It's a little surprising that the "Monday's child is fair of face" nursery rhyme never caught on as an arbitrary personality-assigner in the same way astrology did. It makes the same amount of sense.

"Ship fics where one person gets de-aged are weird" the de-aging trope is about healing your inner child by showing your young traumatized self that in the future they will have someone who loves them I'm seriously gonna kill you

I really love the "reveal" (reveal in the sense that I'm pretending your writing is canon) that the reason the world of BNHA is Like That is because of a catastrophic relationship over a hundred years ago. AFO started his rampage because he never wanted to feel weak ever again. Superheros started popping up because first is tried to do anything he could to further piss off AFO. Society to its very bare bones is built around the two of them fighting. And I love that AFO is built up as this huge conspiring mastermind, and then you finally see him and he's just horribly human. He's obsessed with OFA, not because it's the only thing powerful enough to stop him (though it is), but because he thinks it's how he will get his brother back. He loves his brother so so much and that love has doomed the lives of everyone it touches. Japan is built off the causalities of that horrible love. So fucking good
Oh I’m so glad you like it because I love the idea that so much of society was born of all for one and first’s disastrous fucking relationship. Honestly I was kind of surprised that canon didn’t go that direction? They seemed to want to have all for one be the source of much of the societal chaos of the dawn of quirks but then I felt like First, Second, Third, and their resistance just weren’t really linked that cleanly to the first heroes. They seemed to be fighting all for one more as soldiers. if they had something to do with the like, heroic society itself, I missed it.
I also just like the idea that it was very casual cruelty that set off the chain of events that led to what society became. So much of the world is the product of the orphanage that all for one and first grew up in.
All for One hadn’t been stealing Quirks until First was sick and he needed a way to heal him. But he needed to do it himself because the orphanage directors weren’t giving First medical treatment. And so much of what he became was because they refused to let all for one take First with him when he left the orphanage.
All for One and First were the definition of disposable. They were nothing. No one cared about them except for each other. They were too meta for their family to ever accept them but not meta enough for them to be able to do anything. They were easy targets for abuse. No one would ever speak up on their behalf.
So much of what happened was because a couple of orphanage directors decided to be cruel to two little boys for the sake of cruelty.
First always wondered if maybe it’d all be different if they’d just let all for one take him from the orphanage. And I’m honestly not sure it would be. All for One likely would have gone on a power trip again. But maybe he wouldn’t have. It definitely would have been a different start.
Fundamentally, hurting all for one and first shouldn’t have ever mattered. No one thought it would. They were in that orphanage because they were supposed to be the kids that would never matter.
All for One forced stockpile on First because he wanted to make him stronger. He needed to make him stronger because First had gotten sick. First only got sick because the orphanage directors refused him treatment.
One for All’s struggle with all for one is sourced in mindless cruelty against the weak by the strong. And the entire world is made in the image of people who should have died and been discarded like disposable razors. I like the idea of that. And I like the idea that Izuku, another little boy who was hurt because he was never supposed to matter, is the one taking up its mantle.

Whenever I think about students using AI, I think about an essay I did in high school. Now see, we were reading The Grapes of Wrath, and I just couldn't do it. I got 25 pages in and my brain refused to read any more. I hated it. And its not like I hate the classics, I loved English class and I loved reading. I had even enjoyed Of Mice and Men, which I had read for fun. For some reason though, I absolutely could NOT read The Grapes of Wrath.
And it turned out I also couldn't watch the movie. I fell asleep in class both days we were watching it.
This, of course, meant I had to cheat on my essay.
And I got an A.
The essay was to compare the book and the movie and discuss the changes and how that affected the story.
Well it turned out Sparknotes had an entire section devoted to comparing and contrasting the book and the movie. Using that, and flipping to pages mentioned in Sparknotes to read sections of the book, I was able to bullshit an A paper.
But see the thing is, that this kind of 'cheating' still takes skills, you still learn things.
I had to know how to find the information I needed, I needed to be able to comprehend what sparknotes was saying and the analysis they did, I needed to know how to USE the information I read there to write an essay, I needed to know how to make sure none of it was marked as plagerized. I had to form an opinion on the sparknotes analysis so I could express my own opinions in the essay.
Was it cheating? Yeah, I didn't read the book or watch the movie. I used Sparknotes. It was a lot less work than if I had read the book and watched the movie and done it all myself.
The thing is though, I still had to use my fucking brain. Being able to bullshit an essay like that is a skill in and of itself that is useful. I exercised important skills, and even if it wasnt the intended way I still learned.
ChatGTP and other AI do not give that experience to people, people have to do nothing and gain nothing from it.
Using AI is absolutely different from other ways students have cheated in the past, and I stand by my opinion that its making students dumber, more helpless, and less capable.
However you feel about higher education, I think its undeniable that students using chatgtp is to their detriment. And by extension a detriment to anyone they work with or anyone who has to rely on them for something.

Incredibly curious what Kenjaku thinks of everything in the whirlwind romance au. I’ve never forgiven Gege for not addressing the whole //waves hands// genderfluid body snatching brain being Yuuji’s mom.
But even aside from that, their plan is so contingent on Gojo not knowing about them and Yuuji (eventually Megumi) eating the finger that I wonder how things will go. Despite the shadow of itself jjk has become by the end, there’s ideas there that I think are still very compelling. Will yet another genocidal plan get destroyed by the power of love?
Kenjaku is screaming into his own hands. He literally put out for this plan and it got completely fucked by his son’s bisexuality.
Gojo Satoru, the man who he was planning to overcome via pure shock value, is now on the lookout for someone with his distinctive head scars and knows he possesses corpses. His entire plan for the prison realm is now undermined and he doesn’t know if he should risk it. And his backup plan of bringing back Sukuna via Yuuji is now at risk because Yuuji’s literally has Gojo’s full and undivided attention at almost all moments that he’s off campus, Gojo is trying to glare a hole into Yuuji’s hand with his mind so Yuuji will stop putting it in Megumi’s back pocket. Did he lose something in there.
And it’s not even fucking Gojo as the only problem because his son is attached at the hip to the fucking Ten Shadows, who is rumored to have finally figured out he’s a special grade and started acting the part.
The Ten Shadows is also something kenjaku didn’t exactly plan for.
The Ten Shadows is a wild card to him. Gojo Satoru had existed without the ten shadows being reborn for much longer than anyone expected. They usually are born within a few years of each other. But the Gojo clan announced that the six eyes had been reborn and the Zenin’s silence became increasingly pronounced. Rumors were flying that the Zenin clan had been scorned by fate for failing to protect the last ten shadows.
I egregiously reuse my own backstories, if you haven’t noticed. Maki mentioned in sgg that the last ten shadows was killed as a child and that everyone knew the six eyes had done it. That’s true in the whirlwind romance au too.
But the thing is that in both AUs, it really hadn’t been the Six Eyes. It had been Kenjaku.
Kenjaku was testing the bonds of fate. Canonically, the Six Eyes is bound by fate to the Star Plasma Vessel and Tengen, which is why Tengen requested Gojo for the mission with Riko. Kenjaku once killed both the Six Eyes and the Star Plasma vessel, only to have both be reborn in time to still complete the merger. Fate bound them to the destiny and Kenjaku couldn’t divert it. The only reason why the cycle broke was because Toji was the one who killed Riko this time. He has no cursed energy. He exists outside of fate and can break its bonds.
In the AUs, everyone said that the Six Eyes and the Ten Shadows were bound by fate, and it had merit. They were always reborn at the same time. They were always in enmity. And they always rivaled each other. While the six eyes and limitless, for example, was always an enormously powerful combination, there’s still discernible differences in the power scaling of the different six eyes, with Gojo Satoru being the strongest of them all.
The power of the reborn Ten Shadows user always seemed to track with the six eyes. They were always each other’s natural rival. And they always ended up in conflict with the other.
But the Ten Shadows was always just harder to pin down from Kenjaku’s point of view. Not in terms of power—in its relationship to fate. The Six Eyes had very discernible bonds, like its bond to Tengen and the Star Plasma Vessel.
But the Ten Shadows only seemed to be bound to the Six Eyes. And it was the natural opposite of the Six Eyes. Whereas the Six Eyes was a suffocating blunt force, the ten shadows was a sleeper hit. You can feel the six eyes bearing down at you if you’re within a mile of it. But you wouldn’t know it if the Ten Shadows was standing behind you until their knife was in your back. Kenjaku legitimately could not tell if it just wasn’t otherwise bound to fate or if he just couldn’t figure out how it was bound. The Six Eyes was a borderline impenetrable obstacle but the ten shadows was a wildcard. He wasn’t sure how it would factor into his plans.
Honestly he thought that kid was just gonna come back when he killed them. He thought it’d be a few years and there’d be some new Zenin brat with those dumb fucking dogs popping up. No one was more surprised than him when fate didn’t immediately force that thing back into the cycle of birth and rebirth. He cannot fucking believe that actually stuck.
His theory was that maybe the ten shadows is legitimately only bound to the six eyes. They’re inverses of each other, after all. Maybe if the six eyes is burdened with fate’s bonds the ten shadows only has a single tether. And maybe that strand of fate got fulfilled when Kenjaku killed the last ten shadows.
The ten shadows exists in enmity with the six eyes. And even if the last six eyes was fully innocent of the murder, no one believed them. The clans were plunged into brutal, bloody round of fighting because of this that frankly has yet to fully end. The Zenin clan have never forgiven or forgotten that the Six Eyes stole the last ten shadows right out from under them. It fuels the interclan rivalry to this day. And Gojo taking in Megumi made it so much worse.
But while Kenjaku doesn’t know the whole story, he has figured out that Megumi must have landed on Gojo’s radar because of Toji.
Toji, who could sever the bonds of fate.
Kenjaku has literally no idea what Megumi can or may do if he gets involved. Before, at least he could rely on the fact that Megumi seemed to be completely unaware of his own potential and unable to properly use it. Now he has no goddamn clue how much of his own power that Megumi’s figured out how to use.
And he doesn’t know if Toji severed the tie between the ten shadows and the six eyes. Are they still in enmity? If you listen to the Zenin’s bitching, Gojo’s just sabotaging Megumi and the answer’s yes. But it’s becoming increasingly less clear if that’s really the case.
Kenjaku’s been fully fucked over by his son getting all moony eyed over the fucking ten shadows. And it’s not like he can just make another vessel for Sukuna getting this one required waiting for the twin that Sukuna ate in the fucking womb to be reborn, possessing his dead wife, fucking him, and pushing out the baby after eleven agonizing hours of labor. Like Kenjaku cannot pick up a new one of these at the store he needs the one he already made
