least GameFreak.
- New Pokemon:
    - Kubfu: Scrappy little teddy bear cub. I LOVE THEM!! =^w^= Headcanon: Will try to fight anyone and everyone he comes across but, their all too enthrall with their cuteness
    - Urshifu: So Cool!! Really love the intro they gave em in the trailer. Wonder which form I'll end up with...
    - Calyrex: I'm intrigued; mostly about how their plume-top resembles a big English crown and appears to act like a hot air balloon (Symbolism)
    - New Regis(?): Fun! I want to know more about you guys! Like, if they're still based on different eras in time, what would they be?
    - Galarian Legendary Birds(?): Oh cool! I guess we may Regional forms for Legendaries now
- No Gen 4 Remakes:  Let me just get this out now. I am not happy that there was no news about any Gen 4 remakes. BUT, I am not upset over this fact. I love Diamond and Pearl but, if they're going to have remakes, I'm willing to wait and not pester the game developers about them. GameFreak is not obligated to make these remakes, and demanding them won't make them come any faster (not for any good results).
Apologies. I just keep seeing this Gen 4 Remakes posts/comments and they just keep getting pushier and pushier. I'm tired -_-
- Pokemon Mystery Dungeon DX:  Now, this is interesting. I guess we're getting remakes of spin-off titles now. Funny enough, I've never gotten into the Mystery Dungeon games. I had Explorers of Time but, strangely I could never get into it. Maybe, if I get this, I can finally step into this series from where it all started. ^^
----- That's really all I have to say for the moment. TL;DR: I like what I saw from the Direct and have good hopes for the future.
Hope you're having a great day, Friends ^^

Note
I saw your direct thoughts for sword and shield, and I propose to you a new facet of zacian, based on my own HC, though yours are still awesome. Zacian is basically a combo of a knight, wolf, and HORSE. He does horse behaviors, can mimic horse noises, and is trained to be ridden like one. Tack included.
Sir. Sir. That is hilarious.
No joke, I think I need to draw that now.

Thoughts on June Pokemon Sword and Shield Direct
- So, this generation's new battle mechanic is Dynamax, where everyday battles become Kaiju fights. Cool idea but, I suppose I'll have to save my deeper thoughts til I actually play the games. - Pokemon GO raid battles are now a part of the main series. Like before, cool idea but I'll have to wait to play it. - Galar region continues to look BEAUTIFUL and hey, they made the camera movable. NICE! Now it feels kind of like an open world (got major Breath of Wild feelings here) - The New Pokemon: - Wooloo: IT'S SO CUTE AND FLUFFY!!! - Drednaw: He could take my hole arm off in one bite but, I'd still try to pet him ^^ - Corviknight: You, my good sir, look so FREAKING COOL!!! - Gossifler and Eldegoss: You look nice but, I'm the one at home who takes the majority of lawncare duties so, I must harbor disdain for you on a personal level - The New Trainers: - Leon: *whistles* Well, hello mister long, tanned, and handsome ^^ - Professor Magnolia and Sonia: Aw, you two look so sweet; like a grandmother and big sister pair. - Hop: Really, Hop? Not even Hopper or something? Eh, whatever. He looks good, I guess. I'll have to see what he's like in the actual game to... Wait, ARE THOSE ROTOM POKEDEX SMARTPHONE??!!??!! - Milo: ...I am reserving judgement til a later date... -_- - So, outside of being spectacles for Dynamax pokemon fights, gyms haven't really changed? Okay, cool. - The New Legendaries: - REJOICE WOLF BRETHREN - We all predicted that the legendaries would be wolf based and I AM SO HAPPY WE WERE RIGHT!! - I already feel to make fanart and fan comics of these boys so, here are just my dumb, quick notes on the personalites and traits I've just headcanoned for them: ZAMAZENTA: - True knight and guardian - Loyal and Responsible - Maintains a constant air of Noble Power - The partner you want to respect but, also want to give belly rubs and boop noses. - Is 100% done with Zacian's nonsense - He is a good, well trained wolf knight doggo ZACIAN: - Reckless idiot fighter - Jumps into battle - Jumps you when you arrive home - Carries giant sword in his mouth like a FREAKING CHEW TOY - Would gleefully roll over for belly rubs from total strangers - He is a sweet but poorly trained wolf knight doggo A summary of their relationship: Zamazenta: Zacian, let me see what you have. Zacian: A SWORD!! Zamazenta: NO!!!! - Dang it, Game Freak! Now I don't know which version I want anymore. Oh well, guess I'll get both ^^ - (Also, sadly not impressed with official boxart. It's personal but, the backgrounds are just kinda bland)

Yep, we're doing this again. Another OC for another Community day. I introduce you guys to Apollo the Shelgon. Admittedly, not the easiest Pokemon to anthropomorphize but, I liked the idea of the challenge. What do you guys think? *BING BONG* "Attention! This is a lost item announcement. Would whoever left a pair of black pants in the 2nd floor men's dressing room please come to the front desk to claim them?"
