If the Mari Lwyd should appear at your door
Be sure to entertain with words galore
Lest the beast shall win
And then shall begin
An almighty feast on food & drink forevermore!
Inspired by the wassailing creature from Welsh tradition, this Mari Lwyd hybrid loves nothing more than to engage in a battle of wits, wordplay, and has a penchant for mulled cider.

....may you find some peace amongst the presents this holiday season!
Upon first seeing Gyftrot from Undertale several years ago, I wanted to create a Rankin-Bass rendition of the character (ala Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer, etc). Like many, I grew up on those stop-motion specials during the holidays, and they had a large impact on my interest in the medium. I'm pretty stoked with how the finished image turned out! Gotta include a bonus behind-the-scenes shot, because it lends a vastly different perspective.

A couple weeks ago, I was in a hit-and-run accident; I'm okay, but my car is still in the shop.
So I guess it's prime time to announce *** I have a Ko-fi page! *** This serves as a digital tip jar of sorts, if you enjoy my work and wish to show patronage!
I've been able to borrow my partner's car in the meantime (I'd really be SOL without it; I literally had to help transport a bunch of puppets to FedEx the next day; yep, that's a shark resting atop a greeting card stand)! Between my fulltime dayjob & studio job downtown, I commute a LOT and must have dependable transportation of my own.
Any extra funds during this time are greatly appreciated! I will also be selling wares at Zinefest Houston this Saturday, Nov 18 at the Orange Show, 12PM-6PM. (I'm also planning to list more items online over the Thanksgiving holiday.) Thank you ♡

Since 2021, a puppet of a 10 year old Syrian girl has been traveling the world, representing the experience of displaced children in each city she visits. During her walk, funds are raised to provide aid & services to refugee children in need. This year, she made the journey to America for the first time.
Her name is Little Amal and she's 12 feet tall.
Our studio was commissioned to make bats for her walk in downtown Houston at Alley Theatre.

Zinefest Houston's compilation release will be happening this weekend at Axelrad! This event basically serves as a little precursor to the official event in November; This year is birthday-themed, so there'll be a lot of celebrating going on! 🎉
This is my little piece for it; I'm stoked to be tabling again at ZFH this year after a break. ♡

uh, WOW? Your craft work and puppets are absolutely stunning! I'm jittery with inspiration now (with sadly no work space to channel it into) to make some puppets and figures. Your paint colorwork is just, *chefs kiss*.

Hey, thanks so much! I'm thrilled to hear it's cultivated some inspiration in your own work! ╰(´︶`)╯♡
I always encourage experimentation; crafting is multi-faceted! Don't let a limited workspace deter you from creating-- I've often used my bathroom floor to assemble dolls & puppets, as it has better lighting and more space than my desktop! Haha!

When working on an art piece, sometimes it's easy to become discouraged in the beginning, because many times we focus on the end product instead of what it takes to get there. Working on puppets is time intensive & takes many different steps. It teaches you to be present and simply enjoy the journey; the destination is the culmination of that.
It's humbling but also rewarding. That's what I love about puppetry.
