her eyes had been traveling through the great halls , briefly touching the abundance of what a royal wedding was supposed to be like ; before her gaze would return somewhere else . usually , sheโd stay marveling at it for a little longer , bathing in her longing when she imagined the italy that had already faded to become a distant memory in many peoplesโ minds . this time , however, everything had been cut short for the sake of her search for familiarity and for some reason her eyes would always fall on her husband , then aver again somewhere else as if sheโd been caught in the act of something forbidden . certainly, the long, tiring journey must have made her weak , leaving her with a version of herself that now craved for a sweetness she knew would turn bitter as soon as she tasted it . โ it's been a long time but i do remember your wedding attire , people talked more about it than the actual wedding .โ a hint of a laughter stuck in her throat , hindered by the confusion of eliseoโs sudden sentiments . " i didnโt know you were so fond of these doves . i can arrange some to be delivered if you liked them so much . โย the wedding was a blur of memories , a testament of their devotion towards italy rather than each other . โ of course it was, โ a smile was playing on her lips when he mentioned the swans โ even a wedding on an abandoned italian farm wouldโve been more beautiful . the swedes and swiss seem to lack taste as usual , as well as some swans . โ she noted, swinging her glass in circles with a delight that only came with bad mouthing others . โ itโs too bad martina will probably have her wedding in france . or perhaps not considering how things are looking right now .ย โ the thought came with a twisted expression accompanied by a short moment of silence . she refused to think about it for tonight , too often plans have been spoken out loud with an audience present . โ so โฆโย her body shifted with herย stiffness and her throat was almost too dry to speak . โ would you care to dance ? โ she mumbled , clearing her throat awkwardly . โ i think people need to see that italy still remains strong despite the trouble france has caused us . โ she quickly added knowing too well this wasnโt the only reason why she asked.ย

" Do you remember our wedding? " The question came suddenly from where the pair sat at a small table for two, eyes outcast over the festivities, and the wedding party carrying on with much merriment. There was a platter of picked over sweets && treats, finger cakes && bonbons, Eliseo now swirling a glass of wine slowly as his eyes made their way around the room once.. twice over... then landing on Narisa. Though he had come in support of an alliance, it had been hard for his mind not find itself rooted in the past. " Granted, it was far nicer than this, with the outcrop over the Tuscan vineyards... remember the doves? I loved those doves. The swan! " Eliseo shook his head, giving a laugh. If only he'd known then what obsession was going to begin, and consume his life... that his wife was a package deal with her terror birds.
There no swans at the Swiss/Sweden wedding. Eliseo could say a prayer, but refrained. Instead, he tried out a smile on for size. " It feels almost like a lifetime ago now. "

๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ to see Narisa speaking French, especially because she knows how much she detests France, especially right now. Knowing her, she is trying to make a point to Martina. โ He is YOUR family too because you are married to my brother. Unless you plan to divorce Eli and leave us behind and go back to Thailand as you always say. Whether you like it or not, he is your brother-in-law.โ She spits back her words. Why is so hard for her to understand she just wanted Laurie?! In addition, she was willing to handle everything that was about to come, she knew the aftermath would be hard. France wasnโt exactly the way her fiance described, but she wanted to embrace the country (regardless of its looks) if this will be her new home for a long time. Besides, you canโt judge a book by its cover. It may look bad now but who knows, there is a solution to the problems of the current situation?! โ I told you I millionth or trillionth of times I said it in the heat of the moment, I didnโt MEAN it, for mean it. Itโs not my fault if you use your selective ears to ignore my apologies. I did my part. You did yours, which is ignoring me. So, donโt act like I havenโt done anything to make me feel bad.โ She reasoning her. Upon her next words, she was surprised that she was grateful for her actions. The Italian princess had to hold her eye-rolls at the way she refers to her fiancรฉ. โ Which was the best reward ever. โ She added quickly. โ A marriage that CLEARLY does not have a future. You may underestimate me now, like you always did but deep down you know I will prove I was right. And perhaps, the next time we shall have a conversation from a queen to a queen.โ Once more those words escaped from her mouth that is often used as a threat, but this time was a promise. In her head, the Italian queen will be relieved not to have her around. The marriage in question she referred to was the Dutch prince (the one that clearly wouldnโt work).
It was the very first time Martina sees Narisa having another reaction, other than her icy stare and stoic reaction. She was shocked that she admitted she was jealous. She hated when she points as if she didnโt care about her Italy. Just because she doesnโt know how to show her love of Italy, like Eli doesnโt mean she doesnโt love her country, oh well, now her words get into her heart. Martina was having an existential crisis, what is it this โloveโ for Italy? She doesnโt feel like full Italian, like the rest of her brothers, but also she knew she wonโt be French enough for these people. This is the part that scares hers. โ I didnโt betray Italy. โ She had to defend herself. Grey-bluish hues locked into her brown one, noticing the avoidance of eye contact. Martina still wanted her ring and she hated how much Narisa acted like she wasnโt aware of what she was doing. โ I am NOT threatening. โ She explained. โ I was trying to make you put yourself in my place. Have a little empathy. Well then, I guess I am wasting your and mine time. โ She was about to leave, but her words made her stop to move further, turning to her once more. โ Thatโs a lie! You took everything from me, the only thing you couldnโt take from me the more you tried is love. I accepted you as a family member, I admired you. I liked to learn more about you, your family, and your life in Thailand. Even your religion.โ ย The Italian blonde only knew the basics, everything Narisa was willing to share without judging her. โ I even learned Thai poetry like 'เนเธเธตเนเธขเนเธญเนเธขโโ (shit)ย โ The blonde recites the title of the poem. (Martina thought it was a poem, but actually was bad words). The princess looked down for a bit, before glancing up at the swans on the lake. She was about to leave again, getting frustrated with never knowing how to approach the queen or having the 'bondโ like a family. The advice caught her off guard. โ Iโm not Italian, Iโm not French. I donโt know who am I anymore. โ She starts. Her next words are very unexpected. Martina intends to have a full conversation with her mother later. Upon her warning, the Italian blonde decided to postpone it. She wanted to ask about the guards, that she is taking them with her. But better to wait when they get to Portugal. โAhh, wellโฆ I read a book very interesting. I thought you may like it. Iโll put on your carriage. โ White little lies, wouldnโt hurt anyone. It wasnโt that she is lyingโฆ She was omitting facts.
โ oh please, soon youโll find yourself saying the same and missing your home will suddenly be used as a weapon against you .โ as much as arguing with martina had become an unfortunate habit , the frustration always robbed her off her ability to think straight . only a second ago, sheโd been enjoying her novel, her eyes stuck on the pages of cheesy lines instead of acknowledging that sheโd been right and that that realization barely gave her any satisfaction as they were now stuck with a country which might leech off them very soon . โ why should he be ? the only thing he did was taking you away from -โ her . he did take her away from her and somehow turned them against each other . โ your country and not even offering you a better one . france will be in shambles soon and your short-lived love will not fix it . โย she didnโt trust the dauphin and if she wasnโt too occupied caring about what their alliance with france meant sheโd have found herself worrying about martina instead , thrown into a country that did not even granted her the mercy to adjust to it . โ do you think an apology would fix it ? what will you do if you commit a mistake as franceโs queen ? apologize to the people or sing them a serenade . perhaps i should try it as well and maybe italy will be blessed with golden rain .โ she sighed , disguising her advice as a scolding . after that conversation, she probably wonโt see her again.ย at least sheโd try not to . soon, martina will forget her and their quarrels and eventually their good memories will be overshadowed by their last conversation. perhaps , theyโll see eye to eye with each other soon , both sharing the same title but that would be it.ย
โ you did by disobeying my orders . by selfishly choosing your own needs over that of your country . love is no excuse , in fact, itโd be the most foolish one .โ her gaze remained locked with hers , awaiting an answer narisa knew sheโd never be satisfied with . yet, as she continued to look at her , the anger sheโd tried to hard to hold onto almost slipped away and it was only in that feeble moment of time that when martina was about to leaveย she could gather the empathy sheโd long abandoned . โ your ring , i think elias might have it , so do not bother me about it anymore . it is him you should disturb with serenades and speeches about empathy . although iโd advise you not to make it too obvious to care about what or whom you care about . โ she shrugged , barely given any time to prepare what martina was about to tell her . all this time sheโd thought that she despised her and that their time spent together had been without value . only now , she realized that it was only her she ever really shared parts of her culture with . around martina, she didnโt need to pretend that sheโd completely abandoned her home , perhaps because she knew that one day martina would share the same fate as hers . she didnโt know what to say , neither did she know if martina was telling her the truth and if she chose toย believe itโd only mean to let go off her again . โ and i do not wish to hear that poem as iโve already been insulted enough by you .โ she shook her head with irritiation , wondering where martina had found that poem which was apparently meant to fix their relationship . all she needed was for her to finally go , she was exhausted , not only from the journey but having to pretend that she did not care about her at all . โ after calling me an intruder i think you shouldnโt wonder about who you are .โ her gaze still didnโt meet hers , watching her swans in a feigned nonchalance . her worries werenโt foreign to her own and once she wondered the same .ย fearing that her new home would only ever see her as an extension instead of a part of it . โ you are always going to be italian why should you even bother with such unnecessary thoughts . i am not sure what they said to you but youโll always have your family to return to .โ her words caught her off guard . after risking so much , narisa had thought she was so sure of what she was doing and what it meant to leave your country behind . getting adjusted to a loneliness only people like them would know . โ what is that book about ? because i do not think we share the same taste in books . you can take it back , i donโt need it .โ

many times the world felt like it was crumbling , the first time she was hiding from her father , the first time when she realized that she could never protect her siblings the way she wanted to and the first time sheโd to leave her home .ย but despite of this , it was only crumbling, slow enough that she could bear it , come up with anything that would fix it . this time the world was falling apart and she didnโt know how she could prevent it from doing so . she only had two arms which she needed to wrap around her brother . helplessly waiting for a reaction when she was only seeing his back . and when sobs escaped himย they were children again , so suddenly with no one knowing what they were supposed to do.ย
โ i am sorry .โ there wasnโt much she could say , nor was she ever taught what to do with an unbearing sadness she couldnโt name . she was weak , too weak to hold her brother when he crumbled, fell to the ground on his knees when she watched tears staining the ground . what was one supposed to do with the realization that theyโve broken a person , when it was a lie that did it . but wasnโt the truth even crueler ? โ you have me ,โ she sat down beside him and even now he suddenly looked so small and the realization broke her . heโd forever remain her younger brother , the child she swore to protect and failed so miserably to do so. โ you donโt need her . she doesnโt deserve you . โ she knew her words probably wouldnโt reach him but she wouldnโt tell him that heโll get over it , scold him like their father always did . โ i promise you iโll always remain by your side . it is us against the world .โ yet when she muttered those words she couldnโt help but wonder who would break that promise first .
and so she promised to tell him. again, as she'd done before, but this time she had no reason to not go through with it. she couldn't run, hide, pretend to fall asleep. adi braced himself, and the short break between her promise and then going through with it felt like an eternity but he would wait. finally, she would tell him. and then she did. and everything seemed to stop. he'd always wondered, always searched for answers, no matter if they were good or bad he'd felt as though they would still the constant and desperate ache within him. he'd always felt like he would be able to deal with whatever he found out, that he would be able to cross the bridge when he got there. now he was there, and all there was before him was a rushing river.
the ability to breathe left his body as if it had somewhere more important to be, he could have sworn his hands went numb. it seems she doesn't want anything to do with you. somewhere within this lied tragic irony. he'd survived so much despite being raised so ruthlessly. violent hands had moulded him yet he'd never let it break him. so, yes. it was ironic, was it not? how it were words that ended him, at last.
he turned his head away, couldn't look at his sister any longer. this wasn't her fault, she was merely the messenger. and he tried to remember as much as his eyes started burning with tears that he would rather die than let fall, what with how they were caused by someone who didn't want him. he forced a smile - it was bitter, really - and nodded. cleared his throat in trying to rid himself of the lump in it. it didn't work. he wanted to run away, but then, where would he go? home? he didn't have one. he only had his sister.
and all of a sudden he was no longer just angry at narisa, their father, his mother who didn't want him; he was also angry at himself. for believing and hoping for so long that his mother was out there searching for him as rigorously as he searched for her, and that she'd realised her mistake in giving him up and wanted to right her wrong as desperately as he needed her in her life. and for how once the first tear ran down his cheek he could no longer keep it together - he shattered. never before had he hated himself as furiously as he did in this moment. he brought both hands up to his face to wipe his tears, movement thoroughly laced with furious irritation, and suddenly he could no longer stand. his knees wouldn't hold him up, so down to the ground he went. he found himself with his elbows on his knees, hiding his face in his hands. hiding how his jaw trembled as he gasped for air. it did not even matter to him that he was not in private, if someone were to see him in this state; because he was dying, and who in their right mind would judge a man as he took his last breath?
#(( ending this here bc we have a new thread ? <3 also bc it was the travelling thread hehe ))#(( i'm sad rip ))#(( narisa doesn't know how to comfort ppl rip i'm sorry adi your mother surely would've been good at it dsjjdsj ))#* ๐๐ก โ interactions .#thread 002 : adisorn .#no proofreading bc i'm in my feels

โฐ it'd been a while since she saw the polish queen and how she'd wished that a while would stretch into infinity , allowing her to forget that her country attended the summit as well . yet, it appeared that she was actively seeking her and if narisa didn't know better she'd have thought lena had a crush on her and that's why she always seemed to approach her, despite her blatant act of ignoring her presence . " dear ? " she raised a brow , her stomach twisting with disgust when she heard a term of endearment spoken by a stranger . " i must admit you have a sharp eye , i assume the polish curse has not robbed you of the ability to see . " narisa noted, swinging her glass in circles . โ i might wear it again to another mourning ball , in case a certain king decides to poison another king . wouldn't it be quite amusing ? having a special dress for whenever someone dies of poisoning ? i am sure you must have many of these or at least plan to purchase them in the future . โ
๐๐! ๐๐๐'๐ that Italian queen? Narisa alwaysโฆ Unpleasant. โ Hello dear. The night is lovely, isn't it?! โ The Polish queen started a small talk with that queen. โ I think I saw this dress before. Isn't the one you wore at the Mourning Ball in Switzerland? โ She held the chalice in hand.

โ you obviously had better days , you look exhausted and i doubt it is only judyta keeping you awake . โ there were certain things only time could teach you about a person . sheโd known lena the day she was born , small hands reaching for even tinier ones when she held her cousin in her arms . then lena grew taller , older and she was walking besides her, yet elsaโs hand would always remain wrapped around tightly hers . they grew up together, shared their worries , their past , presence and future . and now they were even closer,ย no distance that would allow the change in her cousin to be hidden . โ you havenโt been acting like yourself and i need you to tell me what worries you . it pains me to see you like this . you know iโm always here for you . โ she squeezed her cousinโs hand , โ i know being a mother is difficult , so is being a wife to a king .โ her eyes searched for hers , attempting to find any hint that would reveal her heart . โ is marius not treating you well ? โ
๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ stay alone. In fact, she was waiting for her husband entering on the carriage. Judyta was in her arms now, she fell asleep after feeding. When Elsa came, she was putting her almost two-month daughter, inside of the basket, gingerly covering her, slowly shaking her body, making sure she was asleep. She sighs in relief and adjusts her posture observing her cousin sitting across from her.
She was exhausted, some nights are really hard to sleep. Judyta has bad days when she cries all night and didn't let her sleep, despite Marius being a good father and helping her. โ I had better days. Talk about what? โ She wondered what is it Elsa wanted to say. She noticed her cousin was avoiding her, and during this time she learned the truth of what her husband did, and she got 'depressed', also adjusting to maternity was stressful for her.

โOf course it matters, you are a Queen you cannot risk becoming ill.โ Mila said softly before smiling. She could not help but lean into the tender touch her little sister offered her and she closed her eyes for a moment. The touch was so foreign to what she was used to when she was ill. She was more often the carer that even when she fell ill she would have to deal with it herself.
โIโm fine, Iโll be fine. Are the children okay? Do you need me to come out?โ

โ and youโre the governess of the crown prince and therefore cannot be replaced . โ the softness in her voice had turned stern , knowing that it was probably the only way mila would agree to have her take care of her . sheโd hoped that time wouldโve erased her doubt a long time ago but guilt still lingered in the air whenever she tried to offer her help . maybe , mila still didnโt trust her , thatโs why she refused her help . โ you are not fine , mila .ย your forehead is burning .โ she was used to taking care of the sick whether it were her family or strangers . yet, the thought of someone close to her being unwell always left an uncomfortable feeling in the pit of her stomach . โ the children are well , you do not need to worry about them .โ she assured her with a smile , droplets of water dripping on her dress when she dipped the cloth into cold water and placed it on her forehead . โ you should rest and try to sleep . โ

the feeling of home washed over her anxious mind , the warm breeze pulling the corners of her mouth to a hopeful smile . her initial reaction still lingered within her heart , the anxiety weighing on her when she watched the blue ocean swallowing the sky . would they end up the same ? being devoured by the presence of royalty or worst pick apart until there would only be doubt that was left . her anxiety only glimpsed through a moment and she felt herself clenching her fist with her nails digging into her palm . yet , when she saw sebastianโs smile , the tension escaped her body and only the thought of wanting to preserve it , never allowing anything to rob it , remained. โ itโs beautiful as ever . our people must have waited for their king . โ she said , her gaze lingering at him before it returned to the scenery in front of them . โ i am glad weโre finally home and i hope our guests will also treat it as theirs .ย โ she sighed . โ if not , i am afraid i must send the goat youโve brought with you to teach them a lesson . โ

"This is what I've missed." Sebastian smiled to himself as he looked out over the ocean. The ships docked, their flags flying against the blue sky and blue sea. This was his home, this was where he loved to be more than anything. "Seeing things alive again, that is something that makes live worth living." The plague had shut down so much, and it was still trying to get back to normal.

broken alliances and betrothals werenโt something a queen of a struggling nation should get used to , particularly at times when one so desparately needed them . perhaps, if she still wasnโt so dreadfully exhausted from the trip, sheโd have taken it less personal , attempting to conceal her anger about the situation with her usual unwavering facade . instead , she found herself complaining like a child, seemingly unaware that not everything was meant to serve oneself . still, it was irisia she was talking to and despite her belief that it was only her state that fed her irrationality , she felt at ease around her longtime friend . so much that she didnโt mind blaming her husband for that unfortunate outcome of events . โ tell me , why did you marry that man again ? it certainly cannot be because of his brilliant mind or competence . โ
