Call me Rook! He/Them. This blog is a mess but I've been taken over by the Magnus Archives, Batman and Danny Phantom of all things. Not spoiler friendly tread lightly!

Okay, now that I've sat on 5.3 for a few days, I've changed my mind about Mauvika. ✨ Spoilers! ✨
So, admittedly, I wasn't that into Mauvika as a character. Sure she's cool and I adore the fire hair design and voice acting but I found her rather dull. It doesn't help we meet her after she's already gotten the acclaim and respect as the Archon. So much of her is wrapped up in the Pyro Archon role, and being very good at it and that's kind of it.
But maybe that's the point.
As seen before she almost hands herself over to Ronova, she fully states she can't afford to care about her wants as Mauvika the person. She's so intertwined with the Pyro Archon role and the responsibility of that carries to the point she's willing to sacrifice her life twice.
And then we all remember Il Capitano negating that but now what?
The ley lines are saved. Natlan is saved. Their people retain themselves without the heavy costs of the other options. A sacrifice was made and Mauvika is still alive.
What must that be like? To never consider a future for herself but only the inevitable end and sacrifice? To get that peaceful Natlan she resigned herself to never see but was fully willing to die for? Will she feel lost in that quiet way? Will she try to bury herself back into the Pyro Archon role for as long as she can until the next one comes along?
Finally, Mauvika's future is open to her.
Will Mauvika finally allow herself to want? To dream?
Also, someone hit me, I'm suffering over the Mauvika and Il Capitano parallels because LOOK, THEY'RE BOTH TWO PEOPLE WHO SUFFERED AND ENDURED UNDER THEIR RESPECTIVE DUTIES WILLINGLY AND NOW SHE GETS TO BE A PERSON AGAIN. SHE GETS THE CHANCE HE NEVER DID.
#spoilers#genshin impact#genshin spoilers#5.3 genshin#Mauvika#It's only 5.3 so we have time so PLEASE HOYO explore interesting character premises!!#ironic that I'm only interested in her AFTER the archon quests are done I haven't done her story quest yet so we'll see

I have One (1) fear and it's playable Skirk being utterly demeaning in her treatment of Childe.
#I want the Skirk lore I want the Childe lore but I can see it happening and nope do not want#I want them to have a complicated relationship (Or as Complicated as Childe 'I'm allergic to self reflection' can be.)#Tartaglia#Childe#he's my boi but also is a little respect from the narrative gods enough to ask? I know we clown on him but pls hoyo#genshin impact
