A Landscape in the Unpredictable World of Fashion Through the Legacy of Sarah Mower and Sara Kozlowski
Fashion is an endless cycle and a rapidly changing industry. With its many realms, it is essential to understand and be prepared to keep up with the high standards the industry sets every day. It represents a hard-working career that challenges students’ creativity to overcome what’s already on display. For this reason, the Academy of Art University invited Sarah Mower, Chief Critic for Vogue.com, and Sara Kozlowski, Director of Education and Professional Development for the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) to a discussion last Friday, May 5th. Guided by Simon Ungless, Executive Director of the School of Fashion, all the fashion students were invited to learn about career preparedness and the necessary skills to prevail in this tough industry.
The million-dollar question is: Why fashion? For Vogue Critic Sarah Mower, it all started when she was young, drawing sketches from couture shows and looking through fashion magazines. Still the cherry on top came when she was a finalist in a competition for designers at Vogue magazine, never expecting what was going to happen next and what a fashion influencer she was going to become. On the other hand, for Sara Kozlowski, it was all about giving back. She looked at fashion as a way of communicating and speaking a new language, and that’s how she ended up becoming a full-time design educator for 11 years.
The fashion industry it’s not only synonyms of glam and money, according to Sarah Mower fashion is a reflection of society and what individuals think. At some point throughout her career she realized the big number of talented young designers that existed particularly in London that couldn’t support themselves or exploit their talent and that motivated her on wanting to contribute somehow.
Fashion is universal and when discussing the similarities between students from different locations the common denominator was that our generation is one step ahead and has fresh and unconventional ideas. According to Sarah Kozlowski the fashion system is in a point of change and thinking differently in terms of materials and processes is crucial when trying to develop a distinctive fashion aesthetic. The secret relies on disrupting things instead of doing them traditionally because at the end of the day that adds value. Further into the discussion Sarah Mower highlighted how the ability of doing something with your own hands is different and why that’s something the world can get from fashion.
‘Designing ideas is as much as designing things’, said Kozlowski, she explained the importance of material innovation and at the same time Mower emphasized that there’s always a need and there’s has to be a reason for people wanting to buy clothes.
Macro environmental factors like recessions and global situations influence the direction fashion takes and that’s why Mower pointed out how you have to trust your own resourcefulness and value the importance of networking. Education is not only about knowledge and developing a particular talent it also has to do with the fact that it gives you so much strength in people you get to know and the community you build.
Surviving in this industry is essential and aside from internships Chief critic for Vogue.com explained how fashion is far more personal than anybody would believe and that a personal touch is always necessary and extremely important that’s why she highlights the importance and relevance of personal letters. ‘People are everything and that one conversation can open a door’, said the Director of Education for the CFDA. The truth is it is all about being persistent in a polite way and creating a strong network.
One of the biggest lessons we can learn is that fashion is not a job, but a life. In terms of intellectual property it is important to realize how to manage the development of your work on social media platforms to make sure your work is safe and that you’re only providing a sneak peek of what your work is going to look like instead of giving away too much information. Executive Director Simon Ungless mentioned the importance of keeping a good social media image because that’s one of the first things companies look for when you’re applying for a job. Everything in relies on the fact the social media is a reflection of who we are and we as students need to be sure if that’s the image we want to portray even from a corporate perspective.
As unpredictable as fashion is, it is necessary to be prepared for different scenarios and specific skills that would be demanded at certain jobs; moreover, it is important to understand how to survive in this industry and that nobody is born successful. Being sure of what you want and your vision in life is a huge step already and that is the beginning of your creative path.

Badass Style in a Badass Mom
Moms are not only known for their ability to spend too much money at Target or drinking too much wine, but also for hiding from their kids in the nearest closet. During that 5-minute break, some moms rely on their outfits and stylish combinations to bring out their badass personalities. Here is to the moms that can be sweet and badass at the same time, especially when it comes to defending their jobs and their kids. Check out these three characters in films and TV that embrace quirky personalities with a unique sense of style.
#1. Leigh Anne Tuohy, “The Blind Side”
The rules of fair play do not apply in love and war, especially when it comes to a child. A mother is not defined as the woman who shares a blood connection with her child, but rather a woman who extends her hand and time to help no matter what and puts her child as the number one priority. This character is a heroine with a lack of superpowers that posses the biggest one of all: being kind-hearted. Inspiring from every angle, a woman that fights for her beliefs and the potential in a kid nobody ever saw. A future she created in her mind in which she saw a man becoming something much bigger than just homeless or a person who lacked a sense of direction, she stood up for one of the most essential things every child has a right to, which is love and protection. She saw a gifted child rather than a rejected one just because he was born under miserable conditions with an addicted mom.

Leigh Anne Tuohy, played by Sandra Bullock in The Blind Side, had no time for nonsense when adopting a child who was living on the streets and was completely lost. Opinionated and headstrong, she conveys a distinct personality with determination and fierce even in her wardrobe. From expensive red satin stilettos that match the strong will that makes her extremely self-assured to a reptile print skirt in taupe leather and a pink satin trench-style jacket with self-belt, she proves she stands out not just in her character but also in her style. A total match when combining a pair of chestnut leather gloves with a long-sleeved lightweight knit V-neck top. A classic but trendsetting wardrobe with contemporary items such as a cream fabric metal belt and gold accessories that achieve outfit combinations with an up-to-the-minute sense of style. A character with a sense of purpose and willingness to see her son succeed to become a star NFL player. The outcome? A balanced wardrobe with a badass attitude.
#2. Miranda Priestly, “The Devil Wears Prada”

If you’re going to burn in hell at least do it in a dashing and an over the top outfit that resembles the fashion leader you were in another life. Terrifyingly well-dressed Miranda Priestly, played by Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada, is the epitome of elegance and good taste. As decisive as she is stunning in her everyday ensembles, she conveys unconventionally conveys fear. A mother of twins that makes possible the impossible, including getting a copy of an unpublished Harry Potter manuscript, she speaks her mind like no other and demands from her employees what she expects from herself. High standards in clothing that include office look from power suits to a collection of coats anyone could easily hide in. She rocked an off-shoulder sweater in an executive mood successfully, not forgetting how classic has never looked so sophisticated.

Adored, honored but most of all feared, she devoted her life to the fashion realm and it was definitely not by being easygoing. Nothing speaks more demanding than a gold beaded jacket matched with gold chains. A work tyrant in a snakeskin jacket that maintains the upper hand no matter the cost. A clear example that age means nothing, especially when it comes to fur and pinstriped ensembles. Daring with a low cut blouse under a pinstriped jacket, she makes a statement just by adding a final touch with a scarf. Her endless parade of long and glamorous coats showcase that even with a white hair a simple but astonishing bold purple dress does the work. She always knows how to keep things interesting not only with her driven and cutthroat personality but by adding to that a layered crisp white button down with a black pant suit and a perfectly tailored white trench. Not even the devil can beat that!
#3. Cookie, “Empire”
An empire of clothes and not just of music, but mainly a mother that seeks to win the empire over their sons hearts with a non-conventional sense of style. Even though her name is cookie, she is anything but sweet. Bold-faced and unapologetic she reserves her sensitive moments for the three boys she did not have the opportunity to raise as a consequence of spending 20 years in jail. Her independence and her hunger are towards winning back a family that doesn’t know her and a company she started. Vulnerable in many aspects of her life, especially when it comes to her son Jamal reveals a human side. Sensitive in her heart as a mother but definitely not in her wardrobe, if there are three wardrobes that describe her sense of style these are: brash, loud and defiant. There is no oversized coat too big or animal print too loud to scream her name. There’s no occasion too low-key for an animal print fur coat, gold accessories or knee-high snakeskin boots. Her life is surrounded by music and she knows damn well how to play her notes. It is never too much to mix a leopard print hat with a colorful dress and a purse especially when you walk with confidence and attitude.

A woman that doesn’t keep up with society standards but rather embrace her hot mess personality. Unafraid to speak her mind, she loves to make a scene and what better way than with a gold Versace suit and a matching gold phone case. Living unapologetically is her mantra and being radical is her essence, she proves to be a character that proves to be committed to herself and no one else. A glamorous mother in every meaning of the word, mean by nature but delightful by choice Cookie Lyon is a runway on heels that just like a magenta fur infinity scarf or oversized sunglasses she would always be the cherry on top.
Motherhood doesn’t mean yoga pants, messy buns or mugs filled with coffee. Each mother redefines the meaning of style according to their personality and these TV characters are definitely not the exception. Mothers that combine personality with a style that screams how badass they can be sending a clear warning: Don’t mess with them. For more insight on stylish jaw-dropping characters that highlight a distinctive sense of style. Follow @poshtvblog Happy Mother’s Day to all the badass moms!

How To Organize Your Wardrobe Like a Hollywood Star
“I don’t have anything to wear” vs “Oh, I didn’t even know I had this” are two of the biggest dilemmas every person can relate to. I was in the “I didn’t even know I had this” stage when I found my oversized waffle knit hoodie sweater, which I haven’t seen for around 4 months. Even if my wardrobe looks like Cher’s in Clueless with tons of clothes in a variety of colors and prints, the real struggle relies on how everything is messy and all over the place. When time is not your forte, the key is finding out a successful way to achieve easy access to your closet in the fastest way.
Follow these 8 lifesaver steps to help you create a more visually appealing and organized wardrobe that would save you time and money!
#1. Cleaning

Photo source: House Of Fraser Blog
The first step is cleaning; it is crucial to develop an atmosphere that creates order and harmony within the wardrobe. Make sure to remove all of your clothes from your closet from hangers and drawers. Fold them on your floor or bed, and don’t forget your shoes and accessories as well!
#2. Decide what you really need

After you’ve finished the cleaning, remember it is important to decide the stuff you really want to keep. For this you need to divide your clothes into three different groups:
Clothes that needs to be fixed or modified
Clothes that you don’t use or need anymore. You can sell or donate
Clothes you use every day or almost every day and you want to keep
My personal recommendation would be to take into account the use you give to each garment. For instance, clothes that we love but we don’t use maybe because we don’t know how to combine it with other garments or because there’s something that needs to be fixed. Think for a second about the real value and don’t just store clothes for any reason. Be sure to keep it pretty straightforward.
#3. Try on your clothes
Once you are done deciding what clothes goes into each section, the next step is to try them on. That pretty much sounds like a Hollywood thing, but the truth is, it is essential to try on your own clothes. The goal is to find variations within different garments and give more use to the things you already have. Looking at yourself in a mirror can provide a new sense of angle and perspective and can be somehow inspirational when trying to come up with new outfits. Another function of the test is to decide which garments need an update on the length, cut or fit. It is ideal to do this test every season or at least 2 times a year. Go on and start with your ultimate improvised runway!
#4. Put everything back in your closet
youtube
Video by: Howdini
After that, put all the clothes back, hang them up and organize them. Distribution is really important, it is crucial that you study the whole space first and add drawers if necessary. Make sure to hang your jeans first on either the left or right side of your wardrobe, and it would be better if you go from dark jeans to light ones, so they are easier to visualize. Different aspects like what type of garments they are, formal/informal, and light or dark clothes can classify the division of garments. For instance, you can separate tank tops, shirts, pants, skirts and dresses and order your clothes in a certain way based on colors. Tip: Hang away heavy garments from light and delicate ones so that they don’t wrinkle them. For shirts and dresses use non-slip hangers.

Learn the distribution of what to hang and fold so it’s easier to find exactly what you need.

#5. Underwear distribution

The next step is to focus on underwear. Panties are folded in three and stored, preferably in small boxes. Bras are stored with one cup inside another so it doesn’t loose its shape.
#6. Organize your shoes

Then, you need to organize your shoes. Shoes can take up a lot of space, so make sure you store them in the most efficient way. The easiest way is to organize them by type. Separate sandals, boots and dress shoes. If you have a shoe shelve that’s even better you just need to organize them in a way that works best for you. Another option is to keep shoes in boxes if you have a lot of space. I personally recommend to place a photo of the shoes in the front area of the box to visualize what’s in it and not waste time looking for a specific pair of shoes. If you don’t have that much space in your closet or you have a front hall closet, don’t worry! Consider getting a hanging shoe rack instead, that also saves space and it’s easy to visualize as well or I would advise to put the shoes you usually wear there to save space in your closet. You can even bend some wires hangers to hang your flats and sandals. Think about what works best for you and your daily routine.
#7. Organize your accessories

Now it’s time for accessories! After you finish with your shoes go on and put part of your accessories in boxes to protect them against moisture and dust except for long necklaces or chains. I recommend having a hanger for these types of accessories and belts.
#8. Organize purses and wallets

Last, but not least, store purses and wallets in special places properly packed in covers. They can be located in a small space within your wardrobe. On the other hand, you can apply the ‘smallest to biggest effect’ where you keep one purse inside the other. For instance, clutches in purses and purses in handbags.
This process requires time and dedication but mostly just make it fun! Organize your wardrobe in a way that’s visually appealing to you so you don’t want to mess it up. After you get this whole process done I can assure you it would make your life much easier. It’s all about finding strategic ways to make it similar to a shopping experience, once you start browsing around you suddenly can’t stop. Treat your closet like the innovative space it is.

De Young Museum’s ‘Summer of Love Experience’ Revives a Citywide Counterculture Celebration

The line to get in was not so long and walking down the entrance the black and white walls were filled with messages such as “Make love not war, is not a chuckle but a serious thing indeed” said by Ralph J Gleason, music columnist for the San Francisco chronicle in 1967. At the end of the road, there was a short description preparing the viewers for what they were about to face: A counterculture developed in San Francisco in the 60’s that was as much as an artistic movement as a political one. Something that initiated in the San Francisco Golden Gate Park and Haight-Ashbury district, where about 100,000 people (artists, designers, poets, musicians, and performers) arrived from around the country, drawn by their passion and love for vibrant music and seeking like-minded individuals.
The Summer of Love Experience: Art, Fashion and Rock & Roll is a thrilling and inspiring exhibition at the De Young Museum from April 8 to August 20, based on the colorful event that happened in the summer of 1967 in San Francisco. The exhibition features iconic rock posters, photographs, interactive music, light shows, costumes and textiles, and films. It commemorates a social and aesthetic movement; moreover, it celebrates an ideology and a particular way of thinking that marked a specific period of time in the cultural, commercial, and financial city of San Francisco. Overwhelming from every angle not just because of the importance of the time period but because anyone can explore San Francisco from a different approach.

A small screen was the main point of attention in one of the various galleries, because it was filled with vibrant visuals that created numerous undetermined forms that didn’t make any sense at all but resemble a deep and important meaning behind it. It was all about creativity to achieve a contagious and rebellious ideology that incentivizes people to take consciousness about their reality, especially because the city succumbed during many years to an unorthodox way of life and thinking.
As a way to evoke the feeling and vibe of the actual summer experience, the majority of galleries in the exhibition achieve a ‘flowy’ mood through the dark lighting. It’s able to transport the viewer into the relaxed environment people went through, for example, when they attended the ‘trips festival’. A crucial event that was held for three nights in the 90’s, which featured slide shows, film projections, electronic sounds, dance companies, and even LSD. Viewers are able to experience all this by being surrounded by a variety of posters, the most famous ones were of Wes Wilson, with visual optics that provided in specific details all the information about the festivals, including what was held each day, the locations, price tickets and even a dress code.

Who said this kind of ‘hippie’ style couldn’t be incorporated to Avant-Garde and high fashion? As I mentioned before it was all about being creative in an over the top level. Costume designers such as Jeanne Rose experimented a new type of fashion thanks to the introduction of free-flowing clothes and natural fibers. Almost every room in the exhibition includes a variety of designs demonstrating the importance of fashion and its many elements. No matter the style, the looks included a range of techniques and materials achieving astonishing looks. For instance, you are able to see a casual approach in dresses that were made with printed cotton plain weave muslin and lace insertions and a more high fashion angle in a dress made out of silk net with glass bugle bead and sequin embroidery. Honestly, that one was my favorite because it actually was a top used as a dress. On the other hand, it would be a sin not to mention the crocheted wool wedding dress. It was simply from another planet.

Fashion proved not only to be an aesthetic that was supposed to be attractive or to just attend the human need to be covered. From my perspective, it resembled an ideology and represented controversial situations that were happening during that time and people wanted to speak their mind about it. Along your journey, you would discover key items that turn the word ‘fashion’ into something else. From a comical approach the ‘Watergate’ oversized jeans alludes to the period of the iconic scandal of president Nixon. The jeans were appliquéd in patriot red, white and blue stars-and-stripes fabrics.

Have you ever imagined being surrounded by an unbelievable number of 60’s rock posters in a relatively small space? Can be described by the most colorful experience of my life. Prepare to live a ‘Poster Shop’ experience. The posters were a mixture of color, stylized lettering, imagery and, on occasion, “trippy” graphics. Instantly eye-catching I think this was the success behind the whole advertising purpose of it, there was no way to miss it. The posters advertised upcoming concerts and music venues. On the other hand, music promoters such as Bill Graham and Chet Helms were mentioned and their main purpose was to reach as much audience as possible. Messages in different forms that are sometimes hard to read, facial expressions, faces, skulls, colorful shadows, castles, music items and sort of cartoons are some of the things I perceived. You can experience the illusion of animation because of the vibrancy of the colors and the way the imagery is displayed. Hard to read? Yes. Hard to understand? Sometimes. However once you start reading one, you can’t stop.

The real question is though, how is this amazing work done? There is a section dedicated to the process from the beginning till the end of how this artistic work is created. Viewers are able to discover great minds such as William Henry and Victor Moscoso. Their work is displayed starting with the original drawing to the final result and the viewer is able to understand not only through images but also through a video the complexity and long process a design goes through. For instance, just to give a hint the importance of color can go from (CMYK) or can be chosen from a wide variety of specialized colors produced by ink manufactures. The designers use different techniques and elements to achieve a particular print. This is mainly because the design was showed to an offset tradesman to clarify in how it should be printed. Overlapping tracing paper in the original work, for instance, was a way to communicate particular instructions. It is easier to understand the difficulties of the process when every element in a poster has a key role.

In order to have a complete insight you must live the real psychedelic light show experience. In one of the rooms, people are able to see the disparate and abstract images in bright colors that through movement cause unanticipated effects. It’s all about lying down and feeling the mood, being transported back in time and being absorbed into the show by the images that give the sensation are coming directly to us. Color liquids and blurry images are what I mostly perceived; however, the challenge is in trying to discover the significance of each apparition that changes within seconds into different collages. Prepare to be confused and puzzled.
The music plays a large role in creating an immersive experience for the audience. The music is in charge to convey the mood mainly because music stimulates people’s minds. On any night given the scene at the ballrooms were electric. Throughout the exhibit you are surrounded by bits and pieces of sounds that take you back to the 60′s environment including artists such as Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane who started what became known as the “San Francisco Sound”.
From a particular view, it was enthralling to evaluate the creative side of San Francisco that has preserved its influenced until now. From fashion, music an art everyone is able to understand the importance of the ‘Summer of Love Experience’ and also the connection it develops with macro-environmental factors in the city such as political and cultural. It would be a loss to miss such a fulfilling experience that not only feeds our minds with knowledge but it open our eyes to a new reality that explains and reflects in a way the nucleus of this city. It is highly recommended!

SF Film Festival: 3 Films Based On Inspirational Stories
Films are often a channel to a whole new reality. It can be either fictional or based on real-life events; the success of it comes when the viewer can develop a meaningful bond with the story because then it comes somewhat significant. For me, is all about emotions even if it’s a laugh, a tear or a shiver down my spine because it evokes a reaction from me. That is precious, since watching a movie is all about freeing your mind for an hour or so and just focusing on what is truly in front of you. Films are also a way of making statements or letting the world know unbelievable breathtaking stories that either involve a constant struggle to look for justice, be accepted, or to prove that something like being extremely poor is not a reason to die. Stories that make your heart feel like is beating too hard or too fast, skipping a beat, or even fluttering because at the end of the day, the truth can be far more coercive than fiction and not necessarily in a good way.
The San Francisco Film Festival that started on April 5th and concluded on April 19th has been offering a varied range of films for every taste, but especially stories that leave you hanging, thinking, shocked, or at the edge of your seat. Below are 3 selections that overcome the expected to achieve the unexpected and prove the world that when there’s a will there’s a way.
#1. This Is Everything: Gigi Gorgeous
The true meaning behind the word ‘identity’ and the challenges to unravel it. Two-time Oscar-winner Barbara Kopple reports the astonishing journey of trans social media superstar Gigi Gorgeous. The journey explores the personal evolution from Gregory to Gigi starting by making this ultimate revelation after his mother’s dead. The world witnesses her transition through an intimate step by step glimpse along with the importance of Gigi’s father David unwavering love when being part of the many procedures she went through. Expected to be emotionally charged and captivated.

#2. Bending The Arc
A team of young people who give the word ‘superheroe’ a new meaning and not in a 'thor’ or ‘iron man’ kind of way. This film symbolizes a triumph in the medical universe in the hands of people who may lack superpowers but evoke something stronger than that and is passion in their belief that health care should be accessed to everyone no matter their condition. Paul Farmer, Jim Yong Kim and Ophelia’s Dahl charitable work over 30 years ago started up a health care movement that overcome obstacles such as poverty and an unstable government. A touching film with a realistic scenario.

#3. Defender
A fight for true and justice. The documentary features San Francisco Public Defender Jeff Adachi as he and his team take on the high-profile case of Michael Smith. The controversial case of a man who pleads not guilty after he is charged with nine counts of resisting arrest and pulled off a BART in an aggresive and inexplicable way. The need for social justice that proves to be bigger than any job in order to achieve a greater good. Be faced with a new angle of reality.

How Hulu Saved My Life
‘It’s over!’ I screamed and turn my back and reach for the door. I refused to cry in front of him. He didn’t deserve a thing of me. ‘Please just listen to me,’ he begged.
I sucked in a breath and fought to calm my growing anxiety. “Never again. You will never see, touch, or speak to me again. You no longer exist.”
How could I have been so damn stupid? The sight of my now ‘ex-boyfriend’ having sex with one of my friends would be forever etched into my mind. Everyone warned me that this was going to blow up in my face, but I didn’t listen. I was stubborn and way to committed into this relationship. But if there’s something I knew I would regret for the rest of my life if I didn’t do it was to knee him in the balls. So I did. By his pained expression I knew I’d done a good job.
Two months later and even though I feel better the agony is still there. The best moments for me are when I’m not alone because if not I start to remember so why did I do? I start to rely a lot on people, which sometimes is not the best option.
I met a guy through a friend and that was exactly what I needed. I started to feel better. I started to heal. Especially because it was a nice distraction for me. Then one day I realized it is better not to expect anything from anyone. We set a date and time to meet and when the day come he never texted back, I texted him and got absolutely nothing. The worst part was that I never heard back from him at all, not even an ‘I’m sorry’ or even a lame excuse, I mean it’s not that hard to lie.
‘Everything happens for a reason’ my friend said. I truly wanted to believe that but I was in a tornado of embarrassment, frustration, and disappointment. The next few weeks I immersed myself in wine, calories and a lot of ice cream. And to be honest it was not so bad. Wine and I have a seriously love relationship. Trust me it doesn’t get better than that.
I’ve been hiding in my room for weeks just going out to class and back because I wasn’t ready to face the i-told-you-so looks. I was eating my favorite Ben& Jerry’s vanilla caramel fudge ice cream when there was a knock on my door and suddenly I was pulled back to reality. Busted. My best friend barked in with a Ben&Jerry’s Banana Split Pint. God blessed Ben&Jerry’s for having the Banana Split flavor.

She turned on the TV and I was scrolling through the channels when suddenly I saw her. ‘You’re messing with the wrong bitch’ she said. The first thing that popped into my mind was that she was a ‘total badass’.
Cookie Lyon from the ‘Empire’ TV Show represented the second love of my life in a totally unique and glamorous way: fashion. She fights to get back her children and half of a multimillion-dollar record label she initially funded before going to prison with an unconventional sense of style. If there are two things I really admire about her are: her love-hate relationship with her ex and her fierce and powerful wardrobe filled with fur, animal prints, golds and sparkles. The epic representation of a ‘boss woman’. Even when she rocks the formal attire she does it with a leopard suit and thigh-high boots.
I write for fashion and she reminded me of that. She is a woman who despite everything symbolizes power and determination. There’s no better way to be a leader than to trust and be confident about yourself. Suddenly I wanted to know more, I wanted to see the next episode. My first instinct was to reach for Netflix and get into the Netflix and chill (literally chill) mode; however, I was surprised to find the show wasn’t there so that’s when my friend said ‘Go to Hulu I see ‘Leverage’ there’.
….
It’s been almost 2 weeks and I’m halfway down with the show, and I’m able to catch new episodes the night it airs, something I personally haven’t experienced before. Now, I don’t have to worry about going to illegal websites and living the ‘virus experience’ in my computer. It’s an easy and rapid access thanks to the wonder of on-demand viewing from Hulu. I found there exactly what I needed to stop moping all over my room.

At some point, it not only came to one show, but to a lot more than symbolized the woman I know I am but almost forgot when I was faced with break-ups and love issues - adding the style signature that is essential to me as a Fashion Journalist. Currently, I’ve wanting to watch the stylish and sophisticated lawyer Alicia Florrick in ‘The Good Wife’ who proves to push boundaries in the political world.
Being able to find these shows in just one place with an awesome resolution was the remedy to my trainwreck of emotions. Hours of fun featuring stylish characters transforms anyone’s mood.

8 TV And Film Wardrobes We Crave
For some people, a wardrobe represents a holy space in the bedroom where is just you and your clothes. If you could steal the wardrobe of any of your favorite characters, which would you choose? From digital to gigantic to relatively small, here are a list of 8 wardrobes we wish we could own.
#1. The Princess Diaries 2, Mia Thermopolis

Amelia Thermopolis Rinaldi has a wardrobe to die for and is perfectly fit for a queen. With a view that almost looks like a huge bedroom, the wardrobe is divided into mini sections perfectly organized for different garments including a special area for her sparkling jewelry that works under the ‘click’ of a control remote. Don’t mind adding some furniture with a personalized desk, there’s enough room for everything!
#2. Clueless, Cher Horowitz’s

Image source: Brit Morin via pinterest.com
If you think about the wardrobe every woman wants to have undoubtedly the first image that pops into our mind is Cher Horowitz’s digital wardrobe, which does literally the work for you. It put together outfit combinations and verifies what’s a match outfit so you know exactly what to wear. What’s not to like about it?
#3. The Great Gatsby, Jay Gatsby

A two-story bedroom with an over-the-top classic aesthetic just takes the word ‘wardrobe’ to a whole new level. The entire upper section is just dedicated to shirts in a range of monochromatic colors that also resembles how Gatsby lived to the excess. If he was trying to make a point and impress Daisy, he totally nailed it!
#4. Sex and The City, Carrie Bradshaw
“I like my money right where I can see it….hanging in my closet” And Carrie Bradshaw proves it right! Her walk-in wardrobe is a dream come true with a range of monochromatic and vibrant colors and infinite shoes. If there’s something that stands out more than her editor job at vogue and her sex life is definitely her closet.
#5. The Royals, Princess Eleanor
A mixture of vintage with designer clothes. If there’s someone who can rock the ‘wear whatever you’d like’ saying and look royally amazing is princess Eleanor. Personally one of my favorite characters, her wardrobe is literally a collection of high fashion, streetwear and vintage. Royal fashion with a badass pinch.
#6. Confessions of a Shopaholic, Rebecca Bloomwood

Image source: The Blush via pinterest.com
Rebecca Bloomwood might’ve had an extreme shopping issue, but her taste in fashion was pretty amazing. Her excessive shopping addiction won’t even fit in her closet to the point she explores a tiny fashion explosion during one of the movie scenes. If there is something you can learn from here is that even if your closet is lacking space there is always a way.
#7. Gossip Girl, Serena Van Der Woodsen

A stylish and elegant wardrobe that resembles everything about the Upper East side ‘It girl’. #8. Fifty Shades Darker, Anastasia Steele

Ana’s look are normally conservative and traditional, however, in the second film she is faced with a glamorous wardrobe full of embroidered gowns, the iconic red dress and high fashion pieces courtesy of her one and only Christian Grey. I guess not everything is dark as it seems, at least not the closet!
Too overwhelming? I don’t think so, is what we all want but can’t have, but it doesn’t hurt to look right? Can you come up with any other dream wardrobes? Share your comments below! if you liked this post check out these 8 lifesaver steps to organize your wardrobe like a Hollywood star!

3 DIY Videos to Imitate Characters Outfits
Our favorite tv shows often inspire us because they make statements not only through their unconventional and funny characters but also through their particular choice of clothing. Sometimes trying to reference a specific era or simply because it resembles a personality. Many times, I've looked to imitate or re-create an outfit with pieces I have at home just because I feel identified with that particular style. For people who feel identified with this clothing dilemma, here are 3 videos I found that guides in how to re-create a character’s outfit in easy steps.
#1. Friends
‘Friends’ was not only defined as the LOL kind of show but as a show that united audiences from around the globe as well. The styling of the show influenced trends during that time and characters like Rachel, Monica and Phoebe became fashion icons that were a guide for a generation of young women in the 90’s. From denim vests and shirts to a tomboy kind of style, YouTube channel StealTheSpotlight by fashion blogger Katie O shares outfits inspired on these characters looks that are easily done.

Made to Measure (M2M): The New Netflix for Fashion

Image source: cultofmac.com, photo by WME/IMG
There you are biting your nails with your eyes wide open trying to figure out what’s going to happen next and if they are going to make it or not. But what is going on? Jeremy Scott is sitting in his desk in a white studio 24 hours before his fashion show in New York with his laptop in front of him, thousands of sketches to his left and an orange juice to his right. Suddenly you are seeing people hanging different garments in hangers with his actual signature on it and a model walking down the studio wearing a sketch belt that seems like you are seeing her actual shadow walking the runway with her. At the same time, Scott along with the casting director is trying to come up with 18 models that would fit perfectly his eccentric outfits one day before the show. On the other hand, you are feeling the tension, stress and anxiety of a production intern who is trying to finish a bodysuit he has been working on 15 hours a day for 7 days 14 hours before the show. So if there’s something you can realize from the scenario in front you is that time sucks! And how ironic this all happens in the city that never sleeps huh?
Just 13 hours left and with no popcorn left you see everyone is at the point of the heart attack, people are sleeping on chairs, assistants are developing superpowers when trying to fix everything by hand with no sewing machines and there are no models for the fashion show yet. On the next scene, Scott is in a car on his way to the show just 8 hours before wearing an oversized rainbow ski jacket style while saying the iconic phrase “Fashion = Exhaustion”. For a moment it feels like you can catch a breath when you realize it’s too good to be true and hear the stylist telling Scott the agency cancelled one of the models the last minute. So it’s 30 minutes before the show makeup artists are taking pictures with their phones and redoing their art from that because they didn’t have time to print the makeup pattern and a model is missing. So how are you able to see all this? Let me introduce you to the fashion version of Netflix: Made to Measure TV.
Made to measure (M2M) is a new free fashion video network that transports you to fashion in different eras. Divided into different categories the fashion channel includes: runway, films, series and favorites. It features interviews with designers, models and tastemakers along with live reports and exclusive videos with industry insiders. When I mention fashion films and series I’m not talking about Zoolander or Project Runway, I’m referring to movies and series that reflect the essence, birth and evolution of fashion throughout time. For instance, the craziness showed previously in Jeremy’s Scott life 24 hours before his show belongs to “The Day Before” series section in the channel. It not only features him but also outstanding minds such as Diane Von Furstenberg, Donatella Versace and Narciso Rodriguez during the intense and decisive final hours before their awaited fashion shows. Fashion is all about personalities and their breathtaking and struggling stories, so you can expect to learn about this figures on shows like ‘Iconic’ or ‘Visionaries’.
Apple TV developed a deal in 2015 for its first channel for original content. The fashion digital network was launched by the talent agency WME/IMG, the powerful company that owns New York Fashion Week, in 2016 but during that time was exclusively available on Apple TV. Now, the channel is available for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, and Xbox. It provides an inside to fashion like no other, especially from the thousands and different realms that come from the main nucleus. The viewer is able to perceive fashion as what it really is, with the ups and downs, the struggles and the constant challenge of keeping up with the rapid changing industry. The audience is also able to save, resume and play their favorites videos by logging in with Facebook. This tool makes it easier for the audience to keep their videos when being surrounded by a bunch of them.
youtube
I downloaded the app to my iPhone 4 months ago and to be honest is a successful tool when trying to immerse myself into the real concept of Fashion. The truth is there are many fashion related movies or series that somehow transmit the fundamentals of fashion or are trying to make a particular statement in an unconventional way. On the other hand, it is hard to find this kind of exclusive approach in relation to designers, models, stylists, directors and general people that somehow have managed to influence this world. It is a great opportunity to feel like sitting in the front rows of fashion shows. Even though the industry centers in fashion shows mostly, not everyone feels identified with this side of fashion in particular, some people just feel pulled towards other of its realms. You can look at this channel as if it was a menu; there are options for any taste. If you are more entertained with knowing what is going on behind the scenes, learning about the daily life of models and iconic personalities or studying the history of fashion and how it all started, then this is a good option that will keep you fully satisfied.
However, just as fashion changes in the blink of an eye and a snap of fingers, the network needs to keep up with the hunger the audience develops when they’ve been fed with these calories of information and scenarios because suddenly we need to know more. For instance, I finished watching ‘The Day Before’ series almost three months ago and they haven’t added any new designers since then.
Based on my personal experience, M2M covers an extensive landscape of the fashion sphere in just one channel featuring easy access literally at the palm of your hand. It is directed to a large audience with different taste and perceptions towards the industry. It just depends on what you are looking for. Overall, it is recommended!
Download M2M from App Store and Google Play. Comment below and share your opinions and comments on the channel.

The Hunger For Unconventional Costumes Through The Eyes Of Elena Slyvniak
The secret formula involves mixing sophistication with unusualness and a pinch of mystery. Each ingredient represents a key element in trying to achieve a non-traditional look or what is best known as the Avant-Garde style. This type of style pushes the boundaries of fashion by integrating elements or one element that transforms an ensemble into a jaw-dropping outfit that’s innovative and striking. Apparently, it’s not so secret anymore since a lot of films throughout the years, especially futuristic ones, have upgraded the definition of fashion. It’s not just about making the most astonishing scenes, but looking for balance between those scenes and the character’s costumes. However, this style is acknowledged more for costumes than for Ready To Wear type of clothing and it leans more towards the idea of the future instead of embracing the present as well. So what’s really the story behind this aesthetic in films and what limitations does it face?
The Hunger Games films portray a futuristic ideal of communities tyrannized by a high-tech upper class elite. That side of the spectrum constitutes the ‘Capitol Couture’ and the four films feature ensembles such as butterfly-bedecked dresses, satin contoured black sportswear pieces in high-tech fabrics, a wedding dress with a metal bodice and metal pieces rising up that signify power, a hot pink suit with a high collar oversized silhouette and architecturally structured dresses. This perspective of fashion showcases the power the capitol holds, by comparing their over the top looks to the simple and minimal garments of the districts, which possessed limited color palettes of gray and blue gray. How is it possible to keep up with the standards of creating crazy shapes and silhouettes garments that resemble so many different themes at the same time? Wearing tight jeans with a long oversized open-knit black sweater dress and an stylized bun, Elena Slivnyak, Ukranian founder of the couture fashion brand IIMUAHII, took me deeper into her world and her genius aesthetic by discussing the challenge of designing one of the costumes for the Mockingjay film and the influence of Avant-Garde fashion and technology in films.

Your brand IIMUAHII has a futuristic Avant-Garde aesthetic. What made you interested in creating this type of clothing? Elena Slivnyak: When I was in school, I was still exploring who I was as a designer and there was actually a teacher here at the Academy that really pointed me towards that direction. As I started exploring that kind of style, my ideas started blooming and so that’s when it all began.
You designed an amazing costume for the Hunger Games Mockingjay film, how did you get this opportunity? And can you tell us a little bit about the costume.
ES: Sure. I was actually approached by the costume designers Kurt and Bart. I don’t know exactly how they found about my brand; they probably found it online somehow. I had a lot of published editorials and things that were disseminated throughout the industry. They approached me and they were interested in purchasing a few costumes for supporting actors. The costumes themselves were a rendition of my previous work from my previous collection that they really liked, so I had to take that and then develop it into something else, a girl and a boy costume. They were the barbers that were shaving President Snow. So that is how that became a costume. [Laughs]
How do you think your aesthetic relates to the futuristic theme of the movie?
ES: What they ended up doing for the movie is they pulled a lot of different designers work from around the world and I wouldn’t particularly say that every costume in the movie was very futuristic. A lot of them were post-apocalyptic and had a lot of different aesthetics. My aesthetic is a different kind of take on the future and everyone else has their own take on future. So to answer your question, that’s a tough one [Laughs]. I honestly think that futuristic elements in clothes such as the silhouettes and fabrications you use are mostly what relates to the futuristic concept of the movie.
And it depends a lot on the character as well.
ES: Yes, it depends a lot on the character. There were strict guidelines for the costume. For instance, I had to make it stretchy so that it would be able to fit on multiple different bodies because they didn’t have a set cast for them yet. They were like “Ok make something and then we would make someone else fit into it.” It had to be a girl and a boy. I didn’t really have to work hard because it was based on a design I already did in my previous collection. My take on futurism is a bit different than everyone else’s I feel mine is happier. It’s not post-apocalyptic; it’s like shape shifting and my take on the future is that it’s going to get better, not worse. Maybe it will get worst first, but I believe it’s going to get better after. I’m not saying that this is the way people are going to wear clothes later, is just my opinion on how an ideal futurism would look like. [Laughs].
Did you use any type of technology when creating this costume?
ES: No, just techniques I developed on my own. My thing is working with neoprene. For me, it is a very futuristic fabric because it’s so versatile. You can wash it in the washer, you don’t have to dry clean, it’s stretchy, it conforms to any human body and it does well in cool and hot weather.
I’ve mostly seen Avant-Garde fashion in films that portray a vision to the future. Do you think Avant-Garde can only be successfully used in futuristic themed movies or not necessarily?
ES: Not necessarily. I think the definition of Avant-Garde is new, unusual and experimental fashion, so I feel that can be applied to Ready To Wear as a scale down element. It doesn’t have to be super oversized for a person to be impossible to walk in it. You can take specific details and interpreted into a RTW collection and just transform the whole collection into something unique by doing that.
That actually relates to my next question. Why do you think the fusion between fashion and technology is seen more in films and TV rather than in Ready To Wear?
ES: I think it’s because technology is not there yet when it comes to fashion. There’s still developing and experimenting elements, how it can be integrated into the cloth for example as opposed to a wire in a jacket. Give it 5 to 10 more years and I believe that technology would be there, right now it’s kind of hard to integrate them together because just fundamentally is not there yet.
Do you think it is important for entertainment companies to incorporate technology not just as part of scenes but also as part of the characters costumes?
ES: Yes. Definitely. I believe technology when done right, mixed with fashion can be extraordinary. Just look at the X Machina exhibit from the Met museum last year. There are endless possibilities of how that can be incorporated. Now how do you wear something so innovative and structured, it’s a different story. For example, Iris Van Herpen ideas and techniques are extremely amazing but can you wear them every day? No you can’t because of elements like rubber and plastic. So how do you integrate that into cloth? When that’s figured out we can get somewhere.
What do you think are the key elements to develop an Avant-Garde ensemble?
ES: One of the main key elements that I always start with is texture. Developing and experimenting with unique fabrications and applying them in a new, fresh and 3D way is the beginning of any amazing Avant-Garde collection or any other collection. But that’s what I just do. Obviously silhouettes and shapes have a lot do with being extremely Avant-Garde. You don’t want to just choose a plain tailored jacket and put texture on it. That’s not really Avant-Garde, it’s not new or experimental. Now if you take that jacket and cut it up into pieces and deconstructed it and reconstructed it again in a visually intriguing way that’s avant-garde and if you add texture to that it completely changes the whole piece, it makes it go up in so many different levels. On the other hand, Avant-Garde can be simple; it doesn’t have to be this huge crazy shape with spikes coming out of it. The piece can include a simple detail that has never been seen before so as long as it’s experimental that’s what I consider Avant-Garde.
The Avant-Garde aesthetic pushes boundaries; however, its meaning varies in every person. From a small detail to a whole structured and complex design, many entertainment industries at present tend to associate futurism and Avant-Garde. However; its association with haute couture or futuristic concepts might develop a different meaning when technology, over the years, become a key asset in giving this type of aesthetic a more easy approach. Can you come up with any other films that combine a futuristic theme with the avant-garde aesthetic in characters costumes?

Female Character Leaders Redefine Work Attire
What is the look of power and what meaning does it have at present? When the power suit, known as ‘The Look’, emerged in the 1980’s, its purpose was to ignore a women’s shape and focus on their comfortability as they worked their way up to the corporate industry, it also signified equality between men and women. The outfit was limited to a floppy bow tie and the suit. However, throughout the years, women in films and TV shows have redefined the meaning of the ‘look of power’. What does that mean? It means women are now being faithful to their style no matter their job. From FBI analysts to forensic scientists they don’t let stereotypes define what they are capable of. They have upgraded the significance of dress code allowing them to keep the essence of who they are through their clothes. #BeBoldForChange is the International Women’s Day 2017 campaign theme, and believe it or not there are fashion related examples of challenging women in the work field.
Bringing up the hemline and using belts to emphasize the waistline was a synonym of a feminized workwear brought by Dona Karan in 1985 through the Seven Easy Pieces. The concept centered around a black and stretchy bodysuit. The piece did not seek to be masculine but serious, bashful and why not, desirable too. However, just like a cycle everything started to change when women wanted to be recognized by their fit bodies as well. Toned bodies were incorporated as part of womens’ outfits and were worn with pride. Well-defined arms and flat abs led the idea of a woman with a sense of purpose, capacity self-control, power and confidence. It’s funny how the mind works, someone who might look physically weak might be catalogued as a person who is incapable of standing up to the demands or fulfill the requirements of certain jobs.

Image source: buddytv.com, photo by Dean Bextor
Now, in TV and films certain characters are looking to show how crazy, extraordinary, inimitable and matchless they can be without having to be wrapped in a boxy type suit or reveal fitness’s bodies to convey capability. In the NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) television series, we get to know the happiest Goth you’ll ever meet. Abigail “Abby” Sciuto is a Forensic Scientist with a gothic style of dress. Her interest in death and the supernatural contrast her high-strung behavior and eagerness with her work. Peaceful leader of the Amity faction in the ‘Divergent’ movie series, Johanna Reyes transmits her non-aggression diplomacy through her boho and minimal style. As a leader of her faction, her main devotion is to the environment and agriculture as a form of living. Her main garment during the film is a Portolano Woven Lambswool shawl scarf. Her color palette features earth tone prints, nudes and washed-out colors. She surrounds herself with a naturalistic vibe and wears mostly linen dresses, artisan made slippers and flowy garments. She represents a futuristic society with an alarming concern towards Earth care and the environment. Her style goes hand in hand with her beliefs and what she stands for. Being responsible for a whole community she conveys an image of a woman comfortable in her own clothes, even though she can be expected to wear something different because of her position as a political leader. She demonstrates equality with her clothing by trying to blend in with the community and showing herself as someone approachable. Clothes As a Character
Behind every costume is a story. Characters in films and TV shows demonstrate how crazy, colorful, unconventional, eccentric, obscure, impulsive and glamorous they can be through their clothing aesthetic. Check out 7 films and TV shows that resemble clothes as a character.
1. The Mad Hatter: Alice in Wonderland

The Mad Hatter is a character with an orange wig, clownlike makeup, and tinted contacts. Wearing blue, grey, brown and purple jackets along with violet, lavender, pink and blue lace shirts with puff sleeves just explains that he is “mad as a hatter”. Due to the exposure of toxic substances during the creation of hats, he develops mental and personality disorders. His mood swings are constant just like his clothing and comes in a variety of colors. Not only is his behavior crazy but so is his style. He goes from rage to happiness, to desperation and then sadness. For instance, the frayed aged look of the jacket symbolizes his sadness and depression. The more colorful the clothes show an ultimate level of insanity where not even him can control his emotions. When the color contains shades of black, it adds a somber appearance that reflects his confusion and mental distortion. He randomly sings and dance and is known for playing mind games, he is all over the place just like his style.
2. Louisa Clark: Me Before You
Louisa or Lou is the definition of a 26-year-old girl with an enthusiastic outlook on life. What better way to demonstrate it than through polka dot shoes, yellow and black thighs and the comic strip skirt with the sailor style t-shirt? Live boldly, push yourself, and just live. Regardless of the occasion, colors and prints bring out the playful side that’s been hiding deep inside and is screaming to come out. Even in the worst of situations, this character knows the biggest secret of all: smile. She convinces a man that there is life after being stuck on a wheelchair. Life is her passion and along with her distinctive and vibrant garment combinations she exhibits her confidence and extravagant way of thinking. Even after being called ridiculous by the man who she later falls in love with, she embraces it every single time. Being ridiculous is for her a way of being happy to the fullest.
3. Coco Chanel: Coco Before Chanel

You know you are awesome when you represented womens’ freedom in the 20th century. Audrey Tatou is the French actress that stars as Chanel in the 2009 film. She made practical what wasn’t practical. She demonstrated another way to be feminine replacing corsets and lace frills with sailor shirts and wool jersey and introducing the holy grail in fashion: the little black dress. She started with herself, refusing to be squeezed into a corset and covered in lace with her breasts hanging out. She gave women a way of being desirable by not showing too much. As she hints in the film, even a woman in a nun costume can be sexy and provocative. By showing less you can leave a little for imagination.
Her transition in terms of clothes from the beginning to the end symbolizes the inner evolution she goes through from a woman who wanted to be an actress to a woman who wears an evening menswear look with white cuffs sticking out. Everything is handmade and an outcome of customizing existing items such as curtains and one his lover’s t-shirts. She starts as an uncharming character who without money or status is able to acquire them only by attaching herself to what we call today a ‘sugar daddy’. She represented supremacy and simplicity in a time where women didn’t have a chance. She was more of a man than any man during that time.
4. Kimmy Gibbler: Fuller House

You are crazy and you know it when you wear a crocheted bacon and eggs scarf. 29 years has passed since the first series and the only thing that’s changed is that Kimmy has become a party planner; other than that she is still the same enchanting pesky neighbor she was in the 90’s. She is still very eccentric, but in an updated kind of way. Who can rock shoes with aquariums in the heels better than her? Her clothes have no filter just like her. She speaks her mind without caring about the consequences. She’s wrapped in her own world, and she clearly has more fun than any of us. The essence of the character goes around being festive, vibrant and full of life. She adds that pinch of extravaganza to the Tanner family. Do it Gibbler Style….
5. Nina Sayers: The Black Swan
Throughout the film we watch the innocent and fragile ballerina Nina Sayers, portrayed by Natalie Portman, drive into insanity, while trying to get in touch with her dark side.
The character goes from pink sweatpants and sweaters to black feathers and scarfs. Nina’s color palette is minimal and repeated throughout the first half of the film. It consists of white grey and pale pink showcasing how naïve and overprotective she was. She didn’t go for the unexpected or succumb beyond her comfort zone. She opens up in a romantic white tutu made by Rodarte and designed to portray the character at its purest, as the ultimate fantasy. She starts as the traditional and ‘follow the rules’ kind of girl until she reaches her breaking point into madness.
Turning into Odile, a somber color takes control with non-traditional fabrics that include feathers and broken angora wool to represent the ultimate sacrifice. It is also a representation of how she dives deeper into insanity. The gorgeous tutu of black tulle studded with Swarovski crystals and embellished with black feather completes the character metamorphosis.
6. Clementine: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Free-spirited as her clothes, Clementine represents a carefree and impulsive soul that is constantly looking for changes in order to avoid getting bored or trapped. She stands out not only for getting the memories of her ex wiped clean but also for her odd style. Her wardrobe includes red corduroy skirts, blue and purple tye-dyed shirts, stripped purple knitted scarf and pair of black sparkly tights.
Let’s start by the fact that she got her ex erased from her memory. Who does that? Is that even possible? Many people would like to go through that medical process instead of wasting tons of money on psychologists and therapies. That’s just how crazy she is.
Her colorful hairstyles throughout the movie can be associated to different moods and struggles she goes through and at the same time helps the viewer keep track of her chronologically. She is crazy, spontaneous and completely random. It also represents the status of her relationship with Joel. For instance, the deep reddish auburn color represents happy moments of their relationship. When the hair turns lighter like orange it represents tension and instability in their relationship and her insecurities as well. Blue symbolizes the present, and signify her most intense moments and the struggle with her identity and her mental state. At the end, the green hair represents a cycle in her relationship but also on herself, the chance of a new beginning.
7. Samantha Jones: Sex and the city

She is sex on heels. Her life includes sex, friendships, parties and a lot of cosmopolitans. Her style goes from simple minimal to screaming, “I’m desirable and sexy!” Vibrant and saturated colors are an extended part of her versatile wardrobe, which shows she is not afraid to do her own thing. She is hot and she knows it! No matter the age she never stops wearing tight clothes, short dresses and high heels, she is a clear example that age is just a number. She knows women hate her and let’s be honest she loves it. She rocked the 80’s power shoulders with a crystal belt and created the matching futuristic look with a gold leather coat and gold leather boots. Somehow she is able to push normal fashion boundaries and make it look good and not only in fashion apparently. Let’s not forget she is an open Kamasutra guide for women. Not only did she date the hottest guy on the show but her clothes are also a reflection of how successful she is in various aspects of her life. She dresses as if she is going to have sex everyday… but oh wait she does.
As you can see fashion can be perceived as contributing to a character’s identity. A character’s style can be used as a source of communication that transmits the essence of a character. No matter how complicated a character gets, clothes give us a hint to what they are. This goes beyond fiction. What do your clothes say about you?
