Despite me saying that russian is my first language, i am embarrassingly bad at it. I have enough knowledge to hold a simple conversation with someone but the moment i need to text my mother I suddenly forget the alphabet and stare at my phone for 5 minutes before deciding to take my chances with speech to text, and when that doesn’t work i give up and send my text in English.

The same thing happens to English too, though its less of me forgetting the alphabet and more of me struggling to remember what something is called, and usually it’s something stupidly simple like chair. Or bridge. Or car. Or i start saying a phrase and trail off in the middle of the sentence as i try to recall if im using it correctly.

found an old character design for a somewhat thought out game idea i had about 3 years ago, decided to redraw them and I liked the drawing enough to share it with anyone i can!!!

I do not have a good name for them, so ive been calling em "The Photographer". I have some character lore surrounding them and the game concept thing that I know i dont have the skills to make but im having fun workshopping in my head, but for now here's the basic of the basics: They are a photographer, searching for beauty in a dying world, and taking pictures of anything that catches their eye.

Here's the about 3 year old drawing, for reference!!! If nothing else, I feel like i improved the outfit!!!!

“Where have you been?”

Fishing. They finally found me and forced me to sit in the boat and fish. Somehow fishing is fun now. I am lying in bed, thinking about fish.

I have spent years of my life hating fishing minigames, only for wuthering waves to somehow make a minigame that’s kind of about fishing fun. I have become the thing i hate the most.

You see, Perry the Platypus, when Vanessa was a little girl, she wanted to take estrogen. Of course, I said yes. And since then she’s always been my little girl. Well recently, Vanessa’s school deadnamed her on her reports! Can you believe that!? I mean we live in a fairly progressive area and—hey, isn’t that not allowed in public schools??

Anyway, that’s when I got the idea for THIS! The deadname-eraser-inator! That way, not only will Vanessa no longer be deadnamed, but EVERY OTHER TRANS PERSON IN THE TRI! STATE! AREA!

I babysat two rather chaotic children yesterday.

They threw pillows at me, yelled loud enough that i was worried someone next door would knock on the door and complain about the noise, and the brother (kid #1) told me- with a straight face- that his sister was evil.

This aforementioned evil (kid #2) carried around this really adorable sleeping eevee plushie, and after finding out that eevee is her favourite Pokemon, i offered to draw an eevee as a peace treaty. She constantly shook the chair i was sitting in, making it somewhat hard to concentrate on my craft, BUT JOKES ON HER CAUSE I LIVE WITH 4 YOUNGER SIBLINGS, SO I KNOW HOW TO KEEP A SOMEWHAT STEADY HAND WHEN I NEED TO. HA.

After some trial and error, I drew this:

Considering i dont draw Pokemon that often, i think i did a good job!

…And then the creature threatened to scribble all over my hard work. (I think she was joking. Probably.)

I was still planning on giving the drawing to her, so i decided that i may as well tear the page out and ask if the two wanted anything else drawn. Kid #1 asked for a pikachu, and uh. I tried.

If youre wondering why hes holding a toothbrush and toothpaste, kid #2 asked for him to hold a toothbrush and i thought i may as well add some toothpaste while im at it.

This is when all hell broke loose.

They said the eevee looked buff, so i drew a buff eevee

They saw the other cat doodles i was drawing in my sketchbook, so i added it to the page. Kid #1 took my mechanical pencil (with my permission), and wrote notes on the page. Kid #2 wrote down what she claims to be “dad’s phone number” (false)

Kid #2 then turned her gase towards one of my unfinished eevee drawings, asking me to “make it lighter” (ink it in).

Boy am i glad i took a picture of this before kid #1 got ahold of it, as what you shall see below is what happened to the drawing an hour later, as i was working on another drawing.

Yeah.

This leads me into the final Main drawing i made in the evening. The two children asked me to draw….. a Charzard.

This is where i have to confess. I have never, in my life, drawn a charzard. Hell- I haven’t drawn a good looking dragon before!

(I did once draw a REALLY bad looking dragon when my mom asked me to draw Haku (from spirited away) back when i was first started digital art at the age of 13 or so, but i cringe even thinking about those times.)

But ive dug too deep to back out now. Not only is my pride as an artist at stake, but these children are finally looking at me with expectation. So, i looked up a Charzard reference on my phone, set it off to the side, and started drawing.

For a brief moment, the world stood still. My singing to myself probably helped, but Kid #2 FINALLY stopped shaking my chair. Those two little spawns of condensed chaos, who until now have threatened to draw all over my drawings, didnt say anything bad about this one. Hell- both of the children HELPED me erase the pencil outline!!!

I have no clue how this managed to impress them but here’s the finished drawing

Apparently, this drawing was good enough for them that they want to colour it in.

This is probably the highest compliment ive ever received about a piece of art ive created.

And to think that 4 hours ago kid #2 was threatening to scribble all over my eevee- and kid #1 did so with the sleeping eevee! (Im not upset at that, i know that by giving the paper to the children they can do whatever they want with it, not to mention i take pictures of my drawings for a reason.)

A few minutes later, the parents of the children came home, I got paid for my time, and then i left, concluding the tale of how i somehow impressed two children with my art skills despite rarely drawing Pokemon.

This somehow made me feel a thousand times more confident about my art skills, as its one thing for someone my age or older to say “hey, your art is good!” But its a whole other thing to hear that your art is good enough to be coloured in by two around elementary school level kids who previously have been throwing pillows, shaking your chair and joking about how theyre going to scribble over your art.

i have been metaphorically bashing my head against the wall, trying to figure out how to set up a minecraft web map. realistically its really easy but then i realise the mod i chose doesnt view modded blocks and that's bad when all of your friends build with modded blocks so their houses are void.

in a vacuum this aint bad, but then you have leafless trees and entire void biomes :dead:

technically all i want is so that my friends can see where everyone is. I cant figure out how to do that in game without it working like waypoints and making you see where everyone is even if you dont have the map open (which isnt what i want ;-;), so im going to try to figure this out sooner than later.

....i probly also should figure this out when its not 3 am and have at least 6 hours of sleep in my system.

Hey hey hey hey hey i just listened to the two new OFF tracks by Morusque and it just makes me even more excited to see what the final game will look like.

Ill try to contain my thoughts in a single post eventually but so far mere words cannot describe how excited i am to see all of these cool people work on what’s probably going to be my favourite game ill play this year.

Okay, now that the hype has died down I just want to say that the general vibe of abject horror that Mr Foxington Tobias expressed about the simple fact that he had to make a song to act as a replacement for pepper steak is the realest thing I've ever seen. because like HOLY SHIT. how do you even BEGIN to approach that? i would have crashed out ngl. you want me to try to match up to pepper steak? pepper steak. pepper steak from OFF? you're insane. you might as well ask me to turn water into gold because you are asking me to do the impossible here. to capture pepper steak. pepper steak from off. the song pepper steak from OFF. what the fuck dude what the hell

Havent been posting much Minecraft stuff, partially because ever since i watched that OFF game remake announcement trailer late last year my interest in that game has skyrocketed after ages of being dormant in the back of my mind.

I fear that after the game releases i will not the the same, haha

Starting off 2025 with a wip of uh…. Honestly i can’t explain this build anymore with one word.

The long boardwalk I started building kind of broke apart and then started floating, then someone decided to live underneath those ruins. I also added a little garden that connects to a mine, which leads into the cherry blossom park if you know your way around.

Still don’t really know what to put on the right, Min suggested a garden but we’ll see if i go with that idea!!
