Not that Laurie minds, presently sidling up beside the leg just so to sit alongside it, the book open in his lap, so that he too has proper view out the window of his room and can watch the day dissolve into evening, then night, until Lanyon says—as he does, always: "You'll see the point of all this later."

And Laurie knows he must be right.

For week two I’m sharing some pictures of Winford Orthapedic Hospital, where Mary Renault worked in the war, and which is likely the modal for the EMS hospital in the book. These came from communities of ex employees and historic England.
