The Gilbert Thomson Project
I am a member of the New Ipswich Historical Society. We often receive donations of photos, letters and other artifacts from various people, often when they are cleaning out a home of a deceased resident. We had to adopt policy guidelines about what to accept. The items need to be of significance to our town. Other Historical Societies have to grapple with the same issues. In October of 2021 we…

50501 Movement - April 19, 2025 - Townsend, MA
There were nationwide demonstrations across the nation to uphold the constitution a protest the policies of executive overreach. I attended one in Townsend, MA on the town common. The demonstrators received a lot of encouraging beeps from the passing cars which seems to indicate that there might be a growing unease with the direction that Donald Trump and his minions are leading our nation. I…

Photo Journal - Week 6 (2025)
2 months old and full of energy We have been catless for almost 5 years, so when my yoga instructor mentioned her cat was pregnant and asked if I wanted to adopt kittens I was happy to accept her offer. We’ve never taken in kittens. Most of our cats were strays that just showed up and decided they wanted to live with us. It was imperative to take 2 kittens because they spend each waking moment…

Photo Journal - Week 3 (2025)
Daily photo themes, also photos from our monthly jam
Nothing but blue skies from now on… Last Week My goal is to have this newsletter published by EOD on Sunday, but in reality it gets done when it gets done. I’ve been getting familiar with Bluesky as a replacement for my Facebook and Instagram postings. I was pleased to see that it provides a mechanism for embedding posts as HTML code. I’ve started to post a random daily picture. There is no…

Photo Journal - Week 2 (2025)
Good morning, something to look at after WORDLE
Nothing but blue skies from now on Good morning, welcome to the 2nd edition of my 2025 photo journal. I’m moving away from Facebook, Instagram, Threads and WhatsUp. Apparently Zuckerberg is anxious to have his platform emulate that of Musk. One of Musk is one too many. This website will be my Instagram and Blue Sky will be my Facebook. Look for me there at…

Labyrinth, a selfie and some picture themes for week 1 of 2025
A New Year First an apology to my readers. It was my goal to have a weekly entry for this website. It all fell apart in the last weeks of the year. It just got too busy. I’ve been keeping up to date with the picture themes and the historical newsletter but have ignored this website. Keeping with tradition I spent New Years day transversing the Labyrinth that was laid out on the floor of the…

Daily picture themes and AI
Tis the Season We have snow, we have ice, the roads are bad…but the Spring Equinox is only 99 days away. I’m skipping TaiChi today and my Yoga class was cancelled. I’m going to stay inside and finish this journal entry for last week. I try to have these completed on Sunday, but chose to attend the monthly music jam at the Temple Town Hall instead. Music over scribbling, ASK and AI will…

Weekly Photo Journal - Week 48 (2024)
Thanksgiving Week Brrrr, it is cold. At least it is safe to put out the bird feeders and suet cakes. I have feeders in the east, south and west windows. The crows have been feasting the on the turkey carcass although the neigbor’s cat has also made an appearance. Thanksgiving was nice, the predicted snowline never dipped into New Ipswich and Nashua so the roads were wet but not…

Weekly Photo Journal - Week 47 (2024)
“There is nothing to be learned from the second kick of a mule.”— Mark Twain New Ipswich Historical Society It was a cold rainy evening when we met for our last meeting of 2024 in the unheated confines of the New Ipswich Historical Society building. NIHS President John Rosenfelder brought along a most welcome space heater. It was a busy 2024 as outlined in the President’s Letter NIHS Board…
