Is the project heading in the right direction?

Despite some doubts, I really think the project is taking good shape and going in the right direction. This might be because in the recent meeting done by some students of the group, structured ideas were seen in al plans presented. Also the group is highly motivated into doing something that leaves a mark.

At first I thought this project wasn’t at the right track due to the lack of communication between the 3 groups (cultural, sports and personal development). But, after the meeting this project finally took a single way. After that day everything was more clear, but two or three days later, they told me that my group no longer exists, that the only two groups that remain are sports and personal development, this was made without an agreement between all the students, and I was really mad about it, because at least you do it in a formal way, giving reasons why it should disappear. So what we had (the donated books for the activity), we will donate them to the school and now I am preparing the songs that we will play at the final event.

I dont think the project is on the right way. This is because i don't think it was a good option to choose, we could have done better with some other place instead of the "Telesecundaria"

I think that we might be in the right direction despite the setbacks that we had earlier in the project. I feel confident that we will be able to do something good. We just need to really focus our efforts in achievable tasks and organize ourselves in order to execute this tasks.

Blog 2.1 What are we doing for our project?

Recently I've been sharing an invitation for people to donate books and I actually received some, however that is not enough. My team and I will keep working on this. I also went with the plastics art teacher, of Tecnológico de Monterrey Campus Sonora Norte, to ask him about some basic pencil drawing activities I can perform with kids from the Telesecundaria. I've been assisting to his art classes since first semester and our relationship is quite good, so I might invite him to joins us some day. Also I obtained some recycled paper which will be needed for the activity. -Abraham Canseco For this project, I am working with the cultural group, and the contribution starts with getting enough donated books for the students in the Telesecundaria. Then we create a program, in which the students read one book and pass it to another student, as well as getting more books to the library, which is being used for teacher meetings and not as a library. Also we are planning on making a music and drawing presentation. - Adrián Ross I'm part of the group that is in charge of the cultural aspect of the project. Our first action will be the gifting of books to the students of the "telesecundaria" this books will be acquired through donations in our school. We will later encourage the kids to pass the books on to other kids after they have read them. We are also planning on making an art presentation for the children in order to encourage them to get involved in art. -Marco Beltrán En el proyecto que se está realizando en la telesecundaria que tiene lugar en san pedro soy el organizador del área de deporte, actualmente no se a realizado ninguna actividad para recaudar fondos más sin embargo tenemos varias ideas de cómo fomentar el liderazgo y el deporte al mismo tiempo. Como actividad de cierre está planeado hacer un “carneritos en acción” el cual con la ayuda de mis compañeros se puedan incluir las demás áreas trabajadas.  -Julio Encinas

My role in this project is to be in the sport group, that is responsible for promoting health and sport activities in the students. My task here is to get the sport materials necessary and donate them to the school in order for the students to practice their favorite sports and to have fun. To do this our job is to recollect money through charity events, food sales, or any other funding activities, and compare prices in different stores to see which gives us the most amount of good quality sport materials. -Marco Amavizca Para lograr realizar este proyecto ayudare a recolectar libros  para donar a la tele secundaria de san pedro y utilizando mi tiempo para prepararme o preparar actividades o lo que se necesite para lograr que el proyecto sea sustentable y apoyar a una buena causa. -Roberto Vázquez

Blog 1.2 What are your expectations of this project?

I am really convinced that we can achieve great things. We are a united and coordinated group willing to leave a footprint wherever it is needed. I think this is going to be a life changer experience for the ones we help and for ourselves. I wish that after the project is accomplished, more people will become interested in altruist actions. -Abraham Canseco I expect to make a meaningful change in as many lives possible. I'm hoping to be able to broaden the children's  goals and make them aspire to be even bigger things that what they want to be right now. -Marco Beltrán My expectations regarding this project are high because it is a project worth working for. Not only does this helps us to be better persons, but it has a great impact among these students lives. I personally believe that we can make this project work due to the time and importance were giving to it and also hope that we can give these students the help they need. If we do this right, we can make this a successful and sustainable project. -Marco Amavizca My expectations for this project consist of creating a better place for this people. By encouraging them in many areas, such as sports, cultural, leadership, and many more areas. They need motivation to become leaders, and to let them know that they can be better, even though they have a rough situation. - Adrián Ross First of all I want to leave a mark in any area, I just want to make the best effort of me and my team, also I want to make a project in the area of sport that leave a mark and make great friendships. But I hope all of us leave a mark and make "changes agents" and make a little change in our society. -Julio Encinas

Our thoughts

Our goal is to help kids without any or low opportunities to contribute to society. This can be achieved by providing especial education to the ones who need it. We want to raise awareness on how voluntary people produce a change. -Abraham Canseco

Our goal is to stop spread the message of acceptance for other races, ethnicities and social classes. We cannot progress if we are not united as a society. We must accept other people as what they are: Human beings. Marco Beltrán

Consumption of alcohol in teenagers is a problem our community has been facing through the years and still today it is growing instead of decreasing. The reason why this is a continuos problem is the easy access to alcohol teenagers have in our community. Another cause may be the positive image alcohol has in our city, alcohol sale is a profitable business in our community so its publicity has to be positive in order to sell more product, that way teenagers get the wrong influence and tend consume its products. -Marco Amavizca

The consumption of drugs and alcohol at a young age, is due to the bad education and the bad hobbies they adopt since they are young. We want to implement in them hobbies in which they can spend time doing good, with activities like playing soccer, basketball and other sports, or artistic/cultural activities, such as music, drawing and painting. -Julio Encinas

We want to exterminate discrimination, because it only separate us from others and create conflicts between races. We want to create bonds in people, since they are kids, because kids are like sponges, what they see, they do. What they observe, they learn. And by giving the right education and tools to them, they will create a better community. - Adrián Ross

What problems or issues does your Community currently face? Corruption, discrimination, large socioeconomic gap, insecurity, lack of water and poverty.

What problems or issues do minorities in your Community deal with? Illegal drugs, alcohol, lack of resources, lack of education, hostility from local population. Less job opportunities due to their background and not for their skills.

What problems or issues does the youth in your Community currently face? Alcohol and smoking problems, consuming drugs at a young age due to ease of purchase. Having to drop out of school due to insufficient income in the family. Dropping out of school due to social groups or by their own will.

The 3 most important problems that we face, according to us are:

- Lack of education

- Discrimination - Consumption of alcohol at a young age
