I'll say one of the people who tried was doing it for their own sake and is angry someone beat them to the punch and is now going after that person for kill stealing

That doesn’t make it ok. In fact that’s worse! There shouldn’t have been more than one person trying to kill him, let alone someone trying to kill that person. Ugh this is all fucked up.

And part of me is glad he’s dead! I am! I’m glad he’s gone and he can’t…he can’t hurt me again. But murder isn’t the answer! It’s a slippery slope if you condone it for one person.

And Shadow hid it from me! How can I trust him now? He knew I wouldn’t approve!

*Shadow glances at the paper and smiles grimly*

Thank you. *He crumples the paper and ignites it with a chaos blast, then turns his attention back to the door as it opens. Sonic emerges looking tearstained and disheveled. Shadow jumps to his feet and reaches out hesitantly*

*Sonic looks like he doesn’t believe that, and shrugs* Not really.

*Sonic shuffles over to the newly constructed bed and flops down on it, pulling the sheets and covers around him into a vague nest shape. He holds a hand out to Shadow, who doesn’t hesitate to take it and allow himself to be pulled in and arranged so Sonic can curl up against his chest and tuck his face under his chin* Just this.

Alright. I promise he will never lay a hand on you again.

*Sonic leans back to look into Shadow’s face, seemingly searching for something. Whatever he finds seems to satisfy him and he leans in to press a kiss to Shadow’s cheek before curling back up. Shadow touches the spot briefly, blushing, before wrapping his arms around Sonic and starting to purr. Sonic’s purr is quieter, but they do match frequencies quickly*
